Magnificent Movie about warriors, though. Right up there with The Magnificent Seven.
@1111hola loloolool? the spanish murdered and raped every human in south america and central america, raped every women killed every man and stole all their gold....and you are telling me that they have even a little bit of honor?
@Jonathangrinshpan you know... if the spanish were insulted they went into war with that country. if any allies of them was attacked, they got themselves into war to defend it, whatever their situation was. and i believe that you dont really know what honor means. The samurais also killed people. Every country on earth has killed people. Did you know the samurais, in the times of the divine wind, practiced anatomy on their prisoners...alive? they cut their bodies to see how good the katana was?
@1111hola The Samurai was a way of honor unmatchable by any other culture in history. The respect they had for their people, and their enemies, and the respect given unto them is simply unmatchable. Sure, at one point Spain was committed and honorable, but not like the Samurai. Not like the people of Japan back than. What honorable people they were. And don't act like the Spanish never committed cruelties, every culture had it's cruelties.
@1111hola I didn't call the spanish cruel. But I'm sorry, the honor of the Samurai outranks any other culture in the history of the world. Theres not much room to argue
@Jonathangrinshpan The warrior caste in 'most' societies around the world are known to have held those values in just as high a regard. Educate yourself before making stupidly generalized statements. I bet you don't know about Ksatriyas in India, do you? The Rajput Ksatriyas were fiercely courageous, and would also kill themselves by their own blade rather than surrender a losing battle in order to preserve their honor. Your ignorance is hilariously evident.
@mmalover1991 The belief system they introduced to Japanese soldiers during ww2 was under the name of "Bushido" but more closely resembled Hitler's "Mein Kampf".
@SpicyHam he was not listening to this, he was playing call of duty modern warfare 2, map, No Russian, he also used steroids, and took things from games and put it in his manifesto, as a norwegian myself ill tell you this, no norwegian wishes to even talk nor think about that guy
@ZarakiOTR I don't know who's a bigger coward, Brievik for murdering his own people, or your far left politicians using it to as an excuse to crush all discussion if the immigration issue. Your country's insane, man.
Peace to you in this troubled time. Hope you guys get your stuff together, and embrace your cultural heritage at some point, just as the Japanese did in this - albeit fictional - movie about the importance of what your people are rapidly losing.
@Pyramidhead1337 Yes we are insane, but i know 1 thing, as a norwegian, we dont ever give up, we do what we can , we insane, but we do what we can to make everything more peaceful, both here in norway and other countries as helpers, its like 2 sides of norway here, 1 want the immigration things , the other one dont, and also the third side which was breivik, just crushed both sides , but we dont let that get to us, we know we lost alot of people, R.I.P we remember the dead, and forget him!
@Pyramidhead1337 Ik we are losing something really important, we are losing our friends and family we are insane, but we do have the strength to stand up , and fight back whatever is coming, we dont abandon our comrades, we fight for them, with them, if something else going to happen we will be ready for it, yes we are insane, it is getting us killed by protecting our own country, personally id wish i could kill Breivik, but i wont go as low as him by killing him, i fight for my country !
This movie shows what a civilization truly is. Many people think that the great civilizations were those that were the most powerful. Sometimes that is true for one only has to look at the Roman and English empires as examples. However, the Japanese civilization (pre-19th century) pervaded every part of their lives. I sometimes wonder what we have lost today in our shallow day to day lives as compared to the lives of the Japanese which seemed to be so purposeful, duty-bound, and honourable.
its sad how this part of the movie, is really how life works now. they look diffrent, they speak diffrent, they "PRAY" different. what goes through the minds of idiots when that happens. And its funny, the ones shooting the samurai, were japanese..... i dont know how people do it, and how people think like this, the world now is horrible
Let me tell u something, i stayed more than 3 years without ever crying and everytime time i saw this film, i was on the edge of tears ( i don't know if it mean something in english ;) )
This so far is the best I think. Hans Zimmer's entire soundtrack for The Last Samurai is amazing. He has done excellent work in capturing emotions and putting it into the beautiful songs
