  • Face to face remember too "Bad Girls" of Donna Summer 1979... not the sample, but the musical structure

  • GENIUS

  • daft punk face to face sample Queen - Another One Bites The Dust

  • What program is this?

  • @JustinBieberIsAPenis Mixmeister Pro 6.

  • What program do you use for this?

  • Barry Gibb ftw!

  • You sir, is my hero.

  • Thx so much!!! Love ELO, love Daft Punk (a little less, I must confess;-)), & really appreciate the vid!! =)

  • Listen to the sonics in the chop job and the actual song. You can tell that they definitely sampled "Evil Woman". The most famous song Daft Punk sampled.

  • is it possible to do all the chops? it seems like you only do the first 2 samples in the song itself. it would be awesome to do them all

  • Question : Wat song do u think is the Drum Sample ? i think its Surface - Falling In love.

  • @alexisthemanandrock2 It sounds like drums and bass came from Falling In Love

  • @vx2kfilmer1 didnt i write that ??? lol

  • Phenomal job! But Daft Punk... Daft Punk would have to be one of the greatest samplers.

  • face to face is one of my favorite D.P songs

  • I'm convinced you wear a helmet onstage.

  • DP: Heh, They'll never suspect a thing. Muahahahahaha

  • at the start of this song... i thought that this could also be a sample of digital love from daft punk... that part where you go far into the song "digital love" and later in that piano verse when it says "why don't you play the game" the piano verse was very similar to the start of Evil woman... getting it? :) your awesome!

  • Now of course, we could spot the guitar riff from "Evil Woman" a mile away. But to work out exactly how they did the chopping... now there's the tricky part.

But... what about the other pieces? You've only picked out the obvious sample! Look a little more carefully, and I bet you'll find more!

  • very good pickup, i also do love so ELO and daft punk, but unfortunately every musician in the world believes that someone is out to steal their music, even though DP grab a total of 5-10sec of a song, they could still be stung for it, good case was when joe satriani tried to sue Coldplay, over them singing a guitar rif he played (If I Could Fly - Joe Satriani)

but hey fingers crossed DP don't get into any dramas considering they are doing pretty good so far from there other "samples"

  • thanks for the vid, it really sounds like they did sampled it bu sorry i still dont beilive it. daft punk said it them selfs they didnt sample this. but really u made me want to beilive xD and yes ELO and Daft Punk are great bands, :D

  • @OfficialDjAVE Actually Todd Edwards said in an interview that there is over 50 samples used in Face To Face

  • How do you find all the samples/ Nice videos!

  • Im the guy the vid was made for!!!!

  • Electric Light Orchestra (:

love the band; love that spaceship picture thingy haha.

  • He is one of my followers. lol

  • I love ELO. I had no idea Daft Punk used it for their song. that makes it even better.

  • the drum loop sample is from believe by chemical brothers.

  • @wolfejohnsp no it didnt , Belive came out in 2005 , F2F came out in 2000. check out the song Falling in love by Surface

  • awesome man i love daft punk

  • Face to Face = Been Thru This - Ivana Santilli

    (:

  • @Unknow311 wrong, well half wrong , Ivana got her samples from the same unknown source that DP used for F2F

  • @alexisthemanandrock2

    Yeah that's right :)

  • Say Barry... now say White... Now say Barry White...

  • yyouu hhhaaavvvee to do short circuit

  • in Face To Face there is a drum loop sample

  • watch this vid. this guy found some of the vocals

    /watch?v=U5j2IHEVBCI

  • they also did the piano from the son listen closely to boath face to face & evil woman

  • not only i suggest they (daft punk) sampled more from the original elo song

  • Hehe nice pull, but I cant help feeling that, with your frind popping up on skype, you're turning into the guy from the 'You Suck at Photoshop' tutorials :)

  • um what about the vocal?

  • @cget they got an actual person i think it was todd edwards to sing the lyrics for them

  • Not the guy singing throught the song. The small vocal sample that says "too long"

  • he actually says you are not too long

  • well where is that from?

  • Gee, this clearly shows the extent of Daft Punk's genius; they might be sampling their stuff but at this point you just can't blame them, you have no right to. They made the original song almost completely unrecognizable and yet theirs sounds purely awesome.

That's what creativity is right here, people.

  • @JayDaddie And you have to give them credit, I'm 13 and I sample sometimes, but it's not easy. For Daft Punk to sample something this amazing is pretty crazy. I listen to the elo song without what briansredd did and I still can't here the samples. :)

  • FUCk u morons , daft punk roxs , they are djs too thats all ,

  • Try and find Justices samples

  • whut program are you using here brian?

  • Mixmeister Pro 6

  • Fantastic video! At whosampled they have guides on what samples are in a track, according to them, Aerodynamic samples AC/DC's Hells Bells and Sister Sledge's Il Macquillage Lady.

  • @anthem47 check out also Hot For Teacher :)

  • hey this vid was dedicated to me!

  • good stuff man you got an ear for music

  • This only increases my interest in daft punk.

  • lol some guy skyped you

  • BriansEdd can you do aerodynamic ?? i love it i wanna know if it also sampled

  • Aerodynamic did sample a song but i can't remember who made it or what song. search for Daft Punk Aerodynamic sample on YouTube and it should yield some results.

  • they used sister sledge . but i dont know the name so sorry

  • The Sister Sledge song is named "II Macquillage Lady"

  • Hey Brian, you forgot something. The Black Eyed Peas w/Pussycat Dolls sampled "Evil Woman" for their song, "Beep."

  • It also sounds like they used some voice samples from that song also.

  • Wow, nice job

  • So awesome i love daft punk!

  • Are you out to get Daft Punk? Haha I haven't seen any other videos about this kinda thing about any one else

  • He's not out to get anyone, it's called education. He's simply showing how a producer/DJ gets and uses samples from music to make their own stuff. Daft Punk is popular, so a lot of people want to know how they get their samples.

  • Don't get snippy, it was just a joke :P. And I noticed that he has lots of videos about Daft Punk samples.

  • My bad man... didn't mean to be snippy. I'd like to see him break down Midnight In A Perfect World from DJ Shadow. That whole album is nothing but samples.

  • Shadow is the sample king haha

  • I love these video brian. With this sample what's really great is that Daft Punk didn't have to pay ELO any royalties because it's not 4 bars in length let alone a different key. Very clever on Daft Punk's side.

  • briansredd u r so coooool i love wat u do :)

  • i dont think its a sample. the snip sounds different in the daft punk version

  • .. it sounds exactly the same???

The only thing is that Daft Punk put other samples/sounds on top of it!

  • This is a well made video. I like how you have face to face going in the background while you do the introduction.

  • Hello, hears that you use software to do these remix

hola, perdon por no escribir en ingles. que software ocupas para hacer esos remix. dime plis.

  • el software que utiliza se llama MixMeister

  • 1:34 sounds like prime time of your life by daft punk!

  • Good call... perhaps even inverted.

2 minutes and 41 seconds into Evil Woman (not this video) the Pussicat Dolls' "Beep" completely rips off the breakdown. They make it a little deeper/slow it down, but it is literally copy/pasted.

  • hey brain, im thinking about trying to remake face to face to add to my daft punk remakes but i can see myself getting engrossed and frustrated with finding the other samples

  • I am loving your videos

  • BRIAN! While I do not know what else DP used for "Face to Face", someone else apparently does... check out the track "Been Thru This" by Ivanna Santilli.

She could not have sampled DP. There are too many notes.

We may be a step closer...

  • You should do aerodynamic, thats a nice nut to crack

  • The Sample for aerodynamic is Il Macquillage Lady By Sister Sledge.

  • can you do all of daft punk songs that use samples??

  • i found this so interesting. i am a big fan of daft punk, todd edwards and elo and had no idea thats where it cam from... or is it just co incidence??

  • Amazing job man!! hey can you do Indo Silver Club!?

  • So where is Mr. Footlock from? That voice sounds soo fimiler... Man I bet I'm gonna hate myself when I find out its a Classic Rock band I listen to...

  • If you listen to todd edwards tracks, he does this kind of thing frequently. I guess the samples are so short he probably doesn't get clearance from the original artists

  • Well played sir! Thanks so much - of all the songs on Discovery this is the one that haunts me most sample wise. I know the answer right now is "No"..but still, someday I'd like to know who is the femaleish voice sample..if it was indeed lifted from another source. Keep up the great work!

  • Maybe it's from Evil Woman too, raised the pitch...

  • You should do "Robot Rock".

  • dude your awesome. do you like study music or work in a studio?

  • 2:07. they're links?

  • 1:25 barry obama?

  • 3:54 EARTHQUAKE!!! lol

  • I mean, let's face it, unless you were a music addict, a normal guy of the street can't listen to one more time and go "hey thats an old Eddie Johns song!" Not to say that it was justifiable, but it's understandable that these samples are so minor that they seem unimportant...

  • In response to fantashu's comment from a month ago and questions that arise about why daft punk doesn't credit those artists, my theory is that the samples that were taken from there songs were so short(example being this video) that they probably didn't think it mattered. Whereas the other songs were identifiable like the full loops of Edwin Birdsong, George Duke, and the Imperials along with the distinct voice of Barry Manilow.

  • So where does the female vocal line come from?

  • awesome!!!!!

  • Thanks nice job man!!

  • very nice. ive been wondering how to do that one. thankyou.

  • Your videos are by far the best and most complete Daft Punk source videos I've seen. I love Daft Punk and it's always fun to find their inspirations.

Maybe you should make your own Daft Punk style songs based on disco samples.

  • Maybe one of these days when I get the equipment nessessary, I can throw some original chops together :)

  • @briansredd man! you've got such a good ear, you're def cut out for it, please work on some originals. best of luck!

  • Read the jackets. U know those little booklets people don't read anymore because we rather download music of of LimeWire than buy the actual CDs.

They ALWAYS give credit. so find me a case where they don't

but i guess that would mean you would have to buy it

  • I own more Daft Punk on both CD, DVD, and Vinyl than you can shake a stick at, Buster.

Do you own any Daft Punk CDs, Records, or DVDs? If you did, then you'd know that sometimes Daft Punk credits in the Liner notes (thoes little booklets you are ranting about) and sometimes they don't. Why? We're not sure, but this is what's up.

  • i have the same painting by justin Bua too!

  • big up for mary

  • can you help me find bass tab for face to face plz i'm getting p*ssed off coz i can't find it nowhere!

  • how about figuring it out yourself?

  • Thanks for all your Daft Punk stuff, they were great! Was surprised to see how much Daft Punk ripped off, but seeing you chop the songs shows how good DP are for coming up with all these awesome songs.

  • they don't rip off!!!omg can people stop talking about this? research how samples are made and the laws and rules regarding using other artists' works!!

    Leave daft punk alone

  • Tell you what, perhaps you should do a little research yourself before you start yelling at people about what's what.

Nobody here is MAD at DP, we're just trying to figure out where some of the samples may have came from seeing how they did NOT credit 95% of them. It's out of fun & curiosity I do this, not to discredit anyone.

Once you check your facts, then we'll all accept your apology :)

  • Then I obviously didn't aim this at you. You seem reasonable and is taking some prety neat measures to see how songs match fine. But comments like dickheadmate's, yea thats who I'm after.

I know they didn't rip anyone off. The last idiot that didn't get permission to sample something ended maying millions to Namco. and the next (surprisingly Mr. West) Had to pay Shirley Bassey millions too.

So yea, I'm mad at people who act like they commit crimes, not some1 who wants in dept info

  • just to clear that up. Maybe they don't credit the other 5% because it might not be enough to make a case, like on of the songs in this video.

    Maybe not

  • It's the other way around. They CREDIT 5%, that's about it. I remember them crediting Barry Manilow on Discovery, but don't recal them crediting anyone else on that album. I'll have to take another look.

  • For clarity's sake, Daft Punk credits George Duke, Edwin Birdsong, The Imperials and Barry Manilow on Discovery. No credits for Eddie Johns or Electric Light Orchestra.

Love your Oregins videos, keep it up. :)

  • Never get bored of these videos!

  • me neither i dont know why

  • you did better then Daft Punk :)

  • play face to face through an old xbox it sort of changes the volume so everything is equal and it sticks out just that little bit more.

  • can you copy/paste high fidelity for me please,?

  • ive been knew where the sample was

  • Nice I learned a lot today!! Thanks

  • Holy shit. I would have never heard it.

  • DP must have had a hell of a time coming up with this one.

  • Briliant, briliant =D

  • insane number of effects over it but so cool!!!

  • Nice Job finding that sample :D

  • nice yo ass just got SKYPED!!!!!!! lol good vid tho

  • gotta go 2morrow.

  • who gave the three thumbs up?

  • any of you briansredd fans and the man himself heard face to face/short curcuit, too long/steam machine and h,b,f,s/around the world off alive 2k7 all three are brill?

  • play the the chop and the acctual face to face song together and reply what u find

  • plz can u try indo silver club?

  • rumoured sample for indo silver club is karen youngs hot shot

  • same with one more time listen to the bass line bass boost or not.

  • i was listening to face to face the other day and i heard somthin that nearly gave me a heart attack, to notice it listen to the chop job sample brian used listen for two bell rings in the second part then listen to face to face you should heard the two dings if you can't hear listen to em at the same time or just put bass boost on face to face.

  • Cool vid.

Face to Face is a homage to Todd Edwards (yes, he co-produced) as his production style was a big influence on them.

I'd like to see briansredd start taking apart some Todd Edwards tracks!!!!

  • do you put that dj painting in the back of all your videos on purpose or is it just always there lol?

  • I love this track, mainly because Todd Edwards was co-producer and vocals.

He's also recently remixed it, don't know where anyone can find a copy of it, especially when Todd doesn't release too many of his remixes.

  • Thank you so much for explaining these samples for us. I love Daft Punk and it is great hearing how they take classic oldies and make the songs we know and love. It actually makes me appreciate them more for seeing the potential of these bits and pieces of songs most people don't even hear.

  • briansredd can you try rbot rock and kanye wests sample of H,B,F,S.

  • I've done HBFS already. Didn't see a point in doing the Kanye version. Very boring use of a sample IMO. Robot Rock is also a very easy one.

Check my main channel page. I have several Daft Punk chop jobs

  • is elo credited in the discovery album?

  • I don't think so

  • That is incredible! Why do you prefer Mixmeister over, say, Ableton?

  • I'm not sure that I prefer it. It's just what I have. Ableton is something I'm very intirested in getting and learning. Although, I didn't get very far with Lite live

  • mixmiester is expensive :( i prefer the demo too bad it doesnt export mp3

  • Pro equipment isn't cheap. Otherwise, it would be consumer gear.

  • Alright thanks man.

I thought it was Acid Music studio XD

    Really nice work though man.

    Thats incredible! :D

  • All of these videos make me appreciate Daft Punk even more.

  • What program is this?

  • Mixmeister Pro 6

  • what did omega say back?

  • Ooh, I feel so enlightened.

I love Face To Face, it's right up there on my list of the best Daft Punk tracks.

    Thank you!

  • THANKS DUDE! i didnt know about that... my mind had always wondered how they did that

  • I am still amazed how DP just came out with all the songs they did. Not always a loop but little details here and there.

    I love it.

  • OMG u r my Hero

  • hey briansredd, thanks for the amazing video...i was just wondering what editing program your using

  • Mixmeister Pro 6

  • They truly are wizards.

  • omg thats sweet man relly good job, looking fordward to see more of this

  • i was wondering what program do you use to sample???? if you dont mind telling me thanks

  • Mixmeister pro 6

  • have daft punk actually made any songs without sampling? briansredd has shown us that daft punk have not credited original artists on some songs

  • Well, my intention wasn't to call anyone out. The objective in these videos is to get people thinking outside of the box a bit & to have a bit of fun. The politics of such things is of little intirest to me.

  • Amazing work. Thanks once again.
