  • Thank you for the video!! real helpful, because I was staring at my X-Box for about 20 mins trying to figure out to get those things off

  • what would happen if you applied arctic silver 5 thermal grease?

  • thanks for the upload!

  • thanks i looked all over for a nice tut thanks

  • so if you clean the gpu, the rr will go away

  • my heatsink was made of aluminum...

  • Just curious, why is too much paste a bad thing?

  • @steelmesh because the paste is used as a conductor between the two surfaces, and if you have too much paste it looses its ability to conduct properly and not as much heat is transfered from the cpu/gpu into the heatsink

  • @orochimarusux Not trying 2 b mean, but I don't understand ur logic. Image two pieces of glass, u put some peanut butter in between them and then stand on it. Regardless of how much peanut butter u put, all of it is going to spread out and flow out of the edges. You are just making an opinion, no facts or logic to back it up...

  • @steelmesh or the the thermal paste oozing reservoir on the sides of the chip can cause the heat to disperse back into the motherboard which is even worse.

  • @steelmesh well you are wrong, there will still be a thin layer of peanut butter inebeteen the two pieces of glass, its like you want to create the thinest layer possible between the two surfaces.

  • @orochimarusux All I am looking for is an engineer specializing in thermal dynamics, we're obviously not those people =)

  • @steelmesh the concept is like this, the thermal paste is a poor conductor of the heat compared to copper and is only there to make sure the 2 are touching. Having too much would cause them to separate forcing all of the heat to go through the paste there for loosing effectiveness.

  • @steelmesh fucktard

  • @TheBL00DAssassin Hey friend

  • @steelmesh Hey motherfucking fucktard

  • @TheBL00DAssassin Hi friend

  • Thanks so much man appreciate it but how do i put them back?

  • ok.. well how do you put them back on?

  • This.... ACTUALLY WORKED!!! Thank you SO much!

  • great video!!! thanx ChickenBizkut!!

  • after you use the ArctiClean to clean the thing.. will u still get over heated?

  • When ur done taking all the stuff off and cleaning them and put everything back on do the X clamps just pop back into place? And then instead of Rubbing Acohal wipes can u just use a Q tip with a little rubbing Acohal on it?

  • @mooman505 yes that is what i did. no more red ring!!!

  • Is there a method to actually remove the CPU and/or the GPU it's self?

  • @zZIMonsterIZz naw sorry didn't see the other comments

  • @zZIMonsterIZz hell no

  • @zZIMonsterIZz for about 20 mins, yes, but after that they will overheat and, erm.... break. :)

  • hi is it true on the new jasper boards if u remove the heatsinks it breaks the chips????

  • yeaaassssssss . one cut finger and a headache later bt i got the crap off without damaging the board

  • I removed the 2 x-clamps and for somereason the flat looking heatsink isnt poping out. 2 corners of it that are opposite side of each other arent poping out.

THe 2 corners are next to the 2 yellow tower looking things ;)... I rly dont know what its called so yeah..Also i have the same xbox 360 as u

  • :P microsoft is cheap as sh4t.

  • When you were removing the heatsinks, were those squares on the bottom thermal pads for other chips?

  • sweet! i couldn't figure these things out if my life depended on it! and i fix computers regularly! everything about this console is a pain in the arse. i finally get mine cleaned out and the crust for thermal paste replaced and no longer have the dreaded jet sounding xbox-o-doom/firehazerd

  • how about putting a xbox 360 mineral oil???

  • Instead of poking the hole they way you are doing, i found it a lot easier to just open it through the side of each clamp...Just push something slim through the holes and push out.

  • i just finishes, cleaning the cpu and gpu, added some thermal paste arctic silver 5 and overheated it ,waiting for it to cool down,i hope it will work

even if it doesnt i want to thank you for helping me understand how it works

  • @MiraGhulag Just get a laptop cooling pad, plug it in the USB port, and set your 360 ontop of it. I have two, one for the 360 system and one for the power source. It works very well.

  • my cpu and gpu are almost dont have thermal stuff on it,its almost bare

  • Thanks you so much for this! It really helped me a lot! Xbox lives again! :D

  • What are those square thingys over each 4 chips next to the CPU X-Clamp under the mother board?

  • yeah, not that smart to tuch the motherboard, can cause damage...

  • Never heard about damaging it .How many people apply the homemade rrod temporary fix each day and touch the motherboard.

  • well if your grounded, dont warp the board with ur hands, or bend anything on the board, and i guess clean what u touched( depending on what you touched)

    with alcohol and q-tips

  • @TheCrayonMan529 Uhhh yeah not really unless your a retard and are prone to dropping it..

  • am i the first to name the song playing in the background? lol AC/DC rock and roll dream

  • the way ur doing this is scary.

  • 3:30 you used 5 minutes to get the first two off, and for the third one 4:08, 2 seconds... lol

  • if those x clamps are the problem why doesnt microsoft remove them and put something else there that can provent rrod?

  • They want them to Rrod.

  • its part of the way their manufactured its simpler.

  • Because that's not the problem. Its actually been proven that lead free solder sucks. And guess who used it Microsoft. You can reball the gpu but it will cost some serious cash+Microsoft has some bad motherboard design.

  • the x-clamps arent the problem. they're there to prevent the motherboard from warping if it overheats. the problem is that they arent tight enough, but we replace them because there's no point in keeping the old ones after they caused the dreaded RRoD.......DUH Duh duhhhhhh......

  • Well done :-)

  • Thanks- you - clearest of all videos I've seen on this subject

  • nice vid

  • Thank you sir.

  • Great help, thank you

  • Thanks, I needed that.
