  • Thank you! and thank you youtube and internet! when i first got this keyboard i spent hours and never could find a way to split sounds! now you show it very clear and easy! thanks again for the help

  • new to the yamaha combi (layering) mode. Will the motif 8 store the layered instrument created and how do I locate it on the fly? I have worked with Korg extreme 88 which seems more disorganized for creating layered sounds.. Scottlerock

  • @scottlerock you'll have to memorize the key binding to access it, OR, add it to your favorites.

  • This shit pisses me off on a 61 key. I cant get the right octave for the sounds i want to split.

  • @nugster1 You may have to change the octave of the original instrument/sound you are including in your split. So, say you want to include strings in your split, but they're an octave too high where you want them in your split, so you'll have to change the original string sound/patch to what you want, so that when you include it into your split, it'll be in the correct octave you want it at. Kind of a hassle, but necessary.

  • hey bro how do set favorite voice for a live setting so i can change voices seamlessly i have a xs8 hope they work alike!!

  • @vibestouch1 Its better to do this in Performance Mode (needless to say,) but once you've chosen your sound, press "Category Search," then your sound should already be highlighted. Now press either SF3 or SF4 (should say "SET/CLR" on the screen, then press Enter, and it should save. To access your favorites, press "Category Search," and then "Drumkits/Favorites"..at least thats how it works on the ES series; I'm not too familiar with the XS. You can also memorize the patch number..User B-C21 etc

  • @PSPGENIUS714 thanks u very much bro this really help bcus i have a show coming up and im not so familiar with that keys!!!!!!!!!!!! thks again bro...........!

  • @vibestouch1 not a problem, man! glad i helped!

  • One question...

How do I add effects to The "Nylon Guitar" pre set and the safe them without having to safe the changes as a user preset????

  • thx

  • how do you save the split settings you create into user 1 voice ?

  • @gelloman123 press "Store" and then "Enter".

  • Please quick question. How do i edit octave of each voice "not general octave", but to raise or lower the octave of each voice. Thank you

  • @annointedsundave Edit>Element/Perf. 1 (2, 3, or 4)>Tone

  • How do you save the the split settings you create into user 1 voice?

  • Nice one! I have one issue.. I have split my motif with bass part on left and lead on right but how can I shift the octave of the lead part down without messing up all the split parts? Because when I am using the octave shift buttons, all parts are being shifted! I just want to lead sound to come down an octave so it's not to high! Really appreciate your help man!

  • @SjRks alright so what you do is go to your sound and press "Edit," press 1-4 (any number 1-4 in the element/performance partzone section), press F4 to get to the "Tone" screen, and then change the "NoteShift" value of whatever channel (1, 2, 3, or 4) your synth sound is to +12 or -12 and there you go! and be sure to save it!

  • @PSPGENIUS714 Bloody genius!! Nice one man, much help! Cheers!

  • @PSPGENIUS714 this post was a huge help...thanks man

    greetings from slovenia

  • Very cool and very nice of you! Many many thanks...i am a veteran keyboard player strugglin with my Motif ES 88...All the Best and thanks so much for your help!

    Kevin Quinn

  • @kquinn59 no problem!

  • can you split one part of the keyboard (for example- have one part bass and one half keys)

but possible layer the keys section and leave the other half as pure bass

  • @amunroe3 i showed how to do this in the video.

  • @PSPGENIUS714 my mistake man.....

i see what you mean....but some of the sounds i tried to layer still had effects on them....how do i take off those effects?

  • @amunroe3 usually, the easiest way to cancel all effects is to enable the insertion bypass. an alternative is to disable the effects for the individual sounds and then save them, and THENNN recompile a Performance sound/split using those.

  • Thanks man .

  • @zsoltgyorgy no problem, man!

  • Hi, Wery helpfuly this tutorial.. Can u tel me how do you creat a neew performance on Motir Es 7 , And also to create new drums for performance, if any posibiliti to use the Motif like a arranger keyboard?? sory for my english..

  • @zsoltgyorgy creating a performance is the same as creating a user sound. creating new drums for a performance is the same, as well; in the sense that you want to have one drum sound from, for example, a user kit, to be usable in performance mode. you can, indeed, use the motif es like a MIDI keyboard either via USB-MIDI or MIDI-in and MIDI-out, using an interface.

  • Yo bro you the man!!!!! Thanks!!

  • @Dadee3 haha i'm glad i helped, doc.
