  • this is a jam me and you girl love danny fraijo in la puente girl

  • ok thanks alot!!!!

  • why are people so caught up on the orgin of a lot of these old school artist? who cares, all I know is this was the joint, and i'm a black man if it matters.

  • Floyd Fisher who is jewish co-wrote and produced this track....people need to do better research before they post what they believe to be facts./....

  • here another example Canadas France Jolis, "come to me" which is a euro disco track, was produced and mixed in Phili.....and the producer Tony Green is italian....does that make it italo-disco because Tony is italian? of course not.....

  • Just enjoy the music and stop all the fussing

  • Yes this is freestyle, and its also disco. It depends on the dance club its played in but this song is both. Its no Latin freestyle because the singer and producer are Italian, so that would technically make it Italo-disco/Freestyle/Old school Eurodance. I'm a DJ and avid music collector.

  • @ColdHeartsEnt your another idiot, being italian is "latin"......and for your info, the producer was not italian, he was jewish....thats 2 strikes, 1 more, your out.....

  • @ColdHeartsEnt so let me ge tthis straight, because it wasnt produced by a "latin" (spanish) it therefore cannot be latin freestyle...then you post, because the producer was italian, (which is incorrect) it would make it italo-disco----ok so then, does that mean all of Giorgio Moroders recordings with donna summer are italo disco? for the record, italo-disco is a sound, the producer can be black, white, yellow, or purple, it doesnt matter where in the world its produced.......unreal

  • @discovery781 This is freestyle in my book. And I remember when it came out!

  • and BTW, the industry looked at freestyle and marketed it as "dance/pop"-----it was the fans who labled it freestyle.....

  • best music ever!!!! freestyle!!!

  • JUNIOR HIGH

  • This is NYC Freestyle music. Not disco, not even close, and definitely not Hi NRG.

  • @sckarr1 your an idiot, of course its disco, its a sub genre of disco, as is house, high-energy, and countless other forms of dance music...you just failed music 101

  • @discovery781 -- Thank you for your courteous comment and maturity in answer. Please visit Wikipedia and type in Freestyle Music. A person must get facts before they go around calling another person an idiot or it could be that you look like an idiot for not knowing what you are talking about. Again, thanks for your mature comment.

  • @sckarr1 wikipedia? LOL, if you have to look up what freestyle is on wiki, then you obviously were to young to live the era, and too young to see the transition of disco from the 70s to the 80s....not only are my facts straight, but i worked in the music industry in the late 70s to the early 80s....i guess no one ever told you that Wiki is only as good as the person who typed the info---and that info is not always accurate...you need to get your facts straight, not i

  • @sckarr1 for the record, i dont like using wiki because its known to not always be accurate---- people like you will read it and think its gospel, and peole like me sit back and laugh at people like you because you dont know any better---with that said, if you look up the term 'disco' on wiki, it does reference early 80s latin freestyle as a sub genre....you need a good lesson in disco and its sub-genres

  • Try Company B as well...

  • At the time, we called it Hi NRG. Other artists include Expose, Sweet Sensation and Stevie B.

  • At the time, we called it Hi NRG.

  • she got a cute accent

  • This is NYC Freestyle - prevalent in the 80's right along side the Hip Hop & House music explosion that was happening in all the 5 boroughs of the NYC - this combination had all the clubs banging out till 6 in the morning & beyond!

  • classic 86-87!!! wow!!!

  • Turn it up!!!

  • litle girl from italy rocks

  • OMG when I was growing up this song was the S@%T. It was my last summer in Detroit This was the JAM!!!

  • freestyle, freestyle, freestyle!!!! that is what is.

  • thanks man in trinidad we call this disco!!!!

  • Clasico de los 80, summertime summertime, que viva YOUTUBE.

  • what genre of music this is in my country its known as old school disco.... styles like this & noel silent morning is known as disco also... so let me know!!!! thank u

  • @slimjohnify Freestyle

  • @slimjohnify - This is known as freestyle music. A genre created in the early 80s by New York born Puerto Ricans or Nuyoricans. If you google Freestyle music, you will come across a very large number of Puerto Rican artists within his genre. And there were some people who weren't Puerto Rican but still created songs in the same style as well. Noel is Puerto Rican but Nocera is not.

  • @LaTainaIndia And Noel is, by definition, Nuyorican.

  • @torr59622 - So am I. Technically. Except WE, do not perpetuate division between those who happen to be born on the island & those in the U.S. Ask him, he'll say the same I'm sure. In anticipation for your next possible comment regarding classification, my initial comment was based on the desire to honor those ancestors correctly. Caribbean native American can never be considered, even remotely, as Latin.

  • Except for the fact that they speak a Latin language derivative called Spanish, I see your point. But you mention a different issue-being born stateside and on the island. You dont have to perpetuate a difference-the difference exists, especially to those who were born before WWII. This then begs the question-should people be considered Puerto Rican who exist in America diasporically, or Americans who happen to be ethnically Puerto Rican and just part of the melting pot?

  • @torr59622 - Yes, I do. There is nothing I can do about that except maybe go back in time & change the conquest. Lol it's the same issue, Nuyorican (Stateside) & Puerto Rican (Island born). The fact is, we, here, do not call ourselves Nuyorican. We call ourselves Puerto Rican. I'm not sure if I can answer your question, just myself alone. That would be something to be addressed collectively to everyone as a whole. We still say Puerto Rican & we're all born here.

  • At what point does living in this country constitute being American first and Puerto Rican second? Arent all of our collective interests American? You may make Pasteles at Xmas, but hamburgers and pizza are used just as much. What happens if u marry an Italian guy, and your children marry WASP\Mexican\Irish? There has to be a way for us to not be so negatively segmented. The Caribbean and Latin America is a melting pot itself-when do we change the splinter Identifications in the US?

  • "We still say Puerto Rican & we're all born here" ............Is this not as incorrect as describing the "Caribbean" as "Latin America"? Describing oneself as "Puerto Rican" when you are born under the US flag is factually incorrect. Yet, one could be born in Puerto Rico and be considered "American". You have any idea how many I come across who think you need a passport to travel to San Juan?

  • @torr59622 -It is what it is.Millions of us born here, who live here & speak English as our 1st language, still call ourselves Puerto Rican.I think it may be because we don't want to lose our cultural connection. Not sure who coined the term, Nuyorican, if it was a U.S. based sociologist, Puerto Ricans on the island or our very selves born here but it's stressed by those born on the island to perpetuate division. It is sad. I'm not surprised @ the passport assumption. It is the Caribbean.

  • Hopefully the division from the island is only the older people Ive been around. If you are younger than say 40, the island is interchangable with states. I like the "is what it is" saying. It fits to a lot of topics.

  • @torr59622 - Unfortunately, it isn't.But people will always find a way to highlight one's differences instead of perpetuating unity. 1 of humanity's many downfalls. It is what it is ;-)

  • I just finished a book from Rutgers Prof Lorrin Thomas about politics in PR NYork community from 1920-1970. She goes into pretty good detail about the division among people from the Caribbean and the PR community overall. An interesting read to say the least-although I think to deny that a European "white" influence existed in Caribbean culture is the same as denying any other part.

  • @torr59622 - Sounds interesting but what you suggest couldn't possible be what I did especially since the very core of this conversation is about honoring the lost ancestors. If the conquest didn't occur to begin with, the ancestors wouldn't need remembering at all.

  • The core of the conversation morphed a little bit.

  • @slimjohnify FREESTYLE YOU MEAN!

  • @slimjohnify I've seen it called a myriad of different things, sometimes things which make reference to the albums it has been featured on.

Freestyle, Latin power pop, or simply, Dance. And, if you look up Bass Bomb, you'll find alot of this type of music as well. I'm not sure if it ever had an official title. The 80's was a rush of different music styles morphing and cross-breeding with one another, so it can be very tricky to delineate what was known as what. Hope that all made sense. :)

  • @slimjohnify This is FREESTYLE music that is the actual name for it. In some parts of Texas an d Caliornia we called it Chichi Ra Ra music....

  • @slimjohnify - Latin Hip Hop : - )

  • @groovetraxx nocera is from italybut, yea defintly latin flavor

  • @danoto1000 Italians are Latin people too...

  • @MurgasonYage i think latins are cool but italians are not latin and i have to give it to the puertoricans they tore it up with the free style

  • @danoto1000 Italians are the original latins - and i'm not lying

  • @MurgasonYage - Italians are Latin. Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Mexicans, Central & S. Americans are not Latin nor Latin American. That term is incorrect in defining the people of such locales. It's just been used for so long that people have gotten used to using it in its incorrectness.

  • @LaTainaIndia Wrong. Latin America encompasses the Carribean. The Caribean islands were founded under the flag of Spain, but branched out to later be owned by French, English and Dutch, populated by African slaves throughout the 15-1800's.Portuguese settled Brazil. All of those languages derive from Latin, hence the term. But its all splitting hairs no?Latin shouldnt be an identity, and I think thats where u were headed. So I agree there.

  • @torr59622 - No, I'm right. I am Caribbean myself. You're definitely not telling me anything new about myself, my people or my heritage. Since it's derivative of the language & conquest, it is incorrect. There were inhabitants of native descent occupying these areas. To cite them in determining category would be more appropriate. This is a mislabeling that needs to cease already. But until, we collectively come up with a more accurate term, it will have to be this wrong one.

  • Why is it necessary to have a label at all? US demographers are the ones obsessed with labeling. Attempting to create a "one size fits all" term is futile. And Whats with the "my people, my heritage" attitude. My Parents are from Puerto rico and Cuba, and my Grandparents immigrated there from the Canary Islands over 120 years ago. I dont have an issue with either term for the region, but ethnicity is a personal choice.

  • @torr59622 - In today's society apparently. How else would demographics be addressed? "What's with" the "my people", "my heritage" UNDERSTANDING is that the ancestors should be respected & not mislabeled. If it doesn't bother you then maybe it's because your heritage doesn't stem from that leaf. I don't know, I'm not sure why it doesn't bother you but I do know that it bothers me that millions died b/c of genocide & their memory is deserving of @ the very least, the truth.

  • Conquest and oppression were not White Europe's creation. On the islands and elsewhere tribal warring existed. I wont deny the atrocities in the name of the crown and GOd-but all these centuries later I dont get riled up over simple-minded descriptions that I didnt create. Latin America is just a term describing the region-But if you want me to start referring to it as the Carribean for ancestral respect-so be it.

  • @torr59622 -In this case it was.& regardless if there was tribal warring,it doesn't make it right. All these centuries later, fact is fact & respect is due.If u don't care, then say that but don't confuse correction & discourse with getting "riled up".Even if I did I don't need your permission to do so.It's this very passive attitude that continues to perpetuate incorrect history.Like I said if you don't care then don't.If u do, then simply respect it. In the end,the ancestors should be honored.
