  • a beautiful haunting performance by noel harrison, deep

  • am i the only one freaked out by that creepy dude at the start??

  • @piehead360 That creepy dude is Jack Dee, he's a hilarious comic! :)

  • ..Why does this remind me of Charlie & thee Chocolate factory.,. ツ♬☆

  • spine tinglingly good!

  • Great lyrics

  • in 1969 you had to be able to sing to be recognized

  • Since I heard this song the first time it's stuck in my head, and no matter how many other versions I hear this is the one that 'haunts' me. There's something really magic about it.

  • Sting sang this better and the music was way better. Even the introduction to this song by that weirdo guy... was.... weird!

  • @Waddamattau You have to hear this when it's played in the glider scene in the movie. It all makes sense then and you'll realize for that movie there can be no better version.

  • @Iank14 Will do. Thanks for the reference. (I didn't realize the word, "reference" had so many "e's" in it) Ha-ha. Thanks spell check!

  • Windmill to your face

  • @TheGamer1661 hahahahahaha this is got to be the stupidest response ever but hilarious!

  • Michel Legrand, what a magnificent composer.

  • @shiroi11 Yes Dusty has a beautiful voice but the version she did was too jazzed up. It lost the feeling of innocent wonder that the original has.

  • im sorry but this just doesnt compare to the Dusty Springfield version. he has a good voice yes. but he's singing so fast through this song it gives a sort of disingenuous feel to the song. it's like when this was recorded he was singing through this shit fast so he could get off the camera ASAP. lol

  • @shiroi11

Really? the way I see it, I feel as if he was wondering about the lyric as he sang them. I find that he see the lyric as he sees life, the little things that you forget and the hastiness of life.

  • found this on some commercial from eva mendes. great song! love this version too!

  • this is a Legrand song

    original is in french

  • @alcore3

both were written simultaneously for a film, the melody is ripped from some mozart thing, so yeah, there is an original french version, and an original english version

  • @DuddBudda

    interesting !

    which mozart thing?

  • The great art of Chanson isn't limited to Belgium(or France or Germany as a matter of fact).

This has got to be the greatest hymn to the confusion that is basically being a sentient ape ever written.

  • Oh my God this song just brought a whole stream of memories from my own childhood like no other has ever done...wow...

  • Just Perfect

  • Sad to say, but i am probably the only person of my age (13-16) to actually like this kind of music

  • @VendettaHawk lol youre never the only one of an age who loves a kind of music :)

  • @BeatlesLover20000 It very much seems like it!

  • @VendettaHawk good on you. i am getting my 5 year old into 60's and 70's music. so far so good x

  • @VendettaHawk u got good taste then :)

  • @VendettaHawk

Dear, you can never be alone.

    I'm 16.

  • Only he can sing so

  • romantic

  • TIMELESS CLASSIC BUT - " WHERE DID THE TIME GO " ?

  • Finally, a great song, and a singer who can actually sing!

  • Takes you back to a time when young English men actually sang like young English men...and not high pitched American girls...wonderful song/performance

  • Rex Harrison's son. Talent clearly runs in their family.

  • wow

  • That 1 dislike did mean thumbs up, really but it kinda of slipped up his ass.

  • This song gives me some hope that someone might have understood the madness and aching sorrow that I sometimes feel.

  • @bustercaps Indeed. I feel that combination of emotions often; and this song evokes it so well.

  • Dusty Springfield is good. So is Rolando Villazon.

  • i just recorded this..."Live"..would LUV & appreciate any comments@@ my channel

    Blessings :)

  • hes not really singing, its more of a poem, still beautiful lyrics

  • I first heard the Sting version, which was very good. I loved the song and found various versions, (Montreal Jazz Quartet, Dusty Springfield, etc...) but it is the original which is best. The original, unadorned rhythm and unpretentious delivery gives it a "wheel" like impulse which is, well, the whole idea behind the song.

  • Truly magical ....!

  • Great song, I love it. but where can I find the " B " side of the original record?

  • Much Better than Music these days

  • @samueltheodoridi

    I Agree

  • Where did music go like this? Tingles ur spine... in 27 and it seems born far to late

  • @jcmidnight666 How do you think I feel. I'm 18 -.-

  • @shazaha i agree with you guys....my friends would totally laugh at me :P im thirteen

  • This is the song I sing when I feel my mind is slowly going away and it makes me sad

  • the guy at the beginning is weird.

  • This song is 1000 times better than the remake of the song.

  • You have to have a slight inkling of life & the universe 2 write this baby! Classic

  • Noel is a real Gent. He's back in the UK now. Still performs locally. Sent an email no too long ago. Great guy. Great talent.

  • I would be patriotic if england still had something like this to make it great.

  • HAHAHAHAHA JACK DEE <3

  • @Vincibue Not if you have a positive mind. =)

  • lol at the one mardy bum who disliked, amazing song best singer for it

  • as bluemooner001 stated a very haunting song

  • Close your eyes, turn up the volume & let your mind do the rest! Fantastic. what a voice! mysterious, magical & haunting!. Best version by a long way!

  • @Bluemooner001 ooo this song gives me goosebumps :-) is this the original version?

  • did he write this?

  • @mrmebs yes he did, and he was also in the film, he is also the son off Rex Harrison

  • @mrmebs Music by Michel Legrand, lyrics by Alan & Marilyn Bergman

  • the lyrics speak the truth and it makes sense

  • @iBoLTzACTioNz you notice that aswell?the song makes sence

  • Beautiful voice and a great song :)

is that a younger Jack Dee I see?

  • @dACheetahWolf More importantly, is that a young Jack Dee looking quite happy about something? :3

  • @Foxglurves OH MY! :D he DOES look happy...for once XD.
