Weird to hear people not digging the new stuff, I think they've evolved even more... I love Mantis, best album so far... (better than SIN at least IMO). Ditto on the pitch correction, I love Brendan's voice when he's in tune, but it can ruin the performance when he's not.
Just went to all three nights at Higher Ground and I will have to say that some of the new stuff they played was awesome. Especially cemetary walk with Dave Grippo and Jennifer Hartswick sitting in.
i completely disagree. pitch correction would totally destroy the amazingly organic feel of BB's voice. i mean, you woudn't put a pitch correction on Dylan, even though the old bastard can't sing for shit. being sharp/flat is a characteristic of their voices, and what makes them so unique and human.
vocals are way dope, maybe not the worlds best live, but they are good. they have substance and are borad enough to relate them to just about any aspect of the human element. umphreys is the future of music. these guys will rock for years and years to come , sooo innovative and influenced by so many different types of music , jazz , metal , str8 up rock n roll. umphreys mcgee owns shit right now. if you can find me a better band out NOW , i would surely like to hear them! @optimisprime420 I'm not going to try and tell you there's a better band because there's no sense arguing over perspective but since you seem interested in good music (which Umphrey's McGee certainly is) I highly recommend Radiohead. If you haven't heard of them check out their songs "Paranoid Android", "High and Dry", and throw in a little "Knives Out" for good measure.

i completely disagree. pitch correction would totally destroy the amazingly organic feel of BB's voice. i mean, you woudn't put a pitch correction on Dylan, even though the old bastard can't sing for shit. being sharp/flat is a characteristic of their voices, and what makes them so unique and human.

vocals are way dope, maybe not the worlds best live, but they are good. they have substance and are borad enough to relate them to just about any aspect of the human element. umphreys is the future of music. these guys will rock for years and years to come , sooo innovative and influenced by so many different types of music , jazz , metal , str8 up rock n roll. umphreys mcgee owns shit right now. if you can find me a better band out NOW , i would surely like to hear them! @optimisprime420 I'm not going to try and tell you there's a better band because there's no sense arguing over perspective but since you seem interested in good music (which Umphrey's McGee certainly is) I highly recommend Radiohead. If you haven't heard of them check out their songs "Paranoid Android", "High and Dry", and throw in a little "Knives Out" for good measure.

But as for the Dave thing, I am talking more about the vocals than anything. I saw Dave at Bonnaroo this past year and they rocked, but UM does have a better vibe. If only they were strictly instrumental...
