Maya Tutorial: Making Cables/Wires

My "cable" loops... from the end of the cv curve to the start of it once I use the extrude function and I have no clue how to make it not do it. Anyone?

How to make the cable is from 4:08 and onwards. Before that is basic curve drawing and creating a cyllinder. This could have been a lot shorter..

And a tip to anyone using this technique, make sure you only delete the faces on one side of the cyllinder like he says on 2:42, if you delete it on both sides it wont work.
