Fasch really brings galant style and roccoco in his works. It is really interesting to listen to a Bach's contemporary that sound almost classical. Amazing combination of instruments for a concerto. Wonderful cadenza!
This is actually Fasch's son, Carl Friedrich Christian - so he's a generation younger than Bach, hence the Berlin galant style. I suppose the closest comparison would be JCF Bach? He's still more conservative than say, JC Bach.
That's not to say Johann Friedrich Fasch wasn't forward looking. Bach greatly admired him and modelled his orchestral suites on Fasch's. Fasch was also the main publisher of 'Symphonies' in Dresden in the 1740s, introducing some of the Mannheim influences - which were the forefront of musical development.
I love this sooooo much.
