  • Those bombs have Intended to kill more civilians than enamy.American wars are still the same, world knows that.

  • @VERGIS92

The planes back then did not have that capability.

  • can't a pilot just eject while on the ground?

  • Gerald the man who ran towards the Fire with a Extinguisher was a hero who wanted to encourage the other men into action....

  • Wait a minute! How did those A-4's and F-4's mutate into F-18's? Or was it the other way around?

  • fuckin morons going on about McDonnell Douglas aircraft failing.....Completely dumb ass comments... did you all not pay any attention to the documentary or were you all sat jerking off to yer mom n dad havin sex.... Had they have followed safety procedures... this wouldnt have happened... had nothing to do with the plane... Dumb aysuss!.

  • @tom211t

Trolls and fanboys will always be trolls and fanboys. They are a plague upon the earth, but if ignored they will eventually go away.

  • oh what a tragedy that these bombs didn't reach to bomb Vietnamese civilians

  • That's to show that McDonnell Douglas failed both in commercial and military aviation. It's good that Boeing took over MD.

  • Anybody else think the audio is too low??

  • @Jetherz yes it is, and the sound is also strange...

  • @honborg haha. that basically drops the main reason of this video. How can you watch a documentary without a narrator.. or any other audio.. :D

  • and i also love how the ship looks after the explosion

  • on second thought they could also drop bombs

  • lol this would be a good time for nazi to bring in their supertankers and rain extra oil onto the ship xD and rub more salt into the wound. LOL

  • This is one of the best episodes of S.F.D I think. Very informative and well put together. Many thanks for uploading it.

RIP all the 134 service men who lost their lives in this dreadful tragedy. My heart goes out to you.

  • For me it's better when bombs explode on the ship, on which the persons are paid for the war, than in maybe in villages or somewhere else where many or maybe only civillians are killed killed.

  • @Lordi79 Think so? How about you put your money where your mouth is. Send this comment and your home address to:

    The Pentagon

    Washington D 20350

USS Forrestal Historical Society and Museum

    Senator John McCain

If you don't know your address, GPS coordinates will work too. I'm sure you can expect a visit from someone who doesn't give a shit about you shortly. Keep a webcam handy so your friends can act outraged.

  • Well, bombs explode. Is it any worse that they explode on a warship, than if they explode in some foreign village? People will still die, and get maimed, US servicemen's lives are no more or less valuable than the lives of those that the bombs were intended to murder.

  • @mokum777 To answer your first question, yes. To respond to your first statement, yes they are. Any other misconceptions I can clear up for you before I sit down and watch the game with a beer?

  • @rogerdotlee Well, if non-american lives are worth less than american lives, why are so many US servicemen put at risk, supposedly to spread "freedom" to their worthless lives? Wouldn't be a way to steal natural resources now, would it?

  • @mokum777 Well, I could tell you, but then I'd have to bomb you and everyone you loved back into the stone age (which, admittedly, would probably be a change of about two or three weeks, judging by your commentary). Now why don't you run along with your little misconceptions and go play somewhere else before you end up hurting yourself?

  • @mokum777 Those bombs were not meant to MURDER anyone!! They were supposed to be used in a completely legal and moral way to neutralise enemy combatants. True, some did land and kill innocent civilians, but that is COLLATERAL DAMAGE! I don't mean to sound coldhearted, but if you engage in modern warfare, innocents are gonna die. Fact. US servicemen's lives are MORE valuable than the lives of those that the bombs were intended to neutralize because they stood for freedom while the enemy did not.

  • They should the forrestal a floating memorial/museum

  • Thumbs up if you noticed John McCain being listed on the pilot mission roster at minute 3:58

  • well thats what you get for using bombs that date back to ww2

  • Saved a buck on old bombs, resulted in having to jetison a few hundred million dollars worth of planes.

    Go figure.

  • @Serostern they weren't saving quick bucks they ran out of new bombs and had to use old bombs to keep up the pressure in war.

  • @pushpak8880 Yeah. Instead of paying for new bombs they used old, hence saving a buck.

  • for the soundtrack of Seconds from disaster:

    /watch?v=zxYgZfN-EIg&feature=channel_video_title

  • It's tad quite

  • what happened to the old narrators??????????

  • They got old? At least that's what's happening to me. :o)

  • And again a douglas plane fails

  • @juventusfan8 Douglas/McDonnel Douglas have made some of the most reliable and well tested planes ever created.

  • @juventusfan8 You do know that the F4 Phantom is normally the best Vietnam War Fighter Plane ever you know that?

  • @juventusfan8

    Lockheed trolls fuck off

  • Farrier was a real hero

  • 04:50 - "I'd like to think he was my first love...." Such touching words from a fine woman....

  • I havent seen this one, thanks for uploading.

  • what happened to the ship after the disaster

  • @titanic5577 After half a year of repairs it continued to serve and took part in the 1st Iraq War. It served until 1993.

  • @titanic5577 Went in for emergency repairs in the Philippines, was further fixed up and was kept in service until decommissioning in 1993. Currently it will suffer one of three fates: use as a target, sold as scrap, or scuttled as an artificial reef. Serious thanks to Wikipedia for the gauge.

  • @rogerdotlee

She's due to be scuttled as an artifical reef, but since her diesign was the basis for the Nimitz Class Super Carriers we use today, she'll be sunk in Deep Water

  • @snakes3425 Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware that her fate had been decided. Good to know she'll be going in deep water (and understandable).

  • @rogerdotlee

This wasn't the first time a major disaster hit a carrier off Vietnam three carriers suffered deadly fires, the first in October 1966 was a fire erupted on USS Oriskany when a sailor accidentally set off a magnisum flare and in a panic threw it into a storage locker with other flares on the starboard side of Hanger Deck 1 killing 44 crewmen, the second was of course the Forrestal the third happened in January 1969 when a Zuni rocket exploded on the flight deck of USS Enterprise
