Furthermore, the most closely related car to the R8 is in fact the Lamborghini Gallardo (the whole V10 drivetrain is nearly identical). So with you're killer logic the Gallardo is, in turn, a luxury VW. You have a brand bias, it's not expected that Lexus would make the LFA either. However both the LFA and R8 are admirably fast.

I drive a '93 Audi 80 2.3E. It has a fully galvanized body (No rust at all!), a really cool sounding inline 5-cylinder engine and it will do more than 300'000 kilometers. A Workmate of mine has the same car, he did 365'000 kilometers til now, it still drives perfectly!
I was referring to the 80's. The Audi built today is way better then anything they've ever built. They did build cars that lasted but they had their share of problems. Didn't mean to generalize the suckage.
Todays cars of Audi are great, no doubt! Except their new Multitronic VDC-gearbox, Well, in this kind of cars it's a new technology. It wears out too fast and they often have electronic problems with the control unit.

it broke down ever 10000 kms and had many mechanical problems. if vw havent brought lambo i don't think it would still exist (what would be a great shame). costumer needs change in time, so is the competition, which sometimes results in less well made modells from different car companies

I don't get Italien but the R8 is not a Lambo. The first Gallardo got a V10 which basically was a derived Audi V8. The current LP-560 got Audi's Fuel Stratisfied Injection (FSI). Lambo got the aluminum ASF technology from Audi. The same with the 4-wheel drive system. Not even the platform is the same. The Audi chassi is 9cm longer. Both cars do not even share 15%, but ever since Audi owns Lambo it's a profitable car brand. Best regards.

Its a great ad. Audi knows its not Farrari, can't be Farrari, and that Farrari is the planet's leader in sports cars,and racing, period. Audi plays on this, and this is the "hidden" humor, that makes the commercial work. It also does some greater, it instills a "hidden trust" and admission by Audi to Farrari, therefor gaining trust in the consumers mind. Simply Brilliant.
I agree that Audi can't compete with Ferrari as far as their complete line-up goes. But if you have been paying any attention to any real racing, you would know that Audi has dominated for quite a while now. For example..back in august, Audi took a 1-2-3-4 victory at the Nürburgring.
I personally am not a fan of Ferrari. They are to F1 oriented in their cars. Lamborghini, however, is awesome because their cars are totally ludicrous.
I prefer Ferrari any day don't get me wrong, but from what I've heard, all wheel drive gives you better handling in corners and better pace off the line.
If, by your statement you mean that rear wheel drive is better than front, I agree. But if you mean that, as in the case of this R8, rwd is better than awd, then I'm not so sure.

The V10 drive train is identical because the WV group took it from Lamborguini when they bought it, not the other way.
But comparing a copycat of the gallardo with a Ferrari is sensless.

I don't know what u refer to with the expression "technical fucking shit" but of course benz was "better" at the time when they were building cars for 25 years and August Horch just decided to make cars. however in 2007 far more mercedes cars visited the local garages due to electrical problems than audis. other times other engineers other financial and commercial conditions. my all time favorite car is the miura, but i must admit and u should too, that technicaly it was a piece of crap.

it broke down ever 10000 kms and had many mechanical problems. if vw havent brought lambo i don't think it would still exist (what would be a great shame). costumer needs change in time, so is the competition, which sometimes results in less well made modells from different car companies

audi invented the following things:left-hand drive,cardan shaft,shock-resistant engine, light metal gears,aluminum space frame (also used in lambos now and way bigger atchievement than quattro cause of the extremly complicated manufacturing technology), communication among cars and traffic lights, customizable dashboard and countless other things.
what is cool doesn't depend on what is good.i see u'r "religious" view on cars so i don't want to persuade you of anything (would be worthless effort)

Non vedo perchè tanta rabbia. Si sà che la Ferrari è un marchio di prestigio, ma non bisogna essere nazionalisti (fondamentalisti). L'audi fa macchine che l'alfa non puo neanche permettersi di sognare. Fiat, Alfa e Lancia sono marchi inaffidabili. Non vanno confrontati alla bellezza e alla'affidabilità di un Audi. Quando (potrebbe anche essere una domanda) l'Italia fara automobili decenti ne riparleremo (non parlo di super sportive)

Ma le audi sono TUTTI CARROZZONI BIDONI, ho provato una RS6 è ha di buono solo il motore e la trazione integrale, per il resto non è stabile ed è goffa sul misto.
La 156 GTA batte ancora la RS4.
Le alfa esteticamente (esclusa la mito-tapiro) battono 100000000 a 0 le audi tutte uguali e tamarre.
Basta che minchionne ampli la gamma e faccia le lancia e le alfa a tp e con i nuovi motori chrysler tornerà sulla vetta.

I don't get Italien but the R8 is not a Lambo. The first Gallardo got a V10 which basically was a derived Audi V8. The current LP-560 got Audi's Fuel Stratisfied Injection (FSI). Lambo got the aluminum ASF technology from Audi. The same with the 4-wheel drive system. Not even the platform is the same. The Audi chassi is 9cm longer. Both cars do not even share 15%, but ever since Audi owns Lambo it's a profitable car brand. Best regards.

Those are the "side blades" on the car. Basically Audi decided they needed a completely different panel for the air scoop. Why? Who the fuck knows. But on this R8 they are painted chrome.

Its a great ad. Audi knows its not Farrari, can't be Farrari, and that Farrari is the planet's leader in sports cars,and racing, period. Audi plays on this, and this is the "hidden" humor, that makes the commercial work. It also does some greater, it instills a "hidden trust" and admission by Audi to Farrari, therefor gaining trust in the consumers mind. Simply Brilliant.

I agree that Audi can't compete with Ferrari as far as their complete line-up goes. But if you have been paying any attention to any real racing, you would know that Audi has dominated for quite a while now. For example..back in august, Audi took a 1-2-3-4 victory at the Nürburgring.

I prefer Ferrari any day don't get me wrong, but from what I've heard, all wheel drive gives you better handling in corners and better pace off the line.
If, by your statement you mean that rear wheel drive is better than front, I agree. But if you mean that, as in the case of this R8, rwd is better than awd, then I'm not so sure.

Yes that is correct all wheel drive putts the engine power on all wheels wich makes it easier to control and gives you better handling.
What i meant to say is Audi doesn't have a rear wheel drive car. So it can't really be compared with Ferrari wich is only rear wheel drive.
Even the president of BMW said and i quote:
"We don't see Audi as a threat because they aren't rear wheel drive"
And i think that Ferrari is just too much hardcore for Audi if this was München that would be more correct.
