yeah poverty.....but not like people think in Appalachia. I live here and it really pisses me off when people announce it. It's not like New York or something. Ive NEVER seen a homeless person on the streets here bumming. Ive never seen kids go hungry here cause of crack. We are simple mountain folk, right so we can kill edible things. The only time Ive ever seen poor POOR people is when I went to San Antonio. Not here.

Im from Southeastern Ky. so Appalachia to say the least. It dose make me mad when someone says everyone down there is poor, cause everyone isnt. However my point is poverty is everywhere. I agree there is people worst off in the US then their is in Appalachia. Ive never seen a homeless person in my hometown, however I have in many other cities.

@Love2101 When I first came to the States and learned about Appalachia, the first things ppl in the cities were mentioning was hillbillies, inbreds and that sortta stuff. But reccently I saw a video on appalachian cooking - that stuff is amazing. Alone the mushrooms, there are types that don't even exist here in Europe anymore! Bear, squirrel, all excellent meat that ppl here don't eat no longer.

The only thing bugging was that fried liverworst - now, that's a sacrilege over here!
