  • This album kind of makes me hungry.. Just saying.

  • HAIL DIMMU BORGIR FROM NORWAY!!!!

  • @Pufahlski People get older...You can't expect them to do the same, highly expressive and youthfully fresh style all the time. They're just people.

  • I see "this" Dimmu Borgir and "new" Dimmu Borgir as two different bands, maybe that's why I don't get "chocked" with every new stuff they release... they are different bands with different styles and I personally like them "both".

This olden stuffs of course have such a goddamn magical effect that seems transport us to some high and freezing Norwegian Fijord, with a golden sunset ahead and darkened forests below as in strange nostalgic olden times...

    ...EPIC in other words!

  • old stuff

  • sick as fuck

  • You clearly hear someone laugh in the end.

  • Bak en busk sitter fortsatt hmm...og venter.

  • jahaciel no jugara nunca mas...

  • @Pufahlski Katatonia, Opeth, Anathema, The Gathering, Cradle Of Filth... tons of them lol, but wait... they say they have "evoluted" LOL

  • I miss their old stuff... It was true black metal

  • masterpiece of music!

  • Men kanskje bak en stien eller bak en gammel busk sitter fortsatt.....hmm!!!! Og venter?

  • For me it doesn't matter if band is or modifies later to much more commercial if it still sounds good. But of course any change is bad if the music itself doesn't sound good anymore.

  • Good song, but dimmu sounded best in death cult armageddon. i dont like their new album.

  • Well, if you like this old stuff, then you shall listen to this. If you like the new stuff, listen to that. But if you like both, listen to both! Simple :D

  • @XanaX93 well said, i like most of dimmus work all the way through their discography.

  • The voice is Sagrath or Silenoz?

  • @LeandroFantomas Silenoz, Shagrath was the drummer on the album (except Glittertind)

  • i like every single album from dimmu, but for all tid and stormblast are the best albums from them without a doubt, some of the greatest black metal albums ever

  • i think dimmu borgir is the ONLY band/group/artist where there ISNT a song i dont like !__!

  • @timmywimmy777 - Proganies of a gay apocalypse = most annoy est song eva!

  • i love the vocals from this album!

  • they couldve at least kept this logo on their more recent albums

  • @Pufahlski also Cryptopsy

  • THESE is Dimmu Borgir.

  • anybody know who that is laughing at 1:59? its not on my copy of the cd.

  • Hell yeah. Depressing having a "metalhead" think that new Dimmu Borgir is good.

They're like, generic pop metal now. It's fucking awful.

  • QueerJay who made you the almighty opinion ... You don't have a cd.. you don't have fan base.. and hell you ain't even got pubic hair...

    go back to hick ville

  • haha SERIOUSLY?

are you ever gonna get a life kid? Or is the climax of your life getting home and coming up with a way to refute me on youtube?

  • hey QueerJay... you still suck hairy balls...

  • I haven't really been bothered to listen to Dimmu Borgir because they seemed to be quite popular in the Genre, and I usually stick away from popular Bands now because of the posers it attracts... But I'm wondering, what did they turn into?

I heard they were Melodic Black Metal (early) and Symphonic Black Metal (later).

  • This, my friends, was before Dimmu Borgir sucked.

It's depressing to see how a band with such potential fail so hardly. Their new stuff is just so awful compared to the masterpieces that are For All Tid and Stormblaast.

  • @QJ573

Dimmu doesn´t suck now they just changed genre they are still awesome

  • I agree, They evolved backwards to cheap heavy-metalish sound. They have become kind of cheesy...i only own For All Tid and Stormblast and i'm happy about that.

  • @Samael16661 I dunno, this is pretty cheesy as well, but in the best way possible.

  • @Plaswuff I agree. It's a year ago i wrote that comment and my views have changed from that "zomg so kvlt and tr00 fystfvkking blackmetal" view to just regard it as some form of music. it's just stuff from the past now and it is indeed cheesy in the best way possible...

  • @QJ573 i agree. after Enthrone and especially after Misanthropia, Dimmu were shit. In Sorte Diaboli sucked!

  • what evolution! this thing sounds totally different what dimmu is indeed.

  • i dont get why people enjoy music with bad quality. sure this is a great song, but if it was produced the same way dimmu's new stuff is, then it would sound so much better

  • @danthemainman01 No it would sound worse. The atmosphere is key.

  • thats great. dimmu was really good long time ago. i don´t like the new stuff

  • The problem with Dimmu isn't their style, heck symphonic black metal is great. The problem is their music is too much studio processed. Their old material was raw and less processed, thats why it's so good. Listen to Dimmu now live, and notice that they sound better without the studio processing, their live stuff sounds better than their recorded stuff.

  • Well Dimmu is releasing an album in 2010, and Shagrath said it was going to be a lot different than what they've currently doing. Maybe that means that they're reverting back to the kick-ass stuff like For All Tid and Stormblast?

  • that's what I've been hoping for.

  • oh man that would be so great! I hope so!

  • @HereticMocculta Lol... how wrong you both were. The new album is terrible. "Gateways"!!!

  • @LEG0B0Y

Even if they went back to their third album's sound it would be good.

  • @LEG0B0Y the album is called abrahadabra, and the single is already out.

    just search dimmu borgir gateways

  • @xSJDxx Yes, I've heard Gateways, and even have a review for it up on spirit-of-metal(.)com...

I think it sucks. What do you think of it?

  • @LEG0B0Y i think people who hate it are too close-minded.

sure, dimmu has changed, but if they stayed the exact same for 17 years then what would be the point? it would be boring.

they have grown, because a little more popular, and have great producers and orchestras now. and if you don't like it, don't listen. it's not like their old albums will dissappear. :l

  • @xSJDxx That depends on someone's reason for hating it. It doesn't bother me that Dimmu has changed. I just don't like their music anymore. Look at Empyrium and Carcass... they changed a lot but I always liked them. I'm not saying they sold out, I'm not saying they should play exactly how they used to... I'm just saying they can't write good music, in my opinion.

  • @LEG0B0Y turned out to be nothing like this :/ i really hope they realize how ridicule they are becoming by appealing for a much larger audience. They are getting away from black-metal further more year by year. Last great album was in 1997, that was 13 years ago. Come on Dimmu! What the fuck?! We want you back!

  • @ziribai Well, at this point it's clear Dimmu aren't trying to be black metal... but that doesn't mean Abrahadabra wasn't over the top and ridiculous, which it was. I think it's safer to look for new bands. Try Weakling on for size.

  • @LEG0B0Y its awesome

  • @Billymarkz What, you mean Abrahadabra is awesome?

I'll have to disagree with you on that one... I did a review for it on Spirit of Metal and I gave it a 35% rating out of 100.

  • @LEG0B0Y lul, didn't happen

  • @LEG0B0Y Well that was obviously a lie, too bad :\

  • @LEG0B0Y sadly that decade is long gone broderskap!!!!

  • @LEG0B0Y wrong its the worst album haha

  • @LEG0B0Y

haha and one year after you wrote that comment abrhadabra has been released. what do you think about it? OBVIOUSLY its absolutely nothing like these first classics, but hell its like a movie score with dimmus style. idk, i dig it :P

  • @80smetalchild Honestly, I think Abrahadabra sucks. Not as bad as ISD, but the orchestra/choir was louder than the rest of the band. The riffs for the most part were redundant chugging, except for the occassional solo-ey riff, and the atmosphere was confused between an electronic and a theatrical sound, making the whole album sound too busy and aimless. Didn't like it. :)

  • @LEG0B0Y its sad that dimmu let us all down

  • @LEG0B0Y unfortunately NO, they went to shit

  • I like old school Dimmu : )

the new album is NaziBlackmetal is fuc...ed

eu odeio metal nazista de mer....da

  • nah they had a similar style since stormblast, this is way different of course, put they have a the symphonic elements since early in their career

  • Dimmu Borgir should have stopped producing after this album. man, this album is amazing... they were so true, and then... nuclear blast got a hold of them

  • pan flute

  • I like For All Tid.

  • This is how Dimmu should sound.

I like their new material too, but this is just much better.

  • wow they lost their style after a time... this was cool, but now they're only commercial and not that good...

  • Yeah. I wish they would presume themselves dead and go back into the underground community under a new name and revert to their old sound.

  • I agree as well, Old Dimmu Borgir >>>> New Dimmu Borgir. They would definitely be a lot better if they abandoned their entire scheme, sank back into the underground, and chose a new name and new similar material to that of For All Tid and Stormblast.

  • stormblast is way dif than this

  • It's a lot more similar than any of their other stuff is though.

  • it was like a bridge. . . i like both,

  • I agree. Both are great, and a lot better (imo) than any of there other stuff by a long shot. While Stormblast was more symphonic it was indeed as you put it "a bridge" between their first and later albums and still contained elements from For All Tid.

  • true but i like all of em, i sont care if im not tr00!!1!

  • Haha that's ok, you don't have to be "true" black metal. It just how I prefer to be when it comes to the genre.

  • cool, i hate the metal nazi who kill you if you like death cult

  • @PetieFr I agree, even though i really like some of their song.

I'm just listenning for this album for the first time, and... yes good!

  • @PetieFr I wouldn't say that they've lost their style. They're still Black Metal, but as the years go on, new technology and new ideas come around. I got into Dimmu Borgir through their latest album Abrahadabra and i've just got Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia today. So i'm listening to their early stuff for the first time. This album would have come in the first wave of Norwegian Black Metal, whereas their later stuff is the second wave.
