While I have no experiance whatsoever in MT, I have almost 14 years of steady time in Wing Chun. I have used the elbow in a number of occasions; as a means of blocking an incoming strike, leavering a shoulder into a locked position and the good ole` fasioned elbow as a striking weapon. It is the hardest striking surface you have above the waste and if used properly, you can end a confrontation in a single hit. It is a very dangerous weapon when used by someone who knows how!

Those guys may not look very strong, but there is a LOT of concentrated force behind those blows. Taking knees to your ribs is no fun... I can't even imagine taking an unguarded elbow strike to the face.

No matter how big you are... it's going to hurt a lot.

in combat sports, the adrenaline masks a lot of pain. he said he got an elbow to the top of his head, and the adrenaline did nothing to keep him from feeling that, he says it sucked big time...he also said that he'd rather take a 1000 pucnhes over 1 elbow. makes sense, elbows are harder than gloves.

My first time fighting a MT practitioner, he managed to get in two full knee blows in the same area. I'm the type that just keeps going (I don't mind pain too much) but after the match I had a cracked rib.

It sucked.

I couldn't even do push-ups without pain.

Don't fight so much nowadays but reminds me of last time I did. Was a street fight a couple of years ago. Confronted a big Russian/East European lump (at least a head taller than I weight 120 kg + you know the type..) who was beating his girlfriend up in the middle of the street. Nice elbow strike to the nose and the nose went and the cunt screamed like a pig. Girl ran. I'm 1.79 m 75 kg myself.
