to my fellow shipmates- served in 59 and now serve with 131- their TA version. Any sapper out there should try the AACC not only will you feel proud to wear a green lid but also it will help your career path in the Regular Army. Plus we are one of few units within the corps who hold a reunion- that's what i'm talking about- you forge friends for life in 59 or now 24 Cdo Regt RE

@rhyoul first you do phase 1, then phase 2 combat engineering and then your trade which will be your driving course then you can volunteer to go on the all arms commando course

I was wanting to become an apprentice joiner, but couldn't get an apprenticeship, so I did a week of army work experience in Penicuik, Edinburgh and now thinking of royal engineers as carpenter

The beat up has changed too 3 weeks conditioning then 4 weeks tactical before you go to lympstone! Dont get any impression that its got soft down there cause it hasnt! If you like going on exercise join commando engineers cause your pretty much on excercise for 10 weeks, if you like running and PT join Para engineers! yeah tarzan assault course need to be done quicker, 9 miler needs to be done quicker, endearuns course done quicker and the 30 mile yomp across dartmoore needs to be done 1 hour quicker!
Apparently the difference in the time frame assinged to non officers and officers during the AACC, is very minimal. The only exception is the 30 mile yomp.

these aircraft spanner wankers, then did the R M course, there was No all arms course.

The beat up has changed too 3 weeks conditioning then 4 weeks tactical before you go to lympstone! Dont get any impression that its got soft down there cause it hasnt! If you like going on exercise join commando engineers cause your pretty much on excercise for 10 weeks, if you like running and PT join Para engineers! If you wanna have a laugh and get smashed every weekend and shag fit easten europeans.....defo go germany!!!

yeah tarzan assault course need to be done quicker, 9 miler needs to be done quicker, endearuns course done quicker and the 30 mile yomp across dartmoore needs to be done 1 hour quicker!

Apparently the difference in the time frame assinged to non officers and officers during the AACC, is very minimal. The only exception is the 30 mile yomp.

I was in the USMC and had manuvers with seals marine recon, aussie troops but the ROK marines in Korea made all of them look like little kids playing army in the back yard. If i knew those guys were looking for me I would run screaming like a little girl with freddy kroger chasing her. I'm looking for someone who was based at Chivenor with the Marines around 1996/1997, he went to Norway in Jan 97. His name is Darren 'Col' Collier from Bicester and would be around 34 now. Last I heard he was leaving the Marines & moving to London to work around 2001.

Right fuckwit, If you had served more than 5 minutes, then you'll realise 59 is not CDOLOGS. You'll also be aware that RM don't go on ops without 59 (proper jobs???WTF) You can clean up your mess. I suggest you wind it in, sonny. There is a reason 3 CDO has expanded the RE contingent to a regiment within the brigade. I have worked with booty a lot and you're no better than any line infantry regiment, just better at self publicity.

@atae4 I Was there buddy with 59 1Tp, i remeber being told that blokes would drop when we arrived it was white flags are us no real dramas, u make it sound like a ww2 us and them blazing at each other, since then i served in Afghan Op herric 9 along side 45 Cdo we worked hard not just on camp/FOB maintaience be that electrics, water or construction but every patrol booty took 59 were there and we took hits the same, we sweated and bleed cried and laughed alongside each other. be a brother!

@atae4 Commando is a Boer word, not Portuguese, Yes we may have done a course at CTC and are entitled to wear the COVETED Green Beret and wear the Cdo Dagger on our left arm.
Yes both the SAS and the Parachute Regiement came out of the World War Two Commando's.
I met some execellent Sappers in both 9 and 59 but I must admit I had some good memories of Condor Troop

Jakemeister remember everyone does their basic training in the Army. Then they specialize into their chosen jobs which adds more weeks to the training. you just stick to your grunt work and leave the intelligent soldiering to the all arms boys. After all we did your course and tests quite easily but I bet you couldn't do our work.
By the way I was in 2 Commando Troop. 29 EOD SQN. I bet you didn't even serve. In fact I bet your real name is Walter Mitty. (Look him up)

the commando tests are not about just doing them after 12 weeks its about doing them after 30 weeks of hard sleep depriving training when u aint got the energy, to dig deep and do the tests. AACC is piss to the full course
