  • ACT and all contextual CBT therapies are the future. Other than reminding me of "You Can't Do That On Television", this is an excellent vid.

  • @ Crestharpfallen - ACT is not about belief or replacing a thought with another thought. Saying to yourself "I'm a loser!!" then trying to counteract it by saying "No I'm not!!" and still feeling like one has nothing to do with ACT. Its about learning to control the emotional charge to self debilitating, attacking thought processes. Whether they're true or false doesn't change the amazing results ACT has to offer. Read the Happiness Trap, it changed my life :P

  • Say to your self in the truest possible way, "I'm an ugly loser and everyone thinks I suck!!"

    Now using the voice of Yoda, say to yourself in the truest possible way, "I'm a banana!!"

    ACT is about learning to control the automatic reactions we have to thoughts, and if you really take it on-board, it works. :D

  • what im trying to say is that you gotta beleive one thing over another. but thats what the struggle is all bout about. What makes you feel better? belief? ACT or RFT arent they essentially beliefs?

  • y'see act is very contradictory by its own admission, whatever you say presupposes its oposite, if you say thoughts are your friend arent you also saying that they are related to your enemy?
