Great video, LovingRaw, By any chance have you read The Gospel Of Peace? Not many vegans seem to understand the relationship between eating a raw food diet and feeling the connection with nature and peace. I think if you read the teachings of the Essenes it might interest you greatly.
It is said that This is eating from the table of god.
Very good advice! My favorite line is "Nobody is responsible for us, but us!" People just want instant results, & when it doesn't happen, or it does but quickly reverses, they are so quick to blame everything else! In the world of good health, there is no excuse for hard work & perseverence(sorry if i spelled that wrong!).
Thank you for being you and sharing your wealth of knowledge and your story with the world. You truly are on the path and well it is very inspirational to many, thank you. I myself have started to transition to a raw lifestyle and well have weighed 356lbs at my highest and well now in the 340lbs and going down in size, just need to stay motivated, inspired and true to my journey. Thank you, your journey shows me & many that it can be done! Keep being love in action :)
Let's get this straight -- If I ask someone "what is your diet?" That would just be another way of asking, "what do you eat?" A more proper title for this video would be, "Why Raw Food Is Not a Weight-Loss Diet"
The primary definition of the word "diet" is: "the kinds of foods that a person or animal habitually eats." So in your case, your diet is raw food.
@LovingRaw Raw food can be treated as a weight-loss diet and it would work, but like any other short-term diet if you go back to unhealthy habits the weight will come back. It can also be treated as a long-term lifestyle. It would depend on the individual and what their goals are. The goals might not be health-oriented and may be focused solely on losing weight...and I think many people don't really want to change because they are physically and emotionally addicted to unhealthy foods.
Great results but I could never give up meat.. chicken, fish and some red meat is good for protein.. I would HIGHLY advise against cutting out meat.. I do agree that (not eating raw) but eating more veggies etc is essential... You shouldn't consider losing weight and eating better as a diet but a lifestyle change in your decisions on eating,, There is no easy way to lose weight but hard work and eating properly.
@mixwell1983 i'm sure you could if you wanted to! :) haha, just watch your cholesterol if you are eating meat, eggs, & dairy(actually, you should just stop eating dairy).
The word diet is used by misinformed, innocent, and greedy. The misinformed use the word because they think they can go back to eating dead foods /processed foods. The innocent use the word for "lack of better" word/term. The greedy of course write "diet" books to profit from the innocent & misinformed. I was raised on raw foods and encourage others to think about going raw, not for the season or to lose pounds but for life. Right on. Great video!
I think you are very handsome/cute. Very articulate. I've been doing raw for over 30 days now--I transitioned from a 100% organic and about 90% vegan diet. Over the years my whole mindset has changed--from whom I chose to associate with, where I want to work and where I want to live--things balance out--life is approached from the positive -so yes, you are right on.
To those who fear only drinking juice will endanger their health, I sugges you start with veggie/fruit smoothies before each meal, digest for 15 minutes and eat your regular meal. You may be so full that you won't need your regular meal or at the very least, you will not eat as much. Every day reduce the amount of your regular meal until you become at least 80% raw.
Just starting out and phillips vids are very helpful and I'm glad there's encouragement out there, and some great sound advice regarding the raw food lifestyle. Thanks
thanks for inspiring us how to live healthier physically, mentally and spiritually. im sure this lifestyle or way of life will make a wave of change. cooking and preparing food is an aesthetic science or art. people should have time to enjoy arts and science rather than fast foods and over the counter medication. change start from individual so im determined to start the change. thank you.
Hey Philip! Thanks again for another great video. I have shared this one with my Mom. I started her on an 80% raw/juicing plan as well after she had a bout of colitis. She has already lost weight and is cured from the colitis and it is only on week two! She just got a new juicer and is VERY excited with the changes her body is making :)
Thanks for your inspirations of body, mind and spirit.
What a great journey you have taken and continue to be on. Your story is very inspiring. Amazing how life can turn completely upside down in order to get us on our journey.
I felt hungry too, no matter how much I ate. I'm used to 'heavy', harder to digest foods. It's just a matter of my body adjusting to lighter cuisine. When I eat fresh foods, I don't feel like I've eaten anything. I'm hoping this will pass. I'm sure it will, if I can just stop cheating with those 'heavy' foods that make me feel more satisfied. Green smoothies will be what gets me there. They are immensely satisfying. Get through the detox before you make any decisions. Be a badger! Don't let go.
this reminds me of religions. People are looking for someone to follow, rather then making up their own diet. I feel fantastic. I am on a half raw, macro-biotic diet and the hunza diet..basically modifying my diet to how much I exercise. I try to go 99 percent organic and now I am not adding oil to my diet. Raw fooders add alot of oil. I am not that uptight about food. It is great to just learn alot about nutrition and not follow people like they are gurus.
This is incredibly inspiring. thank you for sharing this with us.
I've been dealing with that "diet" stigma when I tell people what I'm trying to do. They all ask when I'll eat normal food again and I try to tell them that (1) raw foods should be the norm not the minority and (2) this is not something with an expiration date, it is a lifestyle change.
I think that the "endless" component of raw is what caused me so much fear when first beginning...it was very difficult to accept that I wanted to make a dietary/lifestyle change for HEALTH, and not just temporary lifestyle...it was exciting, but terrifying, too, because I think I had spend so long NOT loving myself that it was scary to think of taking action out of self-love and desire to encourage vibrance within my being. It's hard to think of completely changing gears. But WORTH IT.
You are super inspiring! I have been vegan since Aug of this year and am looking to take my healthy lifetyle to the next level. You are helping me with that. Thanks!
I'm not that much into the raw food, but I'm trying. I'm just taking it one step at a time and using common sense along the way. But you guys rock on!
Thank you for commenting on responsibility. It's time we all realized that only being truly accountable to ourselves can bring us the happiness we're all looking for.
Slowly get to raw food is tortueing yourself. Nobody except urself can force us to eat raw food than urself so you can let ur desires go and go 100% raw now.
You can go raw vegan or raw vegetarian or raw omnivore and eat stuff like sashimi. I'm currently a raw vegetarian but I'm not completely raw because I still cook grains like rice and beans. I would say I'm about 80% raw though so it's up to you really.
Yes, I believe that eating living foods has made me more aware of what I'm eating, how I'm feeling, and what is around me. Being concerned with what you are putting into your body makes you concerned with how nature can influence your existence.
I think a lot of people somewhere along the line have lost the idea that they are able to make the changes they want in their lives and decide their own destiny. I never did accept responsibility for my own happiness until someone I became friends with last year said to me that once a moment has happened, its only an experience and then a memory. Our entire life is a series of memories, so if we dont make each moment what we want it to be, then it's never going to be the life we want.
You hit the nail on the head. People are generally very lazy. They don't want to put in the work. They'd rather take a pill or follow a fad diet they'll expect to go off later. And they repeat the cycle again and again.
Some of us eventually wake and see this doesn't work.
We need to eat nature's foods, avoid chemical, artificial processed crap, and get some exercise. This is the only way to a healthy life. End of story.
my son have very server stomach problem and sometime asthma when i give him raw food diet he fell sooo good! he have great skin he have not been sick for a long time he is very very smart and he think the food taste good when i 1st change his food he hate it but now he want eat nothing else and when he get a check up the doctor was surprise that his protein and iron is great. i hope to see you at the raw spirit festival. you are very articulate and inspiring. you are the next tony robbins. I see you changing the world with your message.
The video is very educative, it's good more and more ppl start talking. I dunno though if it's a right choice to go 100% raw while you have 5 months long winter when nothing grows in the area. I feel uncomfortable about going 100% raw winter time. Spring, Summer, Autumn is good I feel energised but Winter.. hmm..
probably because in winter your body temperature drops, and that tends to signal hunger and make us want to feel full and go to sleep. i started eating raw muesli to feel full and warm during cold months. I also drink hot tea. It's not raw, but it makes me feel warm so I am not tempted to eat cooked comfort foods.
I love hot green tea and I plan to keep drinking it. It will feel nice in winter, and maybe the warmth will help keep our insides 'washed'. Plus there's all those antioxidants.
