  • ...Whoa, he looks like Mister Rogers.

  • Wicked choreography going on there.

  • lmfao @ the back up dancers 0_o

  • Did the young people of today, 12/25/2011 forget how to fricking sing? This is one of the best songs by anyone, group, or label. Just pure singing. Man, I miss the day when all groups had talent, today it is all marketing.

  • @B52sguy The classics of previous time are cherry picked from what is mostly a vast wasteland of crap. The same is easily said about today's music. There are still some good songs made today, but most of it will not be remembered 50 years from now.

  • all I can say is... LOL at the dancer!

  • Absolutely Brilliant! Thanks for uploading it.

  • The way she dances, her figure, her bra bouncing up and down...damn!!

  • That brunette REALLY TURNS ME ON!!!!

  • Look at the groovy dancer in the background LOL

  • @1960sgirl1 I love those 60s go-go girls, even these tamer ones. I remember watching them back then,,... things were really poppin'...!

  • @deaddoc You boys are funny! Yep, we are pretty darn HOT back then! :) But not in a sleezy way like the young girls today throwing it OUT there all the time. I miss my youth :)

  • @1960sgirl1 I was 13 in 1965. I didn't miss it, you know. I also had three sisters, all into the latest dance crazes, AND of course, The Beatles. But there was a great deal of sexiness involved, miniskirts, etc. My older sister was on a committee selected from all the schools to greet the DC5 in 1965, and we were all at the first Rolling Stones tour. I later worked 14 years for the Haight Ashbury Free Medical Clinic. Treated performers... imagine that!

  • @deaddoc That is funny you say that.... I mean yes I wore mini skirts ... "hot pants"... never thought of it as Sexual... but I guess you boys did :)

  • @1960sgirl1 It is funny how so many "girls" don't see sexuality in how they might present themselves. I think they are more focused on themselves and just don't think of how they might be presenting to others. Hot Pants came in the 70s, but just the name ought to clue one in. And didn't you ever notice us boys dropping our pencils in class so we'd have a quick look? Most girls I think completely knew it and liked the attention - which is what it is all about.

  • Chicks really wore tight bras back then!

  • Wow that brunette in the background....Who knew grandma was so hot!

  • The girl 0:06 - 0:20 ! I' her fan! She's great! hahaha! :)

  • I really love the hot little girl at 0:09

  • The girl at 1:04 has the dance moves of Charlie Brown's friend Peppermint Patty .

  • wow I did'nt realize it when I was twelve and these guys came out with this song, how old they were in relation to other vocal groups of the times. they must have been in their early to mid 30"s. we wern't suppose to trust anyone over 30! lol.

  • @TheBabyboomkidof53 Actually it's just the lighting; they were high schoolers in the mid to late 50's so figure they were late 20's when they broke through, like the Four Seasons a few years earlier

  • @therealjoebloggs That's why they've got a little Doo Woop left in their updated set. It works though.

  • @TheBabyboomkidof53 Now that I think of it, months late and dollars short, go to the color video of Magic Town, if you haven't already done. You'll get a better idea of how they looked (mid/late 20ish).

  • @therealjoebloggs I watched magic town but they still appear much older then I would have thought. when you consider john lennon and ringo starr were only 23 in this time frame these guys at thirty-ish would have been born about 1935.more the age of elvis.not that it matters anymore but as a 12 year old in those days you'd think "these guys could be my uncles"lol

  • Great. Wish there could be a little better audio quality online of their beautiful "Turn Around, Look at Me" - best version I've ever heard of the song.

  • the little guy with the big pipes doing harmony really makes this song!

  • @icandoitdon01 you got that right. The talent is to the left of the lead singer

  • In addition to playing James Bond...Sean Connery was also the lead

    singer of the Vogues. :)

  • @JSTONE9352 What?

  • sweet song.. nuff said

  • Terrific song!!! Thanks Petula Clark for writing it. :-)

  • Great oldie! But the Vogues look like four Bell Lab engineers doing a little moonlighting!

BTW - There is now a wonderful website all about the Gazzarri Dancers.

  • Reminds me of my older sister

  • these guys look weird? Have you seen the lead singer for Red Hot Chili ? Everyone looks weird but nowadays long stringy hair covers a lot of funny faces.

  • The dancers just crack me up!

  • vraiment excellents ces petits pépères !

  • This gem was the Vogues' debut hit in 1965. Following that came FIVE O'CLOCK WORLD, MAGIC TOWN, LAND OF MILK AND HONEY, PLEASE MR. SUN, THAT'S THE TUNE, TURN AROUND LOOK AT ME, MY SPECIAL ANGEL, TILL, NO NOT MUCH, WOMAN HELPING MAN, EARTH ANGEL, MOMENTS TO REMEMBER and finally, in 1969, GREEN FIELDS. All of those were Billboard Hot 100 chart hits. My two faves: YOU'RE THE ONE and TURN AROUND LOOK AT ME. See also Pet Clark's great live version of this tune here on YouTube.

  • The audio SUCKS!!

  • Loved it! One of my favorite songs from back then, and I was probably emulating the Gazzari dancers while watching the show. Loved doing "The Jerk" with bell-bottoms and boots! Those were truly "the good ol' days"!

  • Great song, cute guys - even if those sweaters seems a little _wild_ for them! ;-)

  • Excellent lyrics, vocals and mood. Good for that time and good for today. Oh yeah, and the brunette, I'd hit that ........ wait ........... maybe I did .........

  • The epitome of a love song. No groaning, aching, moaning, sobbing...Just the JOY of love. A fav of mine...Now all I need is the LORD to bring the woman for me to sing it to who'll love me & love the song as much as I do! ;0) Thanks for great video AND sound quality. Most lack one or the other.

  • The one guy, 2nd from the right, can really belt out some great backing vocals. In fact, the entire group harmonizes superbly, and all without the advantage of computer enhancing equipment.

  • @terrafirma91 Yessss - great vocals and background vocals!! I heard this on the radio recently for the 1st time - hard to believe since it is so good!

  • All the dancers are gorgeous!

  • Love the song, never saw the group. They look like a group of engineers from Boeing or some such.

  • Totally cool in such a splendid, subtle and reserved way!

  • Top Notch Song!!!

  • They were also known as the Val-Aires in the late 50's and early 60's before they changed their name to the Vogues. Their early music is very good to. Great harmonies.

  • Actually there music was pretty dam good. Excellent vocals

  • I saw the same great concert in New Brunswick last night, and they were wonderful! I could not believe that only three guys could create the wonderful sounds and harmonies in their music!

  • Just saw them in a Rock and Roll Reunion event in New Brunswick last night. This song was number 3 on American Billboard for June of that year (I believe) Then, it slipped to number 4. The lead vocalist questioned the audience at the concert, "Guess whose songs were number 1 & 2?' (Obvious answer unless you were under a rock somewhere!) Then the audience cracked up when he said, "Damn those guys. I hated those guys!"

  • Nice song. These guys do look they just came off the set of the original "Star Trek," as those select, red-shirted casualties.

  • god do i ever love this

  • What is interesting about this song is that it was written by Petula Clark--a very, very talented person. She liked the Vogues version so decided not to release her own version in the USA. Actually, I think the Vogues version is the best.

  • Long gone before I was born, The Vogues are one of my favorite groups of all time! They should've been bigger than they were. Their harmonies and hooks are amazing!

  • That skinny singer second from the left OWNS this song. That backup part is awesome.

and the dark haired girl behind them has beautiful breasts........

  • @drrjim Yeah - great backup! The brunette makes my mouth water!!

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE THE VOGUES!!!!

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE THE VOGUES!!!!

  • Wonderful song.

  • absolutely wonderful song!!! Thanks for posting this!! :D

  • *love

  • enjoyed the b.o. dance.

  • Who has that high voice? So fun. I was sitting at my computer and for no reason this song popped into my head. I googled the words I remembed then came to youtube and found it.

    How fun is that.

    Loved it.

  • Could pull off a really flirty kiss with this song in the background!

  • Was this from the Jimmy Kilgo show - I loved the go-go dancers on that show!

  • Simply as good as it gets. They featured this song on one episode of "American Dreams". So good.

  • Would you believe Petula Clark (Downtown) wrote this song!

  • @jleoblues sounds like her songs

  • Ah! yes, back when music was truly music, people were repectable, life was good, and "Laugh-In" was on the drawing boards. One of the stronger songs of 1965, I think. When men were men, women were women, and ambiguity was a word not understood when it came to the sexes.

So very many good memories from then, until 1974. That's when the music really died.

Pretty much all the really good songs coincided with the space age; odd, don't you think?

  • cudowny kawałek !!!!!!

  • was it the Vogues that also did "land of milk and honey" ? It was written by my buddy and I have been trying to find a clip of them performing it. Or was it the beau brummels? No I think it was the vogues..im so confused

  • @dandamagetoo The Vogues #29 in 1966

  • @dandamagetoo they at least did their version, do a search on it, youtube isn't allowing a link

  • when Snooopy doggie doggie can do this...get back to me.

  • Comment removed

  • anyone know the chords?

  • Back in the day, the Vogues were appearing (live) and my buddy Frank decided to be the fifth "Vogue" by getting on stage with them (uninvited) and imitating their moves as they sang. I could not believe it but then Frank was like that.

  • This is a serious love song. The harmonies are amazing. Love this version best.

  • This is wonderful The 60's were and are the best.

    Thank you

    For the listing

  • FYI...... Did you know "You're the One" is a song introduced on the 1965 album I Know A Place by Petula Clark? Written by Clark with her regular songwriter/ producer Tony Hatch, "You're the One" was a Top 30 UK hit for Clark herself.

  • With the Great Glorious Gazzarri Dancers

  • I'll always believe you

    I'll never, ever deceive you...

  • The 60's Were GREAT...When This song Hit i was 15, Loved it Then, Love it Now. I just Wish I could have known what a DRAG the future would hold, Maybe I would have had a better time. Not that I didn't, But..........

  • Well, many of the groups at that particular point in time did all they could to look "respectable". Within a couple of years, they were all freaks like the rest of us!

  • My boyfriend dedicated to me... such sweet song!!! =D

  • this song was one that would make me reach for the volume control of the am radio of mom and dad's 64 Chev....... just a feel good song

  • I enjoyed the memories!

  • Hot babes dancing in the background and did you notice they have their cloths on. Unlike todays stuff

  • @60fatman Yup. Chessey then, cheesey and disgusting now. Funny how some things never really change much.

  • @pieguy1516 at least they used talent and not shock value to sell records.

  • @60fatman True enough. But like jody8526937 said, the shock value was always there. We've just become harder to shock. But, as for dancers, we've got some serious talent these days. Breakdancers train constantly to do some of their crazy tricks. Don't tell me that takes no talent.

  • who cares what women dancer are wearing? The kids in the sixties were criticized for wearing revealing clothes, taking drugs, listening to horrible music and generally being part of the decline of western civilization. Now they are somehow role models? The sixties teens were probably blamed for more society ills than any generation before or since and now I have to read how they were such great role models.

  • Ply the SOB Already!!!

  • Grew up in the 60s and to quote a tale of two cities, it was indeed the best of times it was the worst of times. Great song though

  • That's Right Gang...You're The One....Saw their cover band when I was working at the Brandywine Hotel and Resort...Managed by one of the original members. They were unbeleivable. This ones for you all

  • When you think about it, the Vogues had a bunch of great songs, but this one was my personal favorite. Those energetic backround dancers are probably on walkers and oxygen now, but I'm glad to see that the Vogues have endured into the 2000's, both live and on video. They played my area in the 1980's, but I didn't go to see them. Wishin' now that I had. Will Lady Gaga's career have that much longevity? We'll have to wait and see.

  • i wish i was born in the 1950's

  • @zaplinaki1992 - yes, while we didn't appreciate it at the time, being born in the 50's meant reaching the teen years in the middle 60's. It was GREAT! At least, with videos & cd's, everyone can join in the fun! My children, both born, in the 90's are honorary active 60's fans. Glad to have you join us. You may want to You Tube a Chicago Band called The Cryan' Shames - "Could Be We're In Love" and "Sugar & Spice." Peace & Love!

  • Love this song - those were the days.........

  • those girls dancing in the background are so hot..Love 60s babes..song isnt bad either..

  • Pure Americana!

  • Awesome song from an awesome group. The way the girls in the background are dancing kind of reminds me of how the Peanuts kids danced during "A Charlie Brown Christmas".

  • my fav all time

  • must have been about eleven when i bought

this single - adored the song.......lovely

to find it here. makes me feel so

    ANCIENT seeing these clips!!!

  • with the Gazzarri dancers....funny!

  • Wow what a GREAT song! Tremendously good harmony, rythmic music, great lyrics and incredibly powerful, strong note-carrying singers. Compare that to today's screeching, anti-social, drug debilitated, trashcan-lid banging "music" of today.

  • This song came out ten years before I was born, and I've always loved it every time I've heard it. These guys had class, and it's a great pop love song.

  • nothing like the oldies. Why can we have music like this anymore?

  • I couldn't agree more! I am embarrassed of the "music" that my generation has produced.

  • To all Petula Clark fans - sorry, this is the superior version of this song.

  • great rhythm, great singing, great stuff

  • I was 20 when this came out. Talk about the good old days. If only we'd known how good they really were

  • gooooood

  • Is it just me or are these old songs all great. Damm I love them. was all of 16 when this hit the charts.

  • I remember that they played this during one episode of the great NBC series, "American Dreams" and it really resonated. People think that this kind of music is corny, but I say it is great.

  • love this song !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sounds like a garage band backing these pretty guys. Quite a cool combination.

  • Those Gazzarri dancers were the best. And yes, I'm still in Love with the brunette. Oh, and the song is great too!

  • I'm still in love with the long haired blond. And yes it is a great song.

  • The lead singer looks a bit like Sean Connery in his James Bond days.

  • great!! u seems to have all l've been searching for a long time...l had this on cd, ripped from the limewire, but never knew who's the singer or the band...as many of your videos...now lm glad l finally can put a face and a name on it !! thx a lot!! too bad nowadays they put stupid ppl on tv, almost naked, with no talent at all, with a stupid song and boring and obscene lyrics that will be forgotten in less than 7 months. sad but true,

  • Ha, I love The Vogue's look, it's one that says "cross us, and we'll seriously fuck u up"

  • Love those 60's "Snow Cone" Bra's! lol

  • Love this song! And I love actually putting faces to the group that I hear on the oldies station frequently.

I enjoy how the backup dancers are decently clad, not wearing next to nothing like today's backup dancers. And even though they're modest, they still are gorgeous. This should be a lesson to the recoding indusry--put the women in a real outfit, and she'll stop being a sex object. Then we can appreciate the music instead of the mostlly naked chicks.

  • @deusregnat....I was alive then and the studio caught a lot of flack from the Christian front for promoting promiscuity, based on the back up dancers.

  • maravillosa,obra maestra

  • Saw the Vogues in Cleveland, OH in April, 1966. It was my first pop concert experience. One of the members couldn't make it, but they still performed admirably!

They opened for Peter & Gordon, who were just starting to be "big" at that time...RIP Gordon...

  • Every morning I leap out of bed naked and proceed to dance for a least a half hour just the girls in the backgrond .

Seriously, I always liked this tune which has a twin-lead vocal style, rare for 1965 and now. A great early R&R power vocal. Thank you Vogues for this song and thanks for the post, Gere

  • As to the person who was paying more attention to the dancers than the singers...at least these girls are fully dressed unlike today's "stars" who appear with their private parts barely covered. As for The guys, the wonderful harmonies of The Vogues are a source of constant comfort. They're dressed respectably also. Today's popsters could learn a lesson from them. Anyway, great song. Peace & Love to ALL in 2010 & Beyond!

  • great song

  • I see your point and agree, by and large, but take a look at this one of the entries under Josephine Baker or "Wild and Jazzy Dance" from even earlier. I believe that one of the euphemisms was "sophisticated".

All to say that it was not a uniform evolution from tasteful to basically unclad.

  • @mjcamck71 I'm with you. I thought the dancers were the show. Still it is a good song. Man what a long time ago this was. But what great memories.

  • @mjcamck71 They're dressed respectfully, but they look so damn cool as well!

  • @ClemleTangerine - I agree - they do look cool. Goes to show entertainers can be worth watching even when fully clothed. Using sets, props & back-up dancers added to the high quality of the old shows. Thank you for responding to my note. Peace & Love, Bread & Justice for ALL.

  • @mjcamck71 Haha, yeah I know, for one thing, the mainstream music today is so crap, have barely dressed dancers with suggestive moves just adds to the sickness of it. Mainstream is crap, mod is just plain awesome.

  • @ClemleTangerine - so right you are. I make sure my teens see these videos; they are both 2nd generation 60's music fans. Mod Forever! Peace & Love.

  • @mjcamck71 I love your teens haha. I'm all for it! :)

  • @mjcamck71 sok tau lo anjing

  • @9crame - Hello. Sorry, but I speak only English and some French. Translation please?

  • @mjcamck71 you think that's something, check out dee dee sharp - mashed potato time. same show, same dancers.

  • @irvingklaw57 - Hello. Thank you for the suggestion. I did watch the clip of the talented DeeDee Sharpe rock the place. Peace to ALL.

  • @mjcamck71 you ever seen the TAMI show during Chuck Berry's performance!? bouncy bouncy

  • @mjcamck71 Yes the go-go dancers were super adorable!! Great song and vocals from the Vogues!!

  • Three of the orginial Vogues are still performing keeping these great songs alive. Bill Burkette and Hugh Geyer tour the USA with the "trademark" Vogues, and Chuck Blasko has his own group that performs in Western Pennsylvania (only) as Chuck Blasko and The Vogues.

  • I love to play this video to be reminded of days when society was more civilized, had some real values and entertainers properly produced performances. The Vogues are sooo comforting, easy both the eyes and ears. Thanks, guys! Best Wishes in 2010.

  • love all the bouncing boobs in the background!

  • The vougues were an underrated vocal group, sure they didn't write their own tunes, but their singing is fantastic!

  • wow they sounded really good live. cant say that very often

  • Hate you say this but they were lip-syncing to the record. They just made it look good.

  • true peaked at same position

  • I live about 3 miles from Turtle Creek, Pa. These guys are still hometown legends here in Pittsburgh!

  • They came out of Pittsburgh, never knew that! How I loved this and 5 o clock world!!

  • One of the few successful pop groups to come out of Pittsburgh.

  • One of my favorite songs of all time. What a great top-down driving song!

  • great song

  • What a great song. Great singing. Innocent times......

The girl on the left behind them has nice breasts too. God bless her.

  • sooo beautiful,kisses to the 60s

  • Met these guys many times and they still rule-Bill not singing with them anymore but they still put on a good show.

  • Not sure what world you're from but Bill has been singing with The Vogues again for almost 2 years, and Hugh has been back for over 2 years, Maybe you're thinking of the Pittsburgh group, not the trademark group that tours all over the USA.

  • 260-Read the comment before you talk-First I never mentioned I saw the Vogues within the past 2 years and second the original Vogues are from Turtle Creek,PA--Knucklehead

  • First of all , you shouldn't call some one youdon't know a knucklehead. Secondly, I failed mind reading in school, so how was I to know when you last saw The Vogues. I know exactly where they are from, and probably know more about the history of The Vogues (past and present) than you could ever image.

  • You comment can not be construed any other way oher than you are saying that Bill is no longer singing with them - you used all present tense verbage. I don't care one way or the other but anyone who read your comment would think the same thing...

  • Wish I could sing like any of these guys...

  • back in these days, girls knew how to dance.

  • the dancing chicks are better than the song

  • Your just jealous of the dudes hair style. lol

  • Love the dancers, but not as much as the song.

Wish the volume were a little louder.

  • this song is a gem..... i wish more music were like this

  • @BrockHardwell Indeed a gem. Few American groups at the time could equal or better the snap and poli
