The final battle against Nightmare was the shit! I remembered it so well, that I still dislike fighting the "Orb" form of that monster. The first time when I played Kirby's Adventure I thought that after I've beaten the first form of Nightmare, I thought his second form would bring me the most hellish battle I've ever struggled, but I was wrong! He was one E-Z fool.

Mainly because of the fact that this was released when the NES was old and dying. It took advantage of the technology that was in the NES, never see any rotating 3D towers in super mario 3 do ya?

It used DPCM which was kinda like the equivalent to the DAC channel of the Sega Genesis, it takes a sound sample and is played back through pulse code (hence the term Pulse Code Modulation)

Except this one had a nice muffle instead of the scratchy sound that DAC-compressed samples had.

Also this is one of the very few NES games that uses a pulse wave as the bass line and the triangle wave in little "pops" in the tracks.
