Recognizing genetic differences is not racism. Hating because of race is racism. Human DNA and Chimpanzee DNA are 99% similar. But that does not mean I am crazy to think that there is a vast differences between the two. The same goes for human races. If nature can so vastly effect physical attributes (e.g., skin color, height) then different environments can effect every physical quality of a human (e.g., IQ, athleticism, talent). Just look at the Samoans and African Americans in the NFL.

The theories behind the idea of the classical "races" were that different "races" were different species, with separate origins. However current genetic research has shown that modern humans originated in Africa and a smaller subset migrated out of Africa recently.
Due to a small founding population, with a subset of genetic variation & a recent expansion out of Africa, humans are homogeneous.

The fact that differences among the groups is greater than the difference between the groups has absolutely no relevance from the "race is a social construct" perspective, yet it is always one of their primary "arguments." That alone speaks volumes.
Also telling is when they point out the tininess of the differences in DNA. There are also only tiny differences between human and chimp DNA. So obviously species is also a "social construct."

A collection of unique obvious phenotypical traits which characterize geographical groups, however tiny these genetic traits may be, if they're obviously noticeable, and there's unique consistency of occurrence that typifies a population, that's sufficient grounds for making the term 'races' relevant.

Rejection of "race" mythology does not consist of denying real differences among human beings. It consists of pointing out the fact that our real differences are not caused by the mechanism posited by "race" mythology.
In other words, one's phenotype or cultural participation is not caused by one's social assignment as "being white" or "black" etc. Rather, one's social assignment is caused by the contingency of fitting some or most of the (changing) qualifiers of fitting into a "race."

Our phenotype is manifest, and then non-scientific observers lump us into "races" based upon appearance and cultural participation. In a different context one has the same, different, or NO "racial" assignment (with no change in their genes).

Mitochondrial DNA was compared against thousands of people and categorized in a phylogenetic tree. 75,000 years ago one group left Africa. From this one group arose all other races, and their DNA is very similar. A small percentage of blacks from this group retained their dark color. Being that Africa is the motherland, DNA from Africans is very diverse. 75,000 years of evolution and you think only skin color changed?

The prominence of these 'tiny' differences is very evident, hence making racial classification. Certain "scientific" fields have enthusiastically jumped on board with this strange concept that "race isn't real," and gleefully point out certain findings from the human genome study which supposedly support that contention.
If I were them, I would keep my mouth shut, because the data is incomplete and inconclusive, although some of it favors the race hypothesis. Instead they have jumped on a political bandwagon.

I agree with the Out-of-Africa theory but after they left Africa they settled in different areas, and were secluded during the Ice Age. Natural selection changed these populations to survive in their environment. The changes can be -- and were -- dramatic. Think about the how man changed the wolf through the same process! You cannot deny there is a difference between a Great Dane and Chihuahua. So, why is it hard to accept different human races? There are clear differences.

@Arminius65 People with similar morphology don't nessecarily cluster by lineage DNA, e.g. numerous groups in Oceania may phenotypically look like some populations in Africa, however they are closer genetically to mainland Asians.
Likewise people with various phenotypes can be connected by lineage DNA, e.g. Some populations in the "Near East" and Southeastern Europe carry the PN2 clade, a Y-Chromosome lineage which originated in Africa.

They also have greater bone density and fewer incidence of osteoporosis. Some genetic diseases are also specific to race, such as sickle cell. I can tell you're educated. You know this is true. There is also the unspoken evidence. Take a look at the race ratio in National Academy of Science compared to the NBA.

Recognizing genetic differences is not racism. Hating because of race is racism. Human DNA and Chimpanzee DNA are 99% similar. But that does not mean I am crazy to think that there is a vast differences between the two. The same goes for human races. If nature can so vastly effect physical attributes (e.g., skin color, height) then different environments can effect every physical quality of a human (e.g., IQ, athleticism, talent). Just look at the Samoans and African Americans in the NFL.

The theories behind the idea of the classical "races" were that different "races" were different species, with separate origins. However current genetic research has shown that modern humans originated in Africa and a smaller subset migrated out of Africa recently.
Due to a small founding population, with a subset of genetic variation & a recent expansion out of Africa, humans are homogeneous.
