@Echschmet That spin results in stored energy. A ball that has spin and stored energy drives through the pin harder and deflects less. A good example of why to throw a hook ball is a spare where one pin is directly in front of the other. A straight ball HAS to hit the front pin dead smack in the middle to knock out the back pin, other wise the pin goes one way and the ball deflects in other. If you hook at that spare, the ball can drive through and cover the back pin as well.
Super-nice job on this vid. I never get tired of watching it. LeMond is in the zone, kind of like a pitcher working on a no-hitter. There is very little ambient bowling center noise recorded (kind of like what you don't hear when you're totally focused on your game.) And your choice of music "floats" i.e. it's kind of "ethereal" with no vocals to distract the viewer. That's my 2-cents. Again, nice going and Thanks.
Yep Craig, i played this same line during my first outing at Reno. It worked great, but takes nerves of steel cause nobody was in there with me. By the time singles came around it opened up real nice. I was using 900 global break solid.
I will be heading to Reno next year to bowl in my 2nd USBC Open Championships event. I am looking forward to it. I throw the ball so much straighter than Craig does. If I played that angle, I'll leave lots of 8-10's, 5-8-10's, and similar combo's.
eh, im sure as good as he is and as deep as he can play, im sure hes been touching the ball return quite often in his career, its probably second nature for him
Nice clip...thanks. LeMond has a beautiful release, very similar to Sean Rash on the PBA tour. Very effective when you can execute it, but it ain't easy! He can create area that way that most bowlers can't
granted he threw some good shots but dam he should have shot a high 800 no matter what he did he struck he tugged the shit out of the balla couple times and it still held line
In Reno that year, there seemed to be a ton of push on some pairs. I happened to catch one and shot 704. Had my carry been a little better, I might've had a much bigger set! Still...700 at nationals is quite an achievement in my book!
Great video of such a talented bowler. The USBC (ABC's) nationals are no joke, the shot is without gimme and the carry is tricky at best. My congrats to a great set and great video.
this is amazing. this is craig LeMond he is the son of my boss Paul LeMond. I never would have thought i would get on youtube and be watching bowling videos and find someone i knew. Craig is an amazing bowler and thank you for this awesome video man. We can only stive to one day rival such a great bowler.
it is a little more than 3:1 ratio, so it is a a lot flatter pattern than a typical bowling center house shot. Also, he was not on fresh oil--there was a squad before his.
Wow. I start getting uncomfortable when I have to play 13th board on my OWN side.

That's great bowling. It's hard to be that silky smooth when you're forced to play that deep. Beautiful inside out release.

why do they play with spin...?
Echschmet 1 year ago
@Echschmet bowlers typically have a higher strike percentage hooking the ball.
ruralrenderer 1 year ago
@Echschmet It obviously works

That's a lot better than I could ever do. Plus I would never be able to play that deep, I don't have the power.
Great bowling!
