  • Hi Betty, can you use fresh whole beans or maybe frozen. Please advise, and keep your amazing tips coming. God Bless

  • @snowflake33056 Yes, you may use fresh or frozen green beans. You will need to cook them to your taste, before wrapping them in bacon bundles.

  • This looks delicious, quick and easy. Thanks for sharing.

  • @Alyce58 You're welcome! Thanks for your nice comment!

  • Awesome recipe! My precious grandma always kept a container of bacon drippings in her fridge to put into green beans, pinto beans or breakfast gravy if she didn't cook any meat for her eggs and biscuits. To her green beans she added salt, pepper and a tiny bit of sugar. They were yummy! I taught my girl's to make them the same way. This recipe is fancy yet simple, I am going to let my 9 year old granddaughter make these with me for the holidays! Thanks a bunch Betty!!!

  • @there4me247 You are so welcome! Thanks for your lovely comment!

  • @there4me247 hi, I was wondering how long you can keep the bacon drippings in the refrigerator before it is no longer any good? It sounds like a great idea, we like bacon too but I usually buy bacon bits instead of a whole package of bacon. thanks.

  • @Alyce58 Sorry it took so long to reply. I would love to say it will keep forever because I keep adding to mine and using it up. I'd say it keeps for at least 3 months as long as it stays refrigerated. I've seen some people keep their bacon drippings out on their cabinet but that's not safe. If you keep it in the fridge and use it weekly, it should be fine. Just keep it covered.

  • @there4me247 no problem, thank you.

  • Oh boy these look really good and really easy. I'm gonna try this. Think I will stop at the store on my way home from work and buy the two items. I'm real glad I seen this video. Thanks ! Will be great to serve on Superbowl Sunday.

  • kids in africa starve to death while we waste food by throwin down the sink ...haha just kidding, i do that too! great recipe Betty!

  • @chunkyasses awe you didn't like that? it's okay i'll send you some cans of beans if you want, lol. they're really cheap

  • I always wrap dates (with or without pip) with bacon, very tasty ;)

  • 15 or 50 minutes?

  • @DestructionsLight 50 minutes. The recipe is always with the video. Just click the down arrow or "more info."

    --Betty :)

  • my brothers girlfriend makes these and they are very good

  • I never thought that green beans would go with bacon. Honestly how does this recipe taste to everyone because I would like to try it but am afrais my guests might have less of a preference for it.

  • @kittykatBflat A lot of people use bacon to season green beans when they cook them--they are a natural combination. Some people have commented on these already--you might check their comments.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thank you for this video! I made the Bacon wrapped String beans for my family and they LOVED them.

  • @DestructionsLight Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

  • My kids love these bacon wrapped green beans...great way to get them to eat their veggies. I used fresh beans and 10 minutes before taking them out of the oven I brushed them with a melted butter and brown sugar mixture and then sprinkled some garlic salt on top. Kids ate them all up, thanks for the recipe!

  • Nice recipe, as always, Betty!

Do you think I could try fresh asparagus in place of the beans? Would I have to blanch them first? Just a thought...: )

  • Hi!

I think asparagus would be *great* in place of the green beans! I do think you should boil them a bit first, so they will be nice and tender.

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks, doing some research for my Cheese stuffed Bacon wrapped spam. Was looking for cooking temp and time... I did stuff the spam with more than cheese...

  • I'm looking forward to your cheese stuffed bacon wrapped spam!

    --Betty :)

  • Had a bunch of computer editing crashes but I trimmed over an hour of video down to 9 minutes and got it up. I will probably do this again next month and work on the lessons I learned creating this one...

    Hope you enjoy!

  • I made these today, and loved them! I served them with a side salad and home-made bread. It's not a special occasion but I had the bacon and green beans to hand. When I have guests over I will be sure to make these again. Thanks Betty!

  • Thanks for the great feedback! They would be great with salad and homemade bread! I'm glad you like the recipe!

    god bless you becky !

  • Sorry no canned veggies for me. I would steam some fresh green beans instead...sounds like a good recipe otherwise. TY

  • You can steam green beans, or asparagus tips, or mushrooms, etc. or use fresh pineapple pieces for a variety of tastes! I think you will enjoy the recipe! I used green beans because green beans and bacon naturally complement each other ; I chose the canned variety, because I thought more people would be likely to actually try the recipe with those--but, I agree that fresh green beans are a better choice! Thanks for your view!

  • Hi Betty,

    this is perfect finger food!

another great appetizer for one of my movie nights with 'da boys'

also perfect as a side dish or an entré, like you mentioned.

So good and so easy to make! Two thumbs up!

    Joe from Germany

  • Thanks, Joe! Green beans and bacon really go well together, and these bites are delicious! You may want to experiment with wrapping mushrooms, pineapple chunks, etc. in bacon for a different flavor! Thanks for your lovely comment! I always enjoy hearing from you!

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Daniel!

This is perfect for a Christmas party! I think everyone will enjoy it! Thanks for your comment!

  • I'm deaf. Please caption your shows. We love to cook, too.

  • On each of my videos, just go to the right sidebar and click "more info" The entire recipe will be there on each video! Thanks for writing!

    --Betty :)

  • Yes, you can do this with lot of vegetables--mushrooms, brussel sprouts, broccoli...even something like pineapple...all delicious! Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • since you don't like the fat than you might want to give turkey bacon a try. I feel it taste the same though its lower in fat and calories.

  • That's a great idea! I'm always blotting fat! I could use ground turkey, instead of ground beef, too (or mix the two!). Thanks for the idea--I'm just stuck in a rut!

    --Betty :)

  • That looks absolutely delicious, Betty! You are soo inspiring and I cant hardly watch your videos without getting hungry, lol...dieter's stay away!! hahaha..Thanks for the great recipes. ---Angie

I will be making these soon and also for over the Christmas.

    Thankyou

    Hugs to you both xx

  • Linda,

You can try other vegetables wrapped in bacon--mushrooms, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, ...and more! Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks for your lovely comment! I am glad that you are able to use some of my recipes! I am also glad that you have chosen to cook for your boyfriend and family--a lot of people have a tendency to just pick up food, and it's usually not as good, and also too fatty! Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • i definitely agree! i think what you are doing is such a generous thing, you are truly a wonderful person. thank you soo much!

  • looks great!

  • If you could do a plate using fish, alaskan polack or pronounced like that, its gr8 and tasty!

  • Yes, fish would be good! Thanks for the idea! Thanks for viewing and commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • Yum! My family (Sydney, Aust.) love it when I try out your ideas. I do something similar to this with lightly-steamed asparagus, although your bacon looks much nicer. I think options for bacon in the US are somewhat better than those we get in our loca deli.

    Cheers!

  • The asparagus sounds great! I'm glad you are able to use some of my recipes! Thanks for viewing and commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty's Bacon

  • Thanks for viewing and commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • mmm.. these look amazing, they will be great for Christmas. Betty you are always cooking and making so many things, what do you do with it all?? :)

  • I store things in the refrigerator or freezer, and then when I don't want to cook dinner, I just put some leftovers together. It works out about right! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • This is such a great idea, and very affordable! I was imagining that these might be good served with Chinese Plum Sauce or Hot Mustard to dip them into?? I'm gonna try these for my sons at Thanksgiving..... great new idea!

  • Yes, a dipping sauce would be wonderful! I hope you enjoy this idea, Patsy! Thanks for your wonderful comment and tip!

    --Betty :)

  • I do that with brussel sprouts, bacon makes everything taste better.

  • Brussel Sprouts sound like a really good choice! For anyone who doesn't like green beans, try brussel sprouts, mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower, whatever you like that you can wrap and bake! Thanks for your idea!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, have always best ideas about cooking, beauty and Fashion...perfect ! thank you

  • Thank you so much for your sweet comment! Have a great evening!

    --betty :)

  • These look really tasty. I think I'll try them with Walmart's whole green beans. Can't get my mom to eat french-style LOL.

  • Antyhing you can wrap with bacon will work! Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks Betty for sharing. A great party food.

    --Betty :)

  • This looks great. I love to see more party food if possible.

    --Betty :)

  • Wow. These look sooooo good. No one else in my family likes green beans except me, but I am still going to try this. Thanks Betty

  • If your family doesn't like green beans, use the bacon to wrap something else--mushrooms, anything you like...

    Thanks for your sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

  • I've had these with fresh green beans...but this is a good idea, because fresh green beans aren't always in season.

Thanks for the hors doeuvre recipe....I've been searching for some good ones to make for upcoming family gatherings. :-)

  • I thought this was something a lot of people could use as the holdiday season is pretty much here! Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • My mom's been making them w/ fresh whole, wrapped in bacon, for a year or so now, LOVE them! We never have any left over.

  • Betty, I love this idea! My grandma would cook a few pieces of bacon, leave some of the grease in the bottom and put in her washed green beans (still wet/damp from washing) and sort of steam/saute the green beans until done. Then she would top with the crumbled bacon....my mom now keeps this tradition alive, as do I occasionally. Delicious for dinner! This is a great way to do that idea for party food!

  • Green beans and bacon are a naturally good flavor combination! Thanks for your sweet comment! I hope you can use this recipe!

    --Betty :)

  • This is how my mother-in-law makes them (or from her home-grown canned ones). I never liked green beans until I tried hers! It's hard to find fresh ones around here, so I use the cut (not french) frozen ones, thaw completely, drain and then saute in the bacon grease for a while and then cook with a bit of water for a good 20-30 minutes until desired tenderness. YUM-O! I make tons and eat on them for days!

  • yummy ! You should be on the food network and you should write a cook book.I would buy one and i'm sure other people would too.

  • I would like to turn my recipes into a cookbook--I may try to do that after I finish the holidays! Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • That looks sooooooooooooooo good I gotta cook this up YUMM!!!

  • It's really a simple dish! And it really is good!!!

    --Betty :)

  • That looks really good. :-)

  • Thanks, Jimmy! I always appreciate your comments!

    ---Betty :)

  • I may try these for the holidays. Thanks for the idea!! But I'm going to use center cut bacon...less fat and sodium.

  • Yes, you can use center cut bacon. I just used the bacon I had on hand...but it's not the brand I normally use! Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Ooh this looks good! I may make these for Thanksgiving as an appetizer. Did you say you baked them for 50 minutes or 15 minutes? Thanks!

  • These make a great appetizer for guests at Thanksgiving! Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)
