I thought it was a bad choice,because the ride taken away made the rate ofGreat America go down,and many people stop going to Great America,and I never got to get on Stealth. ;_;
To be honest, it was a bad idea, but Great America keeps getting worse and worse now that Cedar Fair owns it. I went to the Halloween Haunt last weekend and it was the most packed I had ever seen it, and my longest ride wait was 10 mins and that was for dropzone.
it seems like great america in gurnee is and always has been the more successful park. and i base that on the fact that there are several really key rides that six flags great america got (even when they were still both marriots) that santa clara didnt. for example: american eagle. although ive never been to santa clara so i dont really know from experience...and im also from gurnee il so....
i don't really agree with the decision. but the reason was because it was plauged with problems. they fixed those problems, now it resides at carowinds and it's called nighthawk. but i think they just needed something to replace it. and a water park was the first decision.
Cali Great America is the low class theme parks,Cedar Fair is going to sell it in a few more years,then it's probably going to go bankrupt(great america)
@Hieagandaus actually great america is already being sold bc of the whole new 49ners staduim thing, but on the bright side when it gets sold off the park is not closing down, it will still be operating jus under a diffrrent copmany
horibble decision the waterpark rides arent even that good i cant believe they took out all there rides that were good i even miss triple play that was fun
I dont live in Cali, never been to this park.... I clicked on vid cause I thought it was Great America in Gurnee
That said, they made the right choice. A few people can enjoy a coaster, where as a larger variety of people can enjoy a water park. Not to mention the capacity limits. You can put.. idk... 20 to 40 ppl on a coaster where in a water park you can put a few hundred.
It makes sense to cater to a larger amount of people while being able to also accomodate more people at the same time.
@milincoln but the thing about this great america is that it hasnt yet got a new roller coaster for the pass 10 yrs and has had 3 roller coasters remove in the pass 10 yrs!!! ( recently invertigo was removed this year)
@grimmiesongs Don't worry the ride actually was moved to Carowinds theme park and renamed Borg Assimilator ride so if you go there you can still ride it
nobody smart even likes boomerang bay. Stealth would have made great america the greatest park in the bay. I mean, in the south bay, it still is, but not the east bay (six flags). if only stealth was still here, great america would dwarf six flags.
As much as I loved Stealth, it being a prototype, it was plagued with downtimes and was a mechanic's nightmare, (Vekoma Ride). Not to mention the ride's hourly capacity was so bad they had to close the line an hour before park closing just because the lines were too long and people were still waiting well after the park closed. The water park boosted attendance OTH, but I agree GA is lacking in coasters which it needs esp with Invertigo now gone (Vekoma again) It needs a good B&M or Intamin type
This was probably the stupidist decision great america has ever made. This was a great addition to great america but they sent it to carowinds. BAD IDEA!!!
It was a horrible choice, most parks don't remove their flagship coaster in its prime, the land the Grizzly occupies would have been a much better choice as it is a horrible coaster and there would have been room for expansion into the employee parking lot
I'm indifferent about it because I think this park has gone downhill since the 1980s. This park has become so half-hearted about what it has to offer. It's never had a good selection of roller coasters. If it's coasters I want, I always go to Six Flags Magic Mountain which is only 4 more hours away thant CGA is. I see this park eventually going the way of AstroWorld.
I used to be terrified of Stealth, I loved roller coasters, but stealth scared the crap out of me, I finally summed up the courage to ride it on it's final day of being at Great America and I was blown away by how awesome it was. I wish I had grown a pair sooner, I miss that ride, great america isn't the same without it...stupid Canadians.
i miss stealth i was too young and didnt meet the height requirement to ride it and now i want to ride it but its no longer around..lame. great america should put in a coaster like XCELERATOR from KNOTTS BERRY FARM :D they have top gun which is silver bullet to knotts..
@rubberrice DUDE exactly the same with me! I had finally grown tall enough and when I went there it was done :/ I made a countdown for it an everything :(
Bad choice. Stealth was hyped like crazy while it was around in great america. What great america is missing are some really good roller coasters, and stealth couldve been for the more hardcore. Honestly, the roller coasters at great America arent that thrilling anymore.
@Sum1MakinVids You can find rides like that all over the country. In fact there's an even better flying coaster in Six Flags Magic Mountain called tatsu. Look it up.
@coasterfanatic100 Although there may be one flying coaster on the west coast, flying coasters are a bit rare, and the nearest flying coaster, besids Tatsu, is located in Illinois. Water parks, however, can be found in nearly every large city you can imagine. Also, theis is the Bay Area we are talking about, and Bay Area amusment parks rarely receieve new rides, let alone world-class ones.
Yeeeah, Good Choice. 1 Ride Vs A water park. Think about it. CGA is under a new company and their probably going to expand if they can. They should build a ride where that nasty pond is under Flight Deck.
I thought it was a bad choice,because the ride taken away made the rate ofGreat America go down,and many people stop going to Great America,and I never got to get on Stealth. ;_;

I agree with "milincoln" the stealth ride looked cool "I never got to ride it" but it still exists some where else
The ride only is only rideable by certain people and takes up a lot useable attraction space.
A water park is for every one
Plus if you live in the San Francisco Bay you know that the nearest water park is very far away so this makes one closer by!

and now they took out invertigo which sucks even more, next thing you know there gonna take out every good coaster
