  • Does anyone know the name of that beautiful piece of music from 1:46-2:11 is? Thanks :)

  • Sicilians reach enlightenment?!

  • the president, Salvatore "Totò" Cuffaro is currently serving a 7 years sentence for aiding the Mafia. His nickname is "Vasa Vasa" [Kiss Kiss] for his tendency to kiss all and sundry - he claims that he has kissed a quarter of all the people on the island

  • Wouldnt the president of Italy be the president of Sicily?

  • @edthewise yes and no. Sicily is one of the five autonomous regions in italy. Sicily has its own president.

  • @Luca908 In Italy every region has its own president as a fundamental figure of the normal devolution. The autonomy of a region given by the "spacial statute" is then just something different.

  • I would love to live in the real Sicily, not the overpopulated Palermo or the touristic Taorimina but the centre is the area with countryside valleys and the older towns and generations with culture and character, i go there almost every year but there is just no real work or money to be made which is why i dont otherwise i would have a nice house in the campagna by now :P haha

  • @SNIPERHAWK8 I do. It's amazing. From Naro to Motta Sant'Anastasio, I have lived here aorund 5 years now.

However, it would be better if there were more pizzerias open on Mondays. I could use a pizza tonight. Minkia...

  • they look arab, act arab and there music is arab influenced, they are italian speaking arabs

  • @Ramox3 You obviously have no clue what an Arab is.

  • @Ramox3

Incredible. 0_o......Are you moron or ignorant??

  • @Ramox3 No they are not arabs. But they probably are mixed with arabs from thousands of years. And if you say they are arabs then so are greeks, spainards, and bunch of other european groups.

  • @Ramox3 It's obvious you haven't got a clue what italian sounds like and the differences it presents whith the sicilian language, nor do you have any idea what the italian cultural make up looks like and just how diverse it is from one region to the next...

  • my step dad was in the military i lived in sicily 3 years i miss it

  • I've been to Sicily...amazing!

  • I am a proud Sicilian of Castlebuono

  • my great grand mother was from monenero (idk how to spell it). i hope to go there someday, and tour italy and find distant family members! :D

  • Would love to go to Sicly and the rest of Italy, my mother's family is of Corsican descent, I know it belongs to France but it the last names and culture are still very much Italian.

  • typical igbnorant arrogant yank nob head

  • Uhh I think he had to cooperate with them.

  • I envy the Sicilian lifestyle, so casual and relaxing, and these guys keep such a healthy diet of olive oil, tomatoes, garlic and pasta. They know how you should live a life!

  • (Sicily is a region,not a nation)

Look at that fat, clumsy and foolish man trying to appear worthy of the post he fills. He shows around the island, with his stupid fat ass walk, claiming to be a real lover of Sicily.People who are supposed to love Sicily would never cooperate with the Mafia like he did. In 2010 the Palermo Appeals Court confirmed his two previous convictions and added the aggravation of favoring the Mafia, sentencing him to seven years in prison.Shame on you,Cuffaro!

    A Sicilian.

  • hey! nice! i was this summer in this restaurant! it's very nice, great food....nice people :)

  • I would love to visit this wonderful Place someday!!

    Sicily a Paradise!

  • What a boring show.

  • SICILY IS GREEK / HELLENIC

  • interesting. one is playing in a major and one is playing in a minor...i think

  • I can get my hand cut if not true - that last man in deres was not Italian but a Romanian gypsy

  • Everything about Sicily looks refined :)

  • I'm Italian and i'm embarrassed because it seems that in Italy we only play stupid and horrible songs, make noise and use only the "heart". We are not a funny character from Simpsons or some Mafia's tv show, we don't use the heart more than everybody does and we don't sing stupid folkloristic songs all the time!! We seem neanderthals! By the way Italy is a beautiful country, but is very different from what the tv shows.

  • @KatanaFlower True,Italy like for example where my family hails from (Andalucia and Catalonia) is a gorgeous country with each region having its own culture, history and traditions. Unfortunately most Americans think that ALL Italians are the typical "mafiosios" they portray on TV.

  • I <3 ITALiAN/SiCiLiAN culture, cuisine & people.... my great grandparents on my Father's side were Italians...... generations down, IM LATiNA!! Crazy huh? lol

  • @MzLaLaLove Nah,My Parents were Italian but Im Australian that speaks Italian....Global Community, beautiful how we end up!

  • So what's with the (former) president now? I heard he's appealing the sentence he got and stepped down from presidency but got elected senator? Man....Sicilian politics are just as complicated as here in America. The guy seems like a good guy though.

  • @GeronKizan They always look like good guys...just look at Berlusconi: he always smiles and makes jockes (not funny at all) but he is the worst person in the entire world. He is corrupted and he just lies all the time. I don't know why somebody still votes for him. And in the south of Italy everything is more complicated.

  • im sicilian and italian ... jealous?

  • haha, yes that's Italian movie

  • Ooooooooooooh, I want to go to Sicily.

  • my parents are finally going in October...gonna find my father's father's home town of Bompietro. I'm jealous as all hell...and I want a spleen sandwich!

  • Bourdain kicks every fucking TV chef's arse.

  • siciliano pride

  • no spleen for me thank you

  • and it's mainly Greek!!!

  • @greenglance183 Like the mayor of Sicily himself said 4:54: dont forget the Arabs!

  • Sicily is a great country, i have met so many peolple from there and read soooo many books on the place. It has beutiful landscapes and the people are very proud & respectful. From such a small island comes great power and an even greater influence on the whole world.

  • sicily is not a country...its a region in italy

  • OF, not IN Italy if we're going to be technical

  • wats wrong with in? it sounds perfectly fine to me

  • im sicilian but i live in U.S.A usa and sicily are to good places

  • im sicilian and proud 2 be canadian at the same time....another great country

  • Sicily is a really nice place and the people there are wonderful! Skyysea is a Jerk and should pick up a book! You are Ignorant!

  • Sicily is a wonderful place. The ignorant comments about Sicily and it's people hurt very much. There's no reason why Sicilians and Sicily don't deserve respect like anyone else. They're human like everyone else. There should be no place for hate anymore. We're in the 21st century now and it seems the only changes we can make are technological. It's time for a global-sociatal change. It's time for respect and kindness to our fellow man whoever he may be.

  • I agree with you 100%. my moms side is from sicily. its a beautiful region rich with tradition, culture, food, music etc...all those stereotypical comments regarding the mafia are lame...times have changed, things are not wat they were back in the early 1900s

  • Tall order

  • Sicily seems so beautiful..I really wanna go there one day~

  • You should go in mid september to mid october, still really warm and the tourists are at home and things are really less expensive.

  • Argh! I'm Sicilian and believe me...LET ME OUT OF HERE!!!

  • seems cool to visit though

  • @flowerpower7714 i it i went there last year and my cousin brought me everywhere and the food omfg put it on ur bucket list

  • let me get this straight?...the mayor of that town in sicily is called the president?...wow

  • The President is the President of Silcily the Island-Nation, not the city. Sicily is not a city.

In Louisiana our "County Commisioners" are Parish Presidents, because one, we have Parishes not counties, and he/she presides over the parish counsel so he is the President. In Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish and the City of Baton Rouge are combined into one government and the Mayor's title is Mayor-President, because he is the Mayor of the city AND president of the parish.

  • thanks for the info. even thou im a bit confuse by it...hahaha oh well every country has different form of goverment, here in my country the philippines, we have a republic form of gov't. and in every city their is one congressman under him/her is a governor under him/her is a mayor under the mayor is a barangay captain in every district of the city.

  • No all the Cooks and Tailors have been Extorted they just work with the mafia

  • This is Sicily: eating, drinking, playing mandolin...Please.

Thta would be like saying: cowboys, beers (and worse): this is America.

  • Sicily makes me cry like a little schoolgirl. No not really , but good show tho. go tony

  • i like italians movies too =)

    that star was good

  • just got back not too long ago.. made me cry.. i love Sicily!!!!

  • I'm never fond of eating spleen (or any other organs such as liver for that matter), but that sandwich looks tempting. Everything else in this episode looks delicious though. Lucky Bourdain.

  • Great show! A shame that I have never been south of Lazio. My maternal ancestors are from Salerno, and I have always wanted to go to the Mezzogiorno, Sicily included.

  • They had a LOTS of problems with their fixers for this episode and had to pretty much make the entire episode on the fly.

  • Yeah I read/heard that too - didn't he say that the caper farmer bit was the only it he really liked?

  • Palermo! ooh mio dio quanto mi manchi la mia città natale

    quali un bel posto!

  • I've been to Rome, Capri and Accici but never Sicily. Now I want to go ;)

  • my wife is a siciliana...sicily is the best place on earth

  • I've been to Italy twice but never to Sicily.. now I'm interested, thx for uploading, great food as always

  • I was in Sicily in 2003 absolutely loved it.If u do go make sure u visit the markets in Palermo and Catania the food there is amazing. If u are going to try one dish make sure u have spaghetti alla pesce sparda (spaghetti with sword fish) and for something different try carne eqquina (horse meat).

  • the nickname of the (ex)president was "kiss kiss" because he had the habit to kiss everyone to show how friendly he used to be

  • I Love this show.Good food and a laugh!

  • EVERY group of people in the world are stereotyped, even us Americans.

As for your "Mafia" remark, you realize that we are talking about the Mezzogiorno, right?

  • I don' t understand what you mean: maybe you think all the south of Italy is mafioso? Sorry to disappoint you but it ain't so.

I have enjoyed the "Kitchen confidential" book but this episodi is offensive. Islike saying all americans are rednecks with boots as shoes and only wife-beaters as dresses.

  • I don't understand your stereotype.

  • questa e la cultura e tradizione in Sicilia....la musica e molto importante....especialemente, lu friscalettu e marranzanu

  • dovrebbe venire anche in emilia-romagna!!!!!

  • i luv how he sets the atmosphere in some scenes

  • He would have had a hell of a lot better time if he had went East and not went to Trapani.

  • at 7:26, they spelled character wrong

  • I love how he gave the tiny guy a cigarette.

  • "what the hell was that?" ahaha

  • Anthony , Cicily are nice .. .....

  • Nice rip! I love that show soo much

  • Viva Anthony!!!!!

  • accussì avemu macari anthony "vasa vasa"
