  • What is the narrators voice I have heard him so many times before I think he had a radio show.

  • Time to go for a walk.

  • love listening to Quantic while snowboarding. <3 this song

  • you spelled "seems" wrong

  • This song is crazy awesome! Does anyone know of a way I can download this whole album? Much appreciated.

  • @Kyle1023yoshi $5 at Amazon, $10 on iTunes.

  • This is probly a stupid question but song titles aren't copy right are they? as long as it doesnt sound like the song?

  • @TheCinisterSorrow actually i don't know. If you want to upload a video with the title "Life in the rain" it should be fine.

  • @TheCinisterSorrow Song titles aren't copy right, it would impossible....think of how many songs are called 'Love' for instance, band/artist names are though

  • @TheCinisterSorrow Found this out maybe a month ago - you can't copyright song titles.

  • @TheCinisterSorrow Unless its a brand name I think its ok. There are two types of licenses too. One for the artist performance and one for the song and melody. So doing a cover of something is cheaper to pay the copyright fee. That's why movies and games will redo songs sometimes.

  • does anyone know where the original sample was taken from?

  • Sharing, what a experience!

    Thanks !

  • just found this song. i'm late for work.

i need to listen to this at least for another hour.

so.. life is about choices i guess. CAN'T RESIST!!

  • the guy talking reminds my of the theme song for the movie "american beauty", i think its the same dude

  • this goes in my dance mix list :)

  • chills!

  • seams :)

  • ohh shit this is dope.

  • What genre is this music?

  • @Gwahyyr trip hop, downtempo, chillout choose something ;)

  • @VultureCulture2000X all in one ;p

  • @Gwahyyr Good music has no genre

  • @ayoitsmeeeh that is wrong as every music has a genre of some sort, whether it be mixed or specific. Music without genre is not music atall.

  • @Gwahyyr Acid jazz??

  • @KT319 united groove

  • @Gwahyyr That, sir, is an excellent question. I'm always chasing down music like this. There are a lot of terms that get used, and it's hard to specifically say it's "this", "this" and "that", but some words you will see thrown around are trip hop, nu-jazz, electro-jazz, future jazz, downtempo, cinematic, chillout... I am sure there are many more.

  • @Gwahyyr nu jazz

  • Woooo The Collective...I love mtb movies, they always have awesome music that isnt main stream. I hate main stream crap

  • Thx vultureculture....I adore this music to no end!

    '

  • The collective mtb movie anyone? makes me wanna buy a mtb again.

  • MASTERPIECE! hypnotic beat, sick bass, and I cant stop moving my feet, wanna dance... I REALLY DONT KNOW WHERE ITS TAKING ME

  • Bboy Byu!! ^__^

  • TO EVERY ONE OUT HERE tryng to know what musical genre this song belongs to, i tell you this is pure and only Trip Hop.

  • WARNING: Prolonged exposure to this track may cause severe vertebrae damage from excessive 'head nodding'. Thus so, YouTube and the channel administrator, are not responsible for any bodily harm caused. Thank you.

  • this is insanely awesome

  • phenomenal.

  • Do you know where you're going to, do you like the things that life is showing you,....when you look behind you theres no open door, what are you hoping for?....do you know?

  • where the award for best instrumental artist 4 this guy?

  • thumbs up if you came here from the bboy byu tutorial!

  • @mpforeverunlimited

could you send me a link to the bboy byu tutorial via pm?

  • Fucking incredible.

  • this is really amazing music ! I have discovered this while listening to Martina Topley Bird and this popped out.

It is chill electro ambiental...what is the real genre of this ?

  • @MARREORO I would define it as "Chillout", a genre founded by Simon Green (Bonobo) who is a friend of Will Holland

  • @VultureCulture2000X "Chillout" is almost correct but downtempo or trip hop is more precise. Founded by Bonobo? Sorry mate, but Nightmares On Wax, Kruder and Dorfmeister, Anything on Mo Wax, Ninja Tune, Pussyfoot, etc predate Tru Thoughts. But thank you very much for the upload! Always good to hear a classic!

  • @MARREORO Downtempo?

  • oh boy.... this is beautiful

  • this guy cares more about quality than quantity i think

  • dats jazzy great drop

  • merci

  • Remarkable.

  • jeez. it's so smooth I'm not sure wether I'm listening to or sniffing at it.

  • Classsssssssssssssic! Remember this playing years ago on one of the Streemate episode's with Davina Mccall. Wow, how time flies!

  • thiis is definitely becoming one of my favourite songs that i'll probably listen to for the rest of my life

  • Ha ha the line "Where it is taking me" is also used in a track by Coco Steel and Lovebomb called "Yachts"

  • great rythm great sound...

  • oh my , i love this beat, what a nice drum.

  • I love it

  • the person speaking played captain peacock in are you being served on British TV in the 70`s, after the show ended he started experimenting with psychoactive drugs and found himself in a commune in Goa laying down samples for funky mothers. I love you all. xxx

  • PS - Sometimes I wonder - Sometimes I'm wondering?

    seems - seams?

lol...sorry just pointing that out you know... ;-)

  • @Stevieboy74

yeah sorry for the bad spelling, a great problem i have with language ;)

    thanks for your comment

  • @VultureCulture2000X - hey dude ignore me I was just being silly....thanks for the upload, it's still a great track, even 10 years after it's 2001 release

  • @VultureCulture2000X

Hi VultureCulture2000X, a better discription might be "like a pimp says to his ho's, keep them coming!"

  • @Stevieboy74 who gives a shit?

  • @jollibee007 - I already said to the guy that I was joking and to ignore me because I was just being silly, and then thanked him for the upload. Relax and read all the comments maybe? Cheers

  • This track is pretty old now, got a promo of it when it was first released. Will Holland is a very talented man. He's kinda moved on now to other productions and does a lot of stuff as the Quantic Soul Orchestra and produces some excellent stuff

  • Right on....

  • does anybody know to whom the speaking voice belongs? is it possibly a sample from an actor?

  • @sillenium

possible. A lot voices from actors are taken into music pieces to create a certain atmosphere. for example the voice in UNKELs "Rabbit in your Headlights" is from fight-club

  • @VultureCulture2000X

I've always though it sounds like Laurence Fishburne.

  • i'm confused. bonobo has quantic tracks and thievery corporation and bonobo have the same songs with different names. WHAT IS UP???

  • @Bayplaces They are all just musical friends, Bonobo shares even more work with Amon Tobin. It's just a musical tennis game they play where they're inspired by their buddies' song and they put their spin on them. It's a pretty cool thing they got going on, good way to discover new music

  • @theDan3391 It all works out :)

I really do enjoy the new Amon Tobin works

  • greets from Mühlviertel to all the people who Loves good Musik.

    Have a Nice Day `´

  • greetings from Brazil !

  • Wonderful tune, meditative, brilliant, skillful, evocative

  • THANK YOU VULTURE CULTURE, i placed this track in 3 of my playlists , it just contains the juice in evey single groovy funky way.

  • @euphoritch

    no, thank YOU for listening.

  • @VultureCulture2000X your channel is an important one for me to enjoy music , you own some realy nice stuff ..........you understand the reason of youtube man!!!!

  • @euphoritch It really is a juicy-ass song isn't it?

  • This sounds like BOC song, I love it.

  • Such a kickin' tune!

  • reminds me of dj shadow, another up from the states

  • @funnyman117 i know him, a great artist. I'm listening to his "Private Press" and "Endtroducing" at the moment.

  • yeahha i would've bought Quantic but sadly my local shops don't EVER carry them

    DOWN loads

  • @Bayplaces You can get the records from Amazon.uk by shipment. At least in Europe it's possible

  • @VultureCulture2000X yeah but i probably won't

  • Bboy b.yu tutorial ^^

  • anyone know where the spoken word sample at the end comes from?

  • wes montgomery kind of jazz solo

  • "Sometimes, I think I'm getting closer... yes, I'm getting closer... yeah, the sound is getting louder".... best quantic's track ever!!!

  • Beat kicked my ass

  • i think Kruder and Dofrmeister covered this song

  • @OrganicGreen157

possible. Kruder & Dorfmeister cover a lot of songs. Because there are in the nearly same genre, they defenitly heard of Quantic

  • @VultureCulture2000X Richard Dorfmeister called "5th Exotic" one of the best albums he heard in a long time-

  • THE COLLECTIVE !!!! ^^

  • Yeah, massive positive vibrations

  • cool man Quantic ....sound to the next level!

  • beautiful

  • just the best tune i have heard. wanna float off and meditate in this music

  • I freakin' love all the incarnations of Quantic!

  • I LOVE IT !!!!!!

  • Vulture can you suggest some simular artists? more underground i mean, i know of saint, massive, dzihan, K&D...so on , i want to find some unique sounds!

  • @TheSpaceKoala

did you check out portishead? realy nice group too but they are more in the trip-hop genre. You defenitly should check out Bonobo and if you like more violent tunes give UNKLE a try.

  • @TheSpaceKoala Check out Pretty Lights.... They're funk/electronic/hip-hop...

  • @TheSpaceKoala bonobo, Mulatu Astatqe, Mark Farina, Reverie Sound Revue (you might like if you like this), some of DJ shadow has this sound. there are too many to name

  • @TheSpaceKoala there are none to be honest

  • @TheSpaceKoala u guys shud check out mr.scruff, chris joss, the visioneers, bonobo, and all those...soo good

  • @TheSpaceKoala

Try Blockhead or Dadamnphreaknoizephunk. Or Mr Scruff.

  • @TheSpaceKoala

John Kennedy, Flanger, Bonobo, Hexstatic, Coldcut, Four Tet, Zero 7, Waldeck, Shantel, Unkle (maybe), Mr Scruff, Gare du Nord, Karma, Urban Myth Club, Flevans, Hint, Adult Swim, Prefuse 73, Apparat, Moderat, Parov Stellar, Archive ( someTracks and remixes ), Red Snapper, Deadbeats, Benji Boko and some more :D

  • this...is....the....shit.

  • a bad guy dies when i play this

  • soothing haha :]

  • where can i download this music at?

  • @marktheshizark

i don't know any source to download it. To support Quantic you should buy the album instead.

  • @VultureCulture2000X if you could only buy one of their albums which one?

  • @fucksake893 i think i'd buy teh 5th exotic. the other albums are good but still not as good as the 5th exotic. The main reason for me to buy this album is because there is the track called "time is the enemy" which is haven't uploaded yet, which is my most favourite track by Quantic by far, on the album

  • @VultureCulture2000X thanks. time is the enemy was the first song i ever heard by quatic. im off too listen to it now

  • @marktheshizark

    keepvid.com

  • @marktheshizark

    keepvid.com

  • @marktheshizark

    keepvid dot com

  • this song is fantastic, which album do you guys recommend?

  • @taityfella

You'll have to choose. "Apricot Morning" and "Mishaps Happening" are much more latin than "the 5th Exotic" and "An Announcement to answer"

If you like stuff like Bonobo you shuld check out Apricot and Mishaps, if you are more into the Hip-Hop Genre you should check out Announcement.

  • it's almost like the doors meets jazz/hip-hop with a hint of the prodigy, just a hint. lol

  • nice.

  • i love this beat

  • very very nice

  • seriously? someone get this guy a fucking award because he deserves it.

  • i total agree with you

  • Great track :]

  • defintely diggin it..... it's silky sick!

  • i don't like the colors of the cover at all. i wish it was better. really disturbs me. but the tune is total perfect

  • fuck you the cover is dope

  • @j4m4la did u design it? :)) donno, day by day it brings my mind some muddy feel. Sewage mud. I'd rather have some kind of out of the city feel. I feel myself real trapped in the city.

at least we agree about the song i guess :)

  • @thatswhereyoubelong yeah my reaction wasnt serious.... but yeah the song is cool

  • Comment removed

  • sorry but this is ilegal you know.

  • some things are worth paying for :P

  • Also I'm not particularly sure where the recording is from, but I googled the first line and it took me to a page with precisely the lyrics to this song, and it seems like a poem more than anything. Could have been an audio book recording or something? I'm just not sure.

  • Feels more like down tempo to me, not particularly Trip Hop, which is like a sub genre of Down Tempo I guess; but that tends to be more psychedelic.

This is DEFINITELY a great song though. I'll definitely be looking in to this.

  • very very nice....

  • Breakbeats or Trip hop .........I guess.

  • Who really cares what genre it is anyway? Just a great tune.

  • this is my new jam

  • Wow, I've never listen to this genre of music before. Its is very nice

  • Come on clones and wannabe hipsters. Quantic is acid jazz fused with trip hop.

  • Comment removed

  • Does anyone know the origin of that voice sample? I love it. When I first listened to this song, the part with 'sometimes I feel as if I'm getting closer', and then the keyboard joining in, really blew me away.

    Bass solo is awesome too.

  • bboy byu sent me lol

  • nothin wrong with tryin to classify music, thx for answering

  • because I really like it and i want to find related artists in the genre ; )

  • what music genre does this fall under?

  • i think "minimal"

  • "You're asking the wrong person really, but some stuff is hip-hop-orientated, some stuff is at house tempo, but not necessarily 'house' music, some of it has a strong Latin influence, some of it has a strong African influence, and some of it is just a mix-up of loads of styles." William Holland (a.k.a Quantic)

  • @1111BLAKE1111 but I would call this like minimalistic prog with funk and jazz or sumething? Too hard to classify. Now my question to you, why do you want to know, why does it matter?

  • 0:46 should be spelled seems not seams, just pointing out

  • brilliant track, thanks for the upload.

I love the dreamy monologue, it really fits. That bass solo is cookin' too.

  • fu fu fuuu auuuuu fu fu

  • I can identify ......with this. THankx Vultureculture.....

  • either this is slower than the track I have on I-tunes or my track is just faster

  • yeah, some people told me, that all my Quantic Uploads are a bit slower than the original. However, this video is intended to be an example how awesome the track is

  • And awsome, It is! :)

    thanks for the upload

  • I love this. I love this.

  • For those who haven't yet found out, play this track through some decent speakers. When the bass kicks in at 1.23, heads will start nodding...........!

  • you know... not a lot of quantics other stuff speaks to me. but i like this one.

  • well ive randomly found this group,, and ive gotta say its fantastic..

after ive topped off my list of albums i need to get, 5th exotic will be next.

  • It's worth every cent, i can tell ya

  • @Faragnigskni It is apparently not a group, it is one guy. :)

  • wow
