I just beat this game a couple days ago with all the Wolfens exorcised. I'm so glad I remembered this was one of the games I wanted to play when I was 13, but sorta got lost in the looming popular shadows of Ratchet and Jak. I remembered it a month ago and picked it up off of Amazon brand new. So glad I did. I have to say that along with Psychonauts and the Klonoa series, this is one of the best unknown video games I've played.

@dapperfan44 I remember, when I first got this game, that I got about twenty minutes into it (long enough to get to the Nativ village) and then got turned around a bit and put it down for a while in favor of other platformers. When I finally gave it some time, though, and took it up again, I loved it to death. Even though there's a lot I think that's terrible about it, I think the good is wonderful and the bad is an addiction. :D

Also, Klonoa and Psychonauts? You have excellent taste!

@notreallypurple Ironically, speaking of Ratchet and Jak, I purchased Kya a month ago alongside Ratchet Future 1 and Jak X. hahaha. I think that if Kya had been released shortly after Jak 1 and rode that wave, it would've done alot better than it did. The story and voice acting is a bit hokey, but I didn't experience any platforming control or camera problems (outside a couple instances where sometimes the camera would glitch out of a wind tunnel). I think the fighting controls might have been a

little inconsistent, but it could also be because I suck at fighting games. Did you experience any sound glitches (a constant repeating noise and no voices in cutscenes) when playing it? I was using it in a 60GB PS3 though so that might've had a bit to do with that. I like Kya a lot (and the bonus pictures of her don't hurt either, lolwut?), and the series definitely had potential. I hope another studio might try to revitalize the franchise. And I LOVE Klonoa. Thanks for the compliment. :)

I'm gonna pick up the Wii version (though I don't have one) of it direct from retail to fuel sales-the creator said he'd not only port Klonoa 2 to Wii , he'd also do a Klonoa 3, and the character limit can't contain how much I really want to see a true Klonoa 3 happen. Psychonauts is easy, but it doesn't hurt it. I love the cutscenes, the characters, everything about it. And about for the not-so-but-still-sorta-obscure­, the Viewtiful Joe and Ape Escape series are also awesome. AE PS3 is coming.

I seriously wish you could! But just from seeing the Kya-wolfen in this vid I am doubting that the developers made her into that could be played, all the could could do was a still howling pose.. they would have had to put a lot more work into her.

Oops I meant to reply to that, not remove your comment. I kind of doubted myself whether the wolven-Kya model would have much of a skeleton, but you're right, it would have just needed more of its own animations.

i finished this game with my dad a couple years ago and you end the game by fighting kyas dad,i was so dissapointed,that was a REALLY good game i loved now who knows what will become of it . . . . . anybody get what im sayin? they should make another one but i know they wont:(

I didn't mean to imply that this was the automatic end when you got hit by Aton. You only get this ending if you get shot by his rocket laucher, so the best thing to do is close in and melee as soon as possible and then kick his butt. But heck no, no matter how bad you lost, starting from the beginning would be unforgivable. I think all you have to do is fight him again. Or you can skip the Aton fight entirely if you look at my other Kya shortcut vid.

But no matter how well you do the good ending to this game is still disappointing, which is why I don't care who gets the bid to make Kya 2 ..anything will be good, as long as they make it!

I recorded this audio directly from my game, and she never howled, though it would have been cool if she had, but she just growled a little. I'm playing an NTSC version entitled Kya: Dark Lineage. I think there was also a PAL version called Kya: Fury of Brazul. It would be interesting to know what other differences there are!

Actually I can't remember how old I was.  Might have been a bit younger. I didn't properly freak out, I was just super scared the boss was going to do this to me again. I managed to beat it though.

I dunno did I say anything about dark? It's the 'bad' ending because the game treats it like a game-over, because you didn't beat the last two bosses, but it is up to the player to decide what they like best about the game. Even if it's bad I think it's pretty cool looking!
