Yes, Odyssey had a collection of CGI demos, but "The Mind's Eye" was a MIRAMAR production by Emmy Award winning director JAN NICKMAN who spent thousands of hours exquisitely crafting them into a double platinum selling film considered to be a milestone in the field of computer animation. With a score by JAMES REYNOLDS, "The Mind's Eye" reached #12 on Billboard's video hits chart. PLEASE GIVE PROPER CREDIT TO THE ARTISTS.
Jan 1, 3000 con't:flying space vehicle were by then we can travel by the speed of light who knows we might even have robots with artificial intellegents so imagin will have A human race and A man made robotics race were robots can also reproduce of there own kind through robotic sex by the use of there robotic sex organs female robots can give birth to baby robots.
This video shows how the technology of mankind is constenly growing to me it shows how will we be living in the future perhaps the year Jan 1, 3000 were planet earth will not be the only place were life exsist but exsist through out the milky way galaxy imagin moon hotels or moon housing floating space citys or colony's from one end of the galaxy to the other end flying space vehicle.
I watched this a lot as a kid. The beginning bits were brighter-sounding and -looking. By the time the tape was coming to a close and getting to these later parts, I remember being scared and uneasy but couldn't look away.
One late night, some friends and I had been smoking and I showed this to them. It was quite an eerie trip!
The last animation sequence at 3:30 is pretty awesome. I love the way old CGI stuff looks. Notice the up and down jitter due to the fact that the CGI renderings were actually printed on 35MM FILM!!! wow! I just love the way CGI looks on old, grainy 35MM film. So awesome. We dont see that done much today, unless its shown in an older theater that still uses 35MM projectors. I loved the Minds Eye CGI animations. They kinda went down hill after Beyond The Minds eye (that was the best one).
I played this song while driving in a van with my sports team after a long day of racing.
There was twilight in the air and the stars were beginning to show. Needless to say, most everyone fell asleep. But afterward they demanded that I never play that song again. Don't know what it is, I just think they don't appreciate something as relaxing as this segment. I always listen to it while driving in the early evening.
Yes, in fact, I believe the round space station is like i 20001. I can't believe NASA is actually in there, Logo and all. My favorite part was the very end: The "Sunvird". That would be the best spaceship ever!
@creativecharacter Totally. I like it because, as it's blocky and simple you can let your mind kinda fill in the blanks. Unlike CGI Today where everything uses high-res textures and millions of polygons. It's basically what you see is what you get with today's stuff. You can't let your mind wander as much.

I wonder if the animators today know how much of an influence and impact these works had on us kids at the time.

I think some of this was inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Just hits you on so many levels -- definitely one of the most incredible sequences ever filmed.

I think it's so much more fun to watch than most of what I see made today. I like the rawness of it all.

I remember watching some of this series on my CD-ROM on my computer. Now, I can't stomach watching a couple seconds of it.
Oh, how far we've come...
