  • I remember when my dad used to sing this song to me =D and awesome guitar playing and nice singing ur video rocked =).

  • I usually play this on the banjo, but was in a mood I guess... The twelve strings make this song (version) sound much better. Your kind comments are highly appreciated!! Thank you kindly

  • This is a great rendition, John. Your singing style is perfectly suited for these traditional songs. ;)

  • Awe Thank You! :-)

  • man John~this is a fantastic song and performance~conjures up reminasance of when my Dadday used to play this song on the ol 78 record player!faved and replayed

  • Thanks Dan! Was working on this one for the banjo, but felt like playing it and didn't have the banjo with me. Yes - the old 78's, ya sure can't beat the old scratchy sound they gave out can ya!

  • Sorry for being late John but I've been away. Great job my friend!!

  • Thanks Pete - yes I know how it is... couple days a way and it takes awhile to catch up! Thanks for watching! :-)

  • Sounds great man, can't beat the sound of a 12 string!

  • Thank you very much kind ma'am! :-) I think I fell in love with this guitar all over again!

  • It's not Black Bush, but just as potent. Good stuff John. Dee.

  • Lol! I agree! Black Bush its not! Thank you!

  • Thanks Andy, good to see ya!!!

  • Hey John. I remember my dad's old railway buddies singing this song at our house Friday nights!!!

    Great memories.

thanks for this song!!! And thanks for trying a Nanci song.

  • Yes!! I gave it a valiant effort. Then when coolanddark just found one he liked and played it - I simply gave up... LOL he is really something!

  • Great song John, I have never heard this song song before..I'm glad you dusted your guitar off and gave us this fine tune! Hey I've had a few flings with Rye Whiskey, I like the stuff but it makes me walk and talk funny : )

    Rocket

  • Yeah, lol, me too. Kind of why I switched to Jameson's, it still makes me walk and talk funny, but it doesn't make me shake my head every time I take a slug.

  • Jameson's on the rocks is great stuff..It's my Nephews favorite drink..But then again he is a Drummer in a rock band .so he is crazy as hell : ) He's shared his Jamesons with me quite a few times : )

  • great song, thanks buddy !

  • Thank you!!! :-)

  • It was a great choice, John! Love your performance of this one! Very good!!!

  • Thanks, I usually play the banjo to this one but couldn't resist!

  • That was great I did enjoy it. Carol x

  • Thank you very much Carol!

  • Fabulous thanks for sharing.

  • Well thank you for looking! :-)

  • Good job John! I was waiting to see when you'd put another one up. I've never heard this one before, but I must say I enjoyed.

  • Thank you! It is a fun song that can be sung as a lament, or speeded up to break neck speed as more of a drinking song.

  • This is fabulous John !! I have spent many an afternoon trying to record songs that I thought other people might like, even though I Knew they were not really me. I would either decide against uploading them or would delete after a few days/hours . We have to play what is in our hearts and what feels right- I've learnt that now. I really like what you choose to play John- because it is what makes you -you !!! Don't ever change !!

  • Jeepers Thanks!!! Yeah, I like being me, just wish I was a bit more wealthy. Yeah, I didn't think a John Prine song would really cut it for a Nanci Griffith song, but as you see -lol- I talked myself out of it!

  • Great Job!!!

    OOOOOOHHHHHH Whisky!!!!!

I do not drink Whisky anymore since March 2008!!!

    Damn good single malt!!!

I had to much of it!!!!

    Enough for an whole life!

    Best regards from Germany

    Andreas

  • Thank you my friend! And congratulations on your sobriety - that can be pretty hard to beat!

  • Very good job!
