It's awesome because it has cool fighting and choreography. The disability has NOTHING to do with it. Don't pretend that this movie has some deep message about overcoming the odds, cuz it doesn't. That's BEYOND stupid. Yes, people with disabilites can do great things, but they don't go out and fight crime. I looked at this movie as a whole, and it has great choreography, but the autism thing can't be denied as fcking HORRIBLE.

My nephew is autistic; it's not cool or kick-ass, it's a serious thing. But apparently, in this movie, having any kind of special need translates into martial arts mastery. And it gets worse, when they send the guy in this scene to fight her. He's not on drugs, people, the credits say he's epileptic. Then, she uses her weaponized autiusm to copy HIS disability, like she's got awesome super powers or something. So the moral is, the only way to beat a cripple is to become a cripple?

@thatsamoanguy No one sent him in, he kinda just wandered in there on his own. And of course autism isn't cool or kick-ass and they do touch on the difficulty of dealing with autism(albeit lightly). The movie puts an unreal twinge on it, but they at least had the slight decency to show that Zen never directly or intentionally kills anyone. I guess what I'm trying to point out is that i half agree with you, using autism as a plot device is awful but they tried not to bastardize it too much.

She picked up martial arts from observing both the movie actors, and the people training next door to her. There are many degrees of autism, and hers allowed her to pick up things quickly.
