She definitely wasn't at her best that night. Simon was on Ellen Degeneres' show sometime after this performance, and he said that he still likes Fantasia. In his opinion, he felt that she just made a bad choice with her choice of song and performance. That's it! And he's not the only one that thought the same way!

First off Broadway is NO small forum. A lot of really groundbreaking albums are sleepers. Fantasia has not recorded in 2 years b/c she has been on Broadway. While she was on Broadway her last album was in the top 20 Billboard so YES in my opinion she is the most GROUNDBREAKING Idol.
Does she have a record contract that you are aware of? Several of the AI top 12 have had a stint on Broadway, it's just kind of expected, Broadway hires them soon after their season for the name value. BTW how long ago was her Broadway appearance?

Simon's NOT fake though, osahju914. If he honestly didn't dig what Fantasia did, he wouldn't have bothered to clap, despite the movement of his eyes. I mean, if you look at the pace of the entire show up until Fantasia performance, it was moving pretty slow & in standard 'AI' fashion. Fantasia hits the stage and the entire building (along with millions of TV viewers) are taken from 0 to 100mph in less than 60sec. In true Fantasia fashion, it was like an ambush on the senses.
If they were smart, the 'AI' contestants should've been taking note! This is truly how you ENTERTAIN and evoke the spirit of the music you're performing.

Simon was on Jay Leno last night and they replayed the clip of him in shock. He told Jay that he was thinking, "what the bloody hell was that?! That isn't the Fantasia we remembered with the red hair, screaming, horrible dancing.." LOL! It was great..
You can say what you want, but Simon actually clapped for her at the end of the performance. I believe he was just initially in shock at the amount of energy she put into that show. Although, his reaction is still priceless. lol. At teaching them a vocation that they can get a job with right out of school. She has seen some kids who seemed hopeless rise to the top and get college scholarships, becuase of the extra time she spends with them after school, but THEY have to make the effort to stay after school, she has only had 3 or 4 kids to this. Two of them ended up w/ National Merit Awards and full-ride scholarships. She takes no crap or backtalk from any of them. You might say she is getting "combat pay"

Say what you want, but this performance was AMAZING. She is taking it back old school - Straight up Funk and Rock and Roll. Get wit it everyone. The picture perfect, soft voice, innocent image is going to be a thing of the past with Fantasia on the scene. She is making things FUNKY again and that should make hollywood interesting again. Yes Tina meets Aretha = Fantasia! We'll never be bored again. Hahahaha, I love it.

Since I have a life and I can recognize when others DON'T...I will just leave it as: I saw Tasia on the Color Purple in June 07 and she was remarkable. IMO is the ONLY idol WINNER (not runner up or contestant) that is really doing things. YES to my knowledge she has a deal b/c she is releasing an album. In fact I have insight as to a calabo she has done doing with an artist from my area thats on the album. Whatever people are bitching about on here w/ regards to her is just HATERATION IMO

I don't know why everybody's getting so worked up on this video post. I just think Simon's expression is priceless! I made the same face when I saw this performance, too! She definitely wasn't at her best that night. Simon was on Ellen Degeneres' show sometime after this performance, and he said that he still likes Fantasia. In his opinion, he felt that she just made a bad choice with her choice of song and performance. That's it! And he's not the only one that thought the same way!

IF you want to know what Simon was thinking check it out, on Jay Leno he said he was thinking "what the bloody hell was that" and he said it was like a "first round audition disaster". The same thing I already said (no applause please). What does "waring" mean? You keep saying that but I don't know what waring means.

I was at my next door neighbor's watching this. We were all sitting around, stunned. Her 2-year-old was on the floor in front of tv and turned around, she had the most pitiful, frightened face you can imagine. She started crying hysterically, it took awhile to calm her down. This crazy chick scares babies! Her career never went anywhere, I guess she was paying us all back this night!. Crazy scary.

Simon explained tonight on the Jay Leno show about Fantasia s performance he was like "What was that ? ... the red hair , the screaming , etc ..." thats why he had this face ... Well ... too bad you don t get this Simon because a lot of us do and she is just an incredible singer and ferocious entertainer ... I was blown away by her fantastic appearance on AI last week

She doesn't even have a record contract. Amazon lists her at #4,653 in sales. Let me go check Kelly C or Clay A or Carrie U at Amazon. Just be real ok?

First off Broadway is NO small forum. A lot of really groundbreaking albums are sleepers. Fantasia has not recorded in 2 years b/c she has been on Broadway. While she was on Broadway her last album was in the top 20 Billboard so YES in my opinion she is the most GROUNDBREAKING Idol.

what not alotta people know yet is that Oprah and everyone was astounded by her amazing performance in THE COLOR PURPLE on broadway that Fantasia has now signed on to play the same role in the new COLOR PURPLE musical movie that is in the works right now...she is starting filming after she gets back from her tour....i saw Fantasia live in Color Purple in September of 07...cried the whole time she was so dynamic and real and ..LOUD!!

It cracks me up that people actually believe that he has a stunned look because he is in awe of her great performance. His look was clearly a, "What the hell was that I just saw." He then gives a look over to Randy as if to say, "Did you just witness what I just witnessed." Randy gives a knowing head nod and rolls his eyes and then they both give her a courtesy clap.

Simon's NOT fake though, osahju914. If he honestly didn't dig what Fantasia did, he wouldn't have bothered to clap, despite the movement of his eyes. I mean, if you look at the pace of the entire show up until Fantasia performance, it was moving pretty slow & in standard 'AI' fashion. Fantasia hits the stage and the entire building (along with millions of TV viewers) are taken from 0 to 100mph in less than 60sec. In true Fantasia fashion, it was like an ambush on the senses.

exactly. I was thinking the exact same thing. Sure, ppl thought of it the wrong way as if he was SO SHOCKED because he was amazed but because he didn't quite get it! I didn't even have to examine his face closely to see the difference between 'the look of shocking brilliance' or the 'look of absolute horror/dismay'. But in the end, he had to clap. it's only polite. :)

Simon was on Jay Leno last night and they replayed the clip of him in shock. He told Jay that he was thinking, "what the bloody hell was that?! That isn't the Fantasia we remembered with the red hair, screaming, horrible dancing.." LOL! It was great..

You can say what you want, but Simon actually clapped for her at the end of the performance. I believe he was just initially in shock at the amount of energy she put into that show. Although, his reaction is still priceless. lol. If Simon honestly didn't like it, as all AI viewers know, he wouldn't have clapped AND we would've heard about just how much he hated it on every showbiz news report by now.

I totally agree with you CitySon. That's just what I thought when I watched this on tv. I admit it that his facial expression could make one think he's thinking "What the....?" but he often has that expression on his face, and I honestly don't think he realizes it.
