I saw this on PBS St. Louis the summer or Fall after finishing college and never forgot it. How can you not like Holm's performance; i thought the casting was great!

Just started re reading them again, too good, the British Chandler. Not sure I could watch anymore than this snippet, I've got the characters too fixed in my mind and they are pretty treasured creations. Bernard Samson is one of my all time heroes.

I've read all the books of Deighton. Admre his knowledge of the cities. It can;t be doe by buying a few maps and a tour guide.

by accident i saw some series on BBc in Holland. As always the movies aredisappointing compared to the books

My father gave lent me his hard back copy of the Bernard Samson novels, not quite sure if I would enjoy it. I loved it and was delighted when he showed me the stack of books that followed. I was recently far from home and in a used bookshop, where I found a battered paper back that revealed that these books had been adapted for the screen. Like many others, I have found not a trace of it until here. Any information on obtaining a copy would be most welcome. Thanks so much...

Len Deighton has said that the TV mini-series had the wrong casting (short instead of tall, brunette instead of blonde, English instead of American), and led into a different direction than we was going to go in further novels of the characters, so he's disavowed them.

Perhaps one day this will re-appear. I do have old videotapes that my father made for me, but cleaned up on DVD would be...wonderful!!!

Thank you for sharing this video! I remember watching this series when I was in college. I later read the books. I've been looking for a DVD remaster for years but have had no luck. Perhaps something will turn up on eBay. Who knows?

Holme is too short! Sampson is a big man, still I would love to watch the whole thing thanks for putting it up.

Morgan is more creepy than my imagination could conjure and I have read all nine books over and over.

@Anthony113010 The casting baffles me as well. He's not just short but noticeably so and I would need to see the whole mini-series before believing I can be convinced that Holm can seem intimdating at the moments when that's called for. Intimidating as opposed to merely short.

You have no idea how long I have waited to see this series again. I have spent years trawling ebay try to obtain a copy. I watched this when it was first released and should have videotaped the lot. Having visited East Berlin many times it is still tingling to recall passing through the military checkpoint. Just Brilliant to see a few clips again. I wish the author would change his mind and let it be shown again!!!
