  • we want tears for fears to reform please.giffo

  • fuck man ther tunes bass guitar always catchy i like how they start off mad world, shout, so hypnotic we lourrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrve the 80s n all groups from that decade ,rewind the 80s COPENHAGEN CLIMATE changes

  • the best!!!

  • when you transpose the music to guitar its very hard to do.....these guys were very good song writers...there is a depth in the arrangements that goes along with the band ULTRAVOX...check them out

  • I loooooooooooovvvvvveeee the 80's!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Music was indeed the best in the 80's!

  • love this vid , the ninja dance is fantastic, this music will have forever a special flavor that will not be reproduced ever again , wish i could go back in time

  • 80s = mostly great music

  • 80= almost all great music. Nothing beats the 80's for music.

  • I 100% agree.

  • all i do is eat, sleep, drink and think tears for fears! they are my world.. amasing pepole

  • This ninja dance is funny, poor Roland, I bet he regret this today, but apart from that, the song is great, a classic from TFF. I love it

  • These guys were underrated as hell! I love their sound. Really showed off the 80's sound in the best way possible.

  • Cool song, I never heard this one before.

It kinda sounds like Duran Duran too lol

  • Best song in the album!

  • nice video this is great

  • fantastic :-)

  • Back then it was just another song. Now, that zylophone riff is a signature 80's sound.

  • This brings back some good old memories.... I'd love to see them live!

  • utterly awesome band, awsome music, awesome era god i feel proud to have lived the 80 s as a teenager listening to the music of bands like tears for fears, thank u to my parents without you i would have never known.

  • 2:51 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah... ninja miming was way big back in the 80's... I used to do it all the time... just nobody ever joined me...

  • Good song!

  • Gdzie Oni są ? Only change ?

  • I'd take it over any of the overly polished, headache enducing music videos they make these days...

  • they have to overpolish it, otherwize no one would watch because today's music SUCKS!

  • What's so bad about today's music? Foo Fighters is today's music and if you say they're bad... i don't know then...

  • hmm I went and found a song by them, they are good. I didn't think they made rock and roll music anymore. everything I hear from today is stupid hip hop, so-called rap, and modern alternative which sucks, and everything on VH1 and MTV sucks too.

  • Correctly said mainstream music in general was much better in the 80's.

Foo Fighters is rather alternative compared to Lady Gaga or Britney Spears, but agreed, Foo Fighters is an excellent band.

But on modern radio or TV channels you really can't hear any good music any more.

Tears for Fears rules still today!

  • Probably the greatest mime performance ever...

  • Great song and video! Does anyone know where this was filmed? I love the architecture; particularly that of the glass elevator. I've looked online, and could not find out. Thank you!

  • ; )

  • I really like this band, this is the song that turned me into them. Is it me or does Curt Smith look like the actor who played Peter on the Brady Bunch? (not to disrespect him)

  • Wow, I never thought of that, but he sure does....I always thought he was a cutie, but didn't think Peter Brady was. Ha.

  • this was the song for me too. great and underrated band.

  • awesome i love this and any other song by tff they are legends

  • nice

  • Where´s the time machine? Seems like the 80´s nothing new compares with the sound of the 80´s. The music came from Britain or Germany or Italy. Good sound , synthesizers, and the best girls.

  • I miss the 80s the 2009 songs are all about sex and violence i wish 80s can come back one more time :(

  • Utterly agree

  • very new wave, kinda different from what they did later...

  • This is PERFECT

  • makes you proud to be british this does we are the finest creaters of music on this planet

  • I'm not british but i have to admit, the best music comes from Great Britain very often

  • i agree with you!

  • Yes and in Britain, they're just dominated by teenpop trash - X-Factor and whoever wins on the Britains Got Talent Show.. oh and the Indie bands aren't in the same vein as those from the 80s either.

  • no, no one is.

  • Too late fiorer forgiveness(when you thought it would be easier to persecute me than forgive or understand)-rather than real solutions, just an un american condemnation.! driven by insecurity and fear.

  • the 80's are still "kind of" here... you just have to know where to look... search ima robot... deadsy's first album was really really influenced by an 80's sound with the synths etc... im sure ill get crucified for that opinion but who cares... although they are not "completely" an 80's band i felt the b-52's newest album was actually a very good return and actually quite refreshing...hahah.. and i listen to death metal like cannibal corpse...i love it all.. even country...Hank 3 is awesome too

  • How come everyone misses the 80's?? I thought it was just me...OK so how do we get 'em back??

  • we can always ask the doc from back to the future to let us borrow his time machine, and go back to the 80's and bring them back to the future, and put that flux capacitor to a real test, what do you say?

ps, i miss the eighties as you can tell, thus it marked the end of an era, gone were the bands and singers with real talent that sang simple songs with meanings that related to most people!!(although i do not thank the eighties for giving us rick "ghastly" astley!!

  • ha ha! to be honest even ricks respected now!!

  • Wait 71 years or so.

  • ha ha! reincarnation??

  • I so agree with you i miss the 80s 2009 really screwed up with all the rap and sex songs your right so when do we get back at them

  • loads of us think the same comedy577...!

  • GREAAAAAAT ALBUM!!!! Every song is fantastic. Can't say that about a lot of albums...mostly today.

  • DAMN I miss the '80's!!

  • If you havent realized every Tears for Fears Album is AWESOME!

  • Would very much enjoy Roland doing them moves today!

    lisar915

    You are so RIGHT

  • "The Hurting" was a masterpiece of an album.

  • I always wanted this record. It's the cover where they're feeding the ducks. It's the one before "Songs from the Big Chair" have that! TFF is real talent, which is why they've survived so long. * * * * * stars

Thank you, & have a great day everyone!

  • Hey.... Everybodys got a daytime job.... but what a string of hits... one of my fav 80's rock bands...

  • one of my favorite 80s hits, i loved listening to this on a rainy day when i was a little pup growing up in l.a!!!!!!!!!!

  • Eu adoro esse foco no rosto do Curt no final, que lindo... E a voz dele é inexplicável!!!! Linda demais...

  • Such good shit :-)

  • 80's are forever in the FUTURE

  • I loved the Xylophone in this song it was sampled in a dance song i heard at a club a while back then again on the radio by some DJ sounded great! TFF rocked the 80's

  • Roland is the master of dance.

  • starnge fact here for you !the hands in the box waving about at 2.10 are the hands of roland rat voice david claridge ??? it says it on wikipedia. man i know some strange shit these days !

  • Thanks for ruining one of my favourite 80s videos! Was David Claridge just the voice of RR or both the voice and the hands? Are these his hands? Going to watch Shout, hope he ain't in that.

  • Hate to put the final nail in the coffin here, but those are his hands. I think. All i know is, whoever's hands those are, he went on to create the Roland Rat character and name him after Roland Orzabal. So now, when you look at Roland in any other Tears For Fears video...oh, wait. That's not good. Forget I said anything!

  • aparently his hands and yes he was the roland rat voice too. bizare eh?

  • oh yeah, those days.... loved the dance too on 2:32. my first bought album too.

  • I remember when this came out...this one and mad world are my favorites...

  • One of my first and my best LP early in 80' When i go back in my memories in this years i cry :(

  • me gustaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnn muchisimo este grupo

  • ahh, takes me back. tears for fear we're so relevant to the music scene back then...one of my favorites along wit The Cure:)

  • Fuck yah, I'm on Facination Street with you =] Tears for Fears has a bit more energy i think.

  • me encanta este grupo

  • Fears for change, can overcome

  • great...

  • When I get a job again I'm going to do the dance they do at 2:32

  • X -D yeah me too..lmao

  • Love this tune. I've been listening to it in my car lately.

  • where is Becky Devalois or Sara Rodgers from 1985 Highlands camp these days from when i used to rock this from the Kitchen.

  • I grew up with "Tears Roll Down" album... this is pure magic!

  • Im Old-School and i love this song by them, but i think i heard it sampled in a couple of dance songs when i was at a club and it sounded pretty dam good If anyone knows about this, please let me know Thanks!

  • SO dark and misterious....

  • Don't you wish you could go back in time and watch this on MTV? Back when MTV was good and played music videos like this.

  • yeah...or you can watch vh1 classics...its what i do!

  • mysterious

  • Johnny Slash from "Square Pegs" had a rat tail.

  • I use to write all of my English papers to Tears for Fears and bonghits. Straight A's...must have been the way to go.

  • I want to change my shoe

  • i think the video was cool for just having 3 or 4 extras in costumes, and a building, lol.

  • rat-tails are futuristic yo!

  • Lol, I saw your comment Celeste and I was like: what?

    haha ;)

  • Sorry I thought you were talking about Tears For Fears. Tears For Fears will always last forever even when the fashions of the year don't.

  • It's cool. Don't worry, though- I'd never say that about them.

  • "Rat tails" were never really that popular, but I think some people can pull them off. Like Curt and Anakin Skywalker, LOL.

I remember this kid I went to daycare with had a rat's tail. That's was late 90's, early 2000's. I thought it looked okay, but he eventually cut it off. *shrug*

  • whats up with the braids... i like them but that's not a cool look

  • Not now it isn't but it was back in 1982.

  • LOL yeah ....like Devo Glasses...lol and Acid Washed Jeans ...what were we thinking? lol

  • I don't know? But Curt looks back on it now and he thinks that what they wore back then was hideous. LOL!

  • oh i see!

  • I just got back from their concert a few minutes ago amazing. Most of the audience was on their feet the majority of the concert, they kicked butt. Rocking music and a great sense made for one of the best concerts Ive been to in a long time.

  • where were they playing at?

  • The Celebrity Theater in Arizona. It was the last concert on their tour.

  • teddye92 ,

dude i was there too. and you're right. They rock and it was a huge blast. these men are just the best performers ever. they looked and sounded great. we had sooooooo much fun. i wish it would have lasted longer. it was neat waching them perform on a rotating stage.. you could feel their energy. they had a great sense of humor and loved chatting to the crowd. thye kept commenting on the rotating stage but they love it too. i had the best time and looking forward in seeing agian.

  • Same here. I really look forward to seeing them again sometime. Yeah their reaction to the moving stage were pretty funny. Yeah u know how that one guy opened for them and his last couple songs his voice kept having this like Mickey mouse thing going on? ha the band did that to his mic. They left his head set alone though so he didn't realize till the very end that they had done that to him. Just a little inside info.

  • I checked out your channel. Those are really nice colors. How are you? So I see that you live here in Arizona. I'm an implant. Got stationed here in 2003 and have not left yet. My old unit is set to go overseas again. I'm staying in the rear. How's the heat there? we are hot here in Tucson. You guys must b burning. Well, I hope not LOL LOL.. Hope things are well with you. Have a great TFF and peachy night or just a good night. You choose. Chat at you soon.

    Traci

  • I'm well. Thank u. How are you? Well Phx is scorching hot as ever. Yeah it's starting to get to the point where walking barefoot outside even to get the mail is a no no. lol. U have a magnificent nite urself. TTYL. Hoping all is well.

    T'dessa

  • Going to see TFF tonight. Can't wait!!!

  • un salto nel passato che spettacolo

  • he doesn't look like Seinfeld at all! this is getting old....go away, please.

    but roland totally does

AND I WILL NOT GO AWAY

    TFF is the best

  • hahhaa, yes HE does! thought you were talking about curt...TFF rule!

  • curt was so cute back then too!

  • i know!! their music is awesome! curt is so cute!!!

  • i find curt to be like the cutest thing

    love his voice aswell

  • this is spam? mah...

  • pop perfection !

  • gimp

  • Ahem! I said that I wasn't making fun of Roland and I wasn't.

  • Ahem! I wasn't making fun of him I like his dancing.

  • il ritmo dev'essere perfetto occorre agg i bassi x far elevare una voce q la melodia stona occ la curva precisa

  • forever yang with your him is with cange irresistible

  • theyr daces are o EPIC!

  • One of the best videoes and songs of the eighties....i love this masterpiece of a song !!!!!!!

  • Gotta love Roland's dancing! :)

  • That mad little angel, with his masked companions, looks like he's just made a daring escape from a Kate Bush video - weird and wonderful and unutterably adorable. It's just the shot of strangeness this otherwise pedestrian clip needs to make it something special. What a hoot! :)

  • I like it t t!!!!

  • Wormwood, Videos, don't have to have a meaning to them I agree, but some songs like this one, demand a meaningful video, because the song is meaningful...anyhow it is my preference it is not a rule..I just have ideas on video creation that would enhance the meaning of some songs like this one is all.

  • big best EPIC MONSTER DANCE AT 2:38

    EPIC, BEST DANCE EVER HAHAHHAHHA

  • tony, Dont get me wrong it is artistic but, if you actually made the video to fit the lyrics, it would have meant alot more..Videos should have meaning to them, perhaps start in a white room on a white sofa, in a white suit, and enter his friend with a black Dress and pissed off look on her face, you cant change...make the mental picture and then you can see the possibilities. what has happened to the friend I knew, has she gone away...enter color, depicting the past..etc. Now you have a video

  • Why SHOULD music videos have meaning to them? They're just a form of entertainment, not a philosophical manifesto (though some artists may think that to be the case). That said, Bjork makes the best videos from an artistic standpoint imo.

  • I think that in the eighties videos were made as their own separate artistic entity, Artist would give their music over to the video's director to create an artistic vision that would stand on 'its' own,To do otherwise would simply be a soap opera set to music.

  • what about a video set to the music?

  • You see a lot of that now!

    and it's

    BBBBBBBOOOOOORIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!

  • Love that the director was trying to be so arty. The girl ballerina standing by the elevator is trying to copy the Degas scupture, the Little Ballerina.

  • love this song!!

  • Roland's got the beat that's for sure. ;)

  • Lol. Everytime I hear this song....

"What has happened to, the friend I once knew? Has he gone away?"

    [Cue most epic dance]

Love it. Best part is it goes with the beat.:)

Always think of it when I hear that part :D

    <3

  • That and Blue Peter are the classic dance moves of the 1980s

  • that dance is pretty epic. haha

  • Golden age of New Wave? I think it's delicious :o)#

  • wow im rocker but this band is a real legend! /,,/

    tear roll down!!! /,,/

  • just enjoy the music..

  • Of course there weren't any Tears band members that screwed up and said that they were "more popular than Jesus."

  • Lennon was probably right when he said that...

  • Yea, Redbuick you nailed it.

  • One of my favorite lesser known songs from tears for fears. Enjoy it cause those rat bastards WMG may own it somehow and try to pull it down. Sad when stuff they forgot about or neve rowned they buy up and keep us from enjoying, while at the same time kill free publicity and keep the youngsters from knowing this great music .

  • You couldn't find a better english band out there than Tears for Fears.

Every other english band has walked the walk but they couldn't talk the talk.

  • Have you heard of the 60's man? The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who all trump Tears for Fears

  • Yes but the Beatles weren't around in the 80s because it was after John Lennon died but each of them had some successful solo careers.

  • I AGREE

  • Well, we a few huge exceptions - Radiohead, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Zepplin, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, The Clash, Stones, Queen, The Who, Sex Pistols, Maiden, Priest, Sabbath. Are you serious???

  • Sabbath before Ozzy departed or after? Because if you think that Sabbath was better off without Ozzy you're crazy.

  • Sabbath with Ozzy is better when looking at total body of work, but Heaven and Hell, Sign of the Southern Cross and Falling Off The Edge of The World are outstanding. Dio has a distinct voice. I think its splitting hairs. Whereas Van Halen sucked with Sammy.

  • Yes and Van Halen isn't an english band.

  • no shit - did you have to look that up on wikipedia? please keep up, I moved on with my analogies. I guess I should h
