if you look up the track times and i think theres a vid on here, they are the same with the manual and auto. This the same transmission mercedes has used in some SLR's. Its a very performance orriented Mercedes 5 speed auto....don't hate.

The GT500 also costs how much more than this thing? You obviously haven't driven one of these SRT8s, nor have you even looked the car up. It comes with a 6spd manual, along with IRS, and the Mustang rides like a fucking board on wheels. I have an '06 Mustang GT, and I love driving the car, but it's rough and underpowered compared to even the Challenger R/T, which will beat it in every aspect, and be priced right about the same brand new

Wow, how ignorant you are. Your car car is 3500 lbs. Sorry for that misunderstanding, i was looking at a different stang weight. Anyway, I'd take 425hp in a 4100lbs car over 300hp in a 3500lbs car. You can do that simple math that the power to weight ratio is better on the Challenger, right? As far as the 03-04 cobra costing 50-60k.. I said it would be, if it was brand new, just like the GT500 is these days, msrp 47k, SRT8 msrp is 37k. Apples and oranges my man.

To be fair to the Challenger, you have to compare it to a car in it's price class, the Mustang GT.. which is underpowered (like I said, I own an 06 version) the Challenger R/T is 390hp at 4000lbs, which is still better than the Mustang. So why don't you google power to weight ratio before you try talking to me about it? Obviously you don't understand the concept.

Once again, you're wrong. The Challenger's curb weight, even on the SE is upwards of 4200 pounds. The 2010 Camaro (which is lighter) is around 3900-4000 pounds. And stop holding onto the notion that 03-04 Cobras were even near the 50-60k range. They were at MSRP for around 40k. Seriously, where are you getting your erroneous facts?!

Like I said, you can talk GT vs R/T vs SRT-8 vs GT500 all day, but the cars are not in the same price range. R/T beats the Mustang (just barely) in somewhat the same price range, but the SRT-8 blows it away, the GT500 of course beats the SRT-8 because of its $10K+ price tag. You think it's gonna cost $10k+ to put a super charger on the SRT-8? I dunno, until they do it and I can see a price, but I don't think it will. What do you think that Hemi will put out with a super charger on it?

My dads was the first 2009 Dodge Challenger srt-8 to get a super charger i'll upload pics of it later. i'm not forsure on the price range but it bumped it up like 120 hp.

There's muscle cars and then there's track cars...I am able to distinguish the difference. I'm all for an automatic transmission on a track car; you're right, it's more beneficial and condusive to the track environment. However, for a street car automatic transmissions are a joke.

like I said I like the 03/04 cobras but I wouldn't make them the "benchmark", most stock 03/04 cobras that I've see run mid to high 12's with pretty good drivers. Decent drivers seem to be in the low 13's and IMO that's not too impressive for a 4V blower car.

I got confused, so y'all are debating if the challenger is faster than the cobra? Let me clear things up, the Challey is my dads car, not mine. I ran his car at the track and got a 13.6 with a bad launch, I think it has a 13.2-.3 in it though. The Cobra is faster BUT like I said it shouldn't be the benchmark for speed, hell 2V GT (NA) beat 03-04 Cobras, there are fast (highly modded ones out there) but in stock form the 03-04 cobra is nothing more than a mid12-13 sec car period.
