I usually play this on the banjo, but was in a mood I guess... The twelve strings make this song (version) sound much better. Your kind comments are highly appreciated!! Thank you kindly
man John~this is a fantastic song and performance~conjures up reminasance of when my Dadday used to play this song on the ol 78 record player!faved and replayed
Thanks Dan! Was working on this one for the banjo, but felt like playing it and didn't have the banjo with me. Yes - the old 78's, ya sure can't beat the old scratchy sound they gave out can ya!
Great song John, I have never heard this song song before..I'm glad you dusted your guitar off and gave us this fine tune! Hey I've had a few flings with Rye Whiskey, I like the stuff but it makes me walk and talk funny : )
Yeah, lol, me too. Kind of why I switched to Jameson's, it still makes me walk and talk funny, but it doesn't make me shake my head every time I take a slug.
Jameson's on the rocks is great stuff..It's my Nephews favorite drink..But then again he is a Drummer in a rock band .so he is crazy as hell : ) He's shared his Jamesons with me quite a few times : )
This is fabulous John !! I have spent many an afternoon trying to record songs that I thought other people might like, even though I Knew they were not really me. I would either decide against uploading them or would delete after a few days/hours . We have to play what is in our hearts and what feels right- I've learnt that now. I really like what you choose to play John- because it is what makes you -you !!! Don't ever change !!
Jeepers Thanks!!! Yeah, I like being me, just wish I was a bit more wealthy. Yeah, I didn't think a John Prine song would really cut it for a Nanci Griffith song, but as you see -lol- I talked myself out of it!
awesome .... i grew up listening to this... RYE WHISKY!!!!!..... cool.

Good job John! I was waiting to see when you'd put another one up. I've never heard this one before, but I must say I enjoyed.

Thank you! It is a fun song that can be sung as a lament, or speeded up to break neck speed as more of a drinking song.
