  • cant imagine this during a live gig... maybe in some black metal cafe or black metal bar or somethin lol... a song for them to chill and relaaaaaax

  • @MrBluetit

I have no clue how any of Xasthur songs would go over live. Probably why he never played anything live. It's a shame Malefic folded Xasthur though.

  • @metldrummer2112 He played with Nachtmystium once live

  • @Ornus

I was referring to Xasthur material though. He played Beyond The Light by Twilight live when he was with Nachtmystium.

  • lol i wonder how they make the songs so grungey and old school...its so awesome...

  • @MrBluetit A combination of shitty production quality (his equipment is a 4 track and a discman) and massive reverb on everything.

  • Speaking of finding CD's. Over here in Hollywood, CA. (Amoeba Records) there's like 20 copies of this CD alone

  • lol in a second-hand music store in the middle of Missouri, there's a bunch of really good underground black metal albums for sale. There are 2 or 3 copies of this album, and my friend and I found Marblebog and several other really good albums there

  • Death to humans beings!!

  • you can buy those albums to dis-order website

  • I see the Californitards keep thumbing down my comments

CALIFORNIA is a nest of evil, so much sunlight, warmth, people = evil

  • @FatherWarhol

    Yes we are evil >:)

  • profundo oscuro y sobretodo genial

  • A terrible rainbow of low fidelity drone. This is one of my favourites.

  • California would make even Paul renounce god

    California is an abomination

  • Best song off this album

  • You are all wearing masks. Take them off and listen to how silly you people sound.

  • It's interesting. The cover you have up is slightly different to my cd of this album. The cover on mine is the same picture but they have used one side of the picture twice and reversed it on one side to create a symmetry.

  • The Copy of this CD that I saw in a record shop today was symmetrical too. That's odd, maybe it's a different pressing or something.

  • Malefic fucking owns!!!!

  • Xasthur is the only one that can make people seem that really non-scary stuff is scary!

  • Funny thing, I always saw it the other way

  • He's definately played live before, even managed to get it on DVD with Nachtmystium. It was a pretty boring fucking performance too. He would've done alot better to have skipped that one.

  • You signed in to your youtube account 16 hours ago...

  • i smell poser ;)

  • Haha looks like I wasn't the only one to notice! lol

  • I smell a desire of attention!

  • Stupid kid...

  • @carlosmanpinto HEY!, don't talk about yourself that way.. :/

  • ....He has played live before.

  • this music is pure magic ...i have no words the depression's incarnation ...it makes me wanna live this miserable world

  • we already do.

  • I like this fucking tunes!

  • this is what i would listen to if a lived in sient hill

  • Best comment on this whole page!

  • He sold out! Listen to how this recording is slightly clearer than the last one. :)

  • How does that mean he sold out? People dug his music and paid for it so he got the money and went out and bought better equipment. Maybe he just wanted something that didn't cost 20 buck from Guitar Center.

  • I am kidding. Xasthur has, arguably, the most raw recordings in all BM.

  • Are you dumb?......or you just can't pick up on sarcasm? And it's STUDIO.

  • Oh it's 'cos he lives in California folks.

  • why did you get thumbs down? You're right. Scott lives about a block from Ameoba records in Hollywood...I saw him in that store...he's a truly interesting person to see...

  • @GuitarGodReborn No shit! I go there when ever I get the chance. Hell, maybe I've seen him before. That's so cool dude.

  • awesome

  • I would probably shit myself if I heard this song while on LSD. I can imagine this song being really frightening. Really mood setting, relaxing any other time, despite putting off such a dark atmosphere. Xasthur FTW!

  • this song sends shivers down my spine

i really like xasthur, very creative

  • V yes Malefic is American. He resides in Cali ;]

  • Explains everything.

  • The Best American Black Metal Artist. ( I think he's American)

His music sorta has a life of its own

  • If I have to listen to 1 metal band this is it. No other band comes close in terms of lyrics, vocals, and music!

  • I really like this song. I finally bought this album because I'm a big fan of Malefic's work with Sunn O))). From what I've heard...it looks like I made a wise investment. Man those keyboards are impressive!

  • It is indeed a wise investment sir. And may I suggest you listen to it at night on headphones to really appreciate its glorious black joy.

In the company of Xasthur, even something as mundane as a post midnight trip to the corner shop for milk and a sliced pan becomes a voyage into an enthralling netherworld that exists far beyond this corporeal realm.

    Swear to god. Try it.

  • hahahahahahahahaha fucking hilarious.- to towerofthedead

  • Makes sense.

  • ..i know, and i dont even need the music to experience it.

  • what? XD

  • ROTFL!!! you're hilarious

  • @towerofthedead HAH! Thats exactly when i listen to Xasthur too!! It is honestly the most peacfull and indeed enthralling thing ever

  • @towerofthedead : So fucking true my friend ... last night I was watching the moon , smoking a cig and listening to this song .... indeed a voyage to the ethereal realms

  • Sliced pan? What the fuck? I think you're lacking the misanthropy to really appreciate the music.

  • cool band or guy i guess in this case this is not exactly a band but why do all the songs sound like there such bad quality is it suppose to sound like that?

  • it's fuckin Black Metal man! more raw sound, more fun :D

  • Yes. It gives it a colder, dirtier, rawer feel, and the whole point is the atmosphere and "feel".

  • Possibly my favorite song off the album... It simply takes me to a realm of solitude and of comfort.

  • How come I never find any solid copys of albums from great bands like this?

  • This is absolutely stunning!

    Stunningly beautiful!!

    best wishes,

    y

  • ..from the first tone, excellent!..i am going to buy this one as soon as it is out on vinyl.

  • Malefic are my gods

  • Malefic its a man of genius!!!

  • @KiNgApOsTeLz

    "Genius" is an understatement.

  • xashur rules!!!

  • Melefic continues to produce the most evil and fantastic music ever

  • Check out Black Silence Malignant in my videos let me know what you think also United States Black Metal!!!!!!

  • ja geil.. find ich toll, gefällt mir sehr gut, mir gefällt in letzter zeit der deprissive black metal sehr gut.. so wie thy light, etc...

  • of course is xasthur the best this album is good

  • Stores sell the albums, you just need to know where to look.

  • theendofignorance - you can buy the album directly from Hydra Head records

  • @theendofignorance Some stores sell some don't depending where you shop. If you can't get in a store get from the net amazon.com or ebay.

  • @theendofignorance Want a link?

  • @theendofignorance Think about it, how many people in 100,000 would be into Xasthur enough to go to a store and buy it? I'm willing to bet it's a few, if that. It's simply not good business sense. Internet is the best way to go unless you've got a kick ass local store

  • @theendofignorance lol dude u need to look harder, i found my first xasthur album just browsing through a best buy

  • @theendofignorance There's also internet stores and whatnot. Google is your friend.

  • @theendofignorance

I can show you how to download it, just message me or something. Even if I had found it in the store I wouldn't buy it.

  • Best song on the album, I had my doubts during the first spin of the disc; I just thought "How could anyone continue to make albums so diverse in a seemingly 1 dimensional sound?" But once this track came on, I was sold. "Defective Epitaph" is slowly becoming my favorite offering from Malefic, "Oration of Ruin" is pretty fucking amazing as well. It seems he really expanded on the sound drawn from the Cryostasium split album, I was hoping he would, but you know how musicians are. :-)

  • I think the new album is very good!

  • This song is fucking good man. Cool song!

  • No.

  • but leviathan is also fucking killer

  • you americans can be proud such a great musician give your country some non-pop modern musical talent.

  • knew i would get so much thumbs up... *sigh*

  • @whitec100 I second that! :P

  • @whitec100 Leviathan is American too haha

  • @whitec100 i dont think hes a product of his country, rather the product of his beliefs...

  • @HastaElDesmadre I know, im not american by the way... its just good to see some deep black metal music emerging from this continent. And by the way i know that leviathan is american too, in fact i prefer his stuff to Xasthur. Some of their collabs are really good, i really like the Remotest Cipher, i think its called

  • Malefics vocals sounds so grim in this album, just amazing!

Hail Xasthur for proving that not only us in the north can make great black metal!

  • Malignant Prophecy and Dehumanizing procession are my favorite of the album, but this is a very good song.

  • fuck! malefic you are a genius

  • HAIL MALEFIC!

    HAIL USBM!

The percussion sounds so much better on this newer material.

The drum obvious drum-machine sound I always thought took away from the creepiness before, but this sounds like it is a live kit. Now I appreciate every aspect of Xasthur.

  • NO fucking way this is from the U.S.! This is too dark and too abstract. I cant believe it, what state?

  • California.

  • Amazing.

  • The reason in fact that it is so dark is because he lives in the city. As he put it himself, living in the city, he comes in contact with people everyday, which makes you think; who should be writing darker music, those who come in contact with those they hate every day, or those who live in a forest far from society?

  • Well thats a good point. Its just funny how black metal originated in a place where the musical sounds were aiken to the climate...which I never thought was a coincidence. Great music.

  • And Malefic does this all on his own :D Awesome! One of my great inspirations!

  • Well, this has encouraged me to go buy the new album. This is an excellent song.

  • this is the best of the album. I love how the keyboards come in right at 1:22, it's so chilling..
