30% if not more are made because of the AWESOME background music. You said "it could be better", well, there is like no music at all there. Farts in the bathtub-like basslines and...well, there is nothing more than some bass soundeffects. This can't be called "music".
the snes version is something that just shouldent of been attempted because the snes is just not powerfull enough to handle theat game so that means that its crap on the snes cos the visual graphics are worse than looking at blue waffle but the sounds is quite good but its not a pretty sight
DUDE! a c?!?! for doom? are u drunk or sumthin doom is da best game ever and i say this game shud get a A+. In my opinion though doom for gba is the best 1 out of all of them cause its the first portable doom
I really think the PS1 version of Doom is the best console version out there. 32x could have been better, but I can't over the music and missing levels.
i guess the monsters always face the player in this port as well. other than that, and some subtle detail missing from the levels, and only 2 out of 4 episodes, i'd say it looks very close to the original PC version
Doom wasn't created for kids at all, if they played it that's the parents fault only, besides if you don't allow kid to play what it wants it really be playing it behind your back, so go away with your Jack Thompson like comments because of people like you many think of us gamers that we're like heartless beasts, besides go whine about Call of Duty, there you murder human beings, in doom you only annihilate the Demons and Zombies...
@trailerboy415 I didn't enjoy this version at all and not because of the missing levels, the controls are awful, the songs sound nothing like the PC version, the game nauseates me heavily, a hand full of enemies are missing. Plus the SNES version came out months after and considering that the SNES is 16 bit system running a 32 Bit game, people should be wowed that it's even running Doom. And yet this guy expects everything from the PC version to be in the SNES. Plus, who cares about graphics?
Seems kinda silly to compare this to Doom 64, Doom 64 was released years later. I thought the Snes version was terrible, and that also released long after the 32x version.
@BillyBetYT Either comparison isn't really a fair one. The 32x, unlike the Super FX chip, is a dedicated add-on with completely 32-bit hardware. To be honest, that Doom even manages to run on SNES period seems like a miracle to me. Atleast the chip makes it look alot better than Wolfenstein SNES, and uncensored to boot.
The SNES version is very good, decent framerate, good graphics and sound and more levels. impresive for that 16 bits thing, i really don't know why they don't make a doom 2 for it...
It's a good game but Doom 64 for N64 is my fav. Large, mind-twisting, dark and scary...looks great, sounds simply insane, moves incredibly smooth, controls perfect with N64 pad and...is a hell fun blast to play! If You haven't played it - do it NOW!
Totally true, it's even scarier than Doom 3 IMO. I mean, just listen to those musics! Not to mention that the Pinky looks WAY more threatening than in Doom 1, for instance.
Doom 64 is one of the only console Doom titles I REALLY like.
I know they were 2d sprites. In the PC version, they had different angles(Back, side, front) so you can sneak up from behind. In the SNES and 32X version, they only had the "Front" sprite for the enemy
ive got this on an actual 32x, its great. I dont understand why people compare it to the snes which really is, a worse port. 32x is so smooth to play doom on.. better than 3do, jaguar and saturn for framerates in my opinion.. the enemies can still damage each other even though they face you. this with the 'nightmare' mode gives doom 32x more replay value than the others. im a proud owner of ALL dooms and each console to play them on and this port is one of the best = FACT!its why i bought my 32x
You fail to mention that enemies now only have one facing - toward the player. This eliminates their ability to fight each other. This port was a huge disappointment even to game-starved 32x owners.
Good review. I have to say from playing this game only on the PC since 1995 the PC versionso of Doom are the best. The only good thing about them being on consoles and the GBA is convenience if your on the go or don't own a PC.
I love these reviews.

the 3do version has the best music and sound (thats the one I grew up with)
the jaguar version runs the smoothest
the 32x version gives me a nostalgic feel when I play it although the sound sucks and half the levels are missing

You're a child. why can't you just say what you think of the game, instead of what other reviewers think of it?

3 episodes in SNES version to correct you. 4 are in Ultimate Doom.

the only thing I noticed about the 32X version is that the enemies always Face you, meaning you can't sneak up behind them.
DukeNukem2020 3 years ago 2
.... well this is because the enemies are 2d sprites and it was in the pc version the same.
