Been playing PS2 for 5 yrs,cause i have responsibility.(know how it is) Now im focused on getting this 160 gig i been hearing about.So to a "noob" as you experts say,are the graphics better on a 160gig,and how does it work without internet,and where can i get a dust protector? My 60gig ps3 broke down about two months ago due to overheating and I bought it used and had it for over three years and its been great but now I need to buy the slim so my games and blu-rays won't go to waste. I still have ps2 games but they're not as great as the ps3 games so I don't see why backwards compatibility should be a problem for new users unless you have a lot of them, overall if you want a ps3, get one there's nothing on it that disappointed me in those three years.

@nurucampspsn I've always felt the Xbox, other than for competition, is a completely pointless system. Move their exclusive games to the PS3, and i would never think of the Xbox ever again.
@nurucampspsn I thikn the Wii isn't something they really have to worry about. I see it as more of a system for kids and family time than the Xbox and Ps3. Although with the addition of the Kinect and the Move for Xbox and PS3, they are certainly moving in the same direction as the Wii and adding more competition for it.

@MultiPriceless Are you giving your opinion on the PS3 or the Move? You can't base your opinion of the system as a whole based on a peripheral device. Motion control is a fad anyway. It's great for casual Wii gamers, but not Xbox and PS gamers.

My PS3 got the YLOD awhile back, I got the slim, no problems at all and I'm an active member on the PSN forums, I've never in my 4 years of being there seen a YLOD slim post (yet)...
@21iunie the old PS3 80gb version can play ps2 games but the 80gb/160gb currently manufactured can't though. I already have the ps2 and I'd rather buy the ps3 slim for its cheaper price than the fat one. I guess it's just based on personal opinion and situation.

But this one at 100% less price point, actually about 65% from my original console, which still isnt too bad, it certainly cost less then my original PS2 back in the day.
Games are great, smaller is better especially when it comes to heating up issues.

Tdrumming-I have a xbox slim and elite and a ps3 slim I honestly choose xbox live and the games over the ps3 and the failure rate for the xbox has gotten better where there's not much rrods but the slim xbox cost the same as the elite so in my opinion go with xbox ps3 is too complicated for me!

I used to play my roommate's (4 years together) xbox 360, but now we are done with undergrad and don't live in the same place anymore. So I gave him all the games that I bought for the 360, which he gave to his younger brother. I enjoyed xbox 360, but I think my next game console will be ps3 slim because I want to use it as a blu-ray player, along with ocasional gaming (getting too old to play games all the time). If xbox 360 had blu ray player, I would definitely go for that.
i left my slim on for 14 hours and it still runs fine no issues i feel asleep watching a movie and i woke up 14 hours later and it was still almost cold, awesome console when i bought mine all my mates went out and bought them as well =D although my friend is trying to get me to buy a 360 slim -_- not sure if i should or not
@downsideup100 Piano black looks nice but it's impossible to keep it dust and finger print free, also the finish can scratch very easily which is a nightmare no matter how well you look after it. I personnaly prefer the look of the slim it looks very neat and tidy and the matt black finish is a bonus cos finger prints are no problem and dust is'nt noticeable. As for the backwards compatability personally I have a PS2 slim so I don't care about it lacking on the PS3 slim. Just get a PS2 cheap.

@MURK999 ok i respect your opinion but i want 2 point out some stuff. 1) they fixed this proplem by making chargers so thats not a proplem any more. xbox has good exclusives 2) like halo left 4 dead gears of war and stuff like that but i got 2 admit i love sonys exclusives a little bit more 3) online is free but it sucks its godd but not as goodas xbox live thats why they got hacked 4 a month 4) i can see bluray on comter 5) they made that alot smaller with xbox slim f u ownd xbox ud lik more

@21iunie the old PS3 80gb version can play ps2 games but the 80gb/160gb currently manufactured can't though. I already have the ps2 and I'd rather buy the ps3 slim for its cheaper price than the fat one. I guess it's just based on personal opinion and situation.

mines arriving tommorow, after my original one melted, and really was beyond repair, it was beyond the ylod stage.
But this one at 100% less price point, actually about 65% from my original console, which still isnt too bad, it certainly cost less then my original PS2 back in the day.
Games are great, smaller is better especially when it comes to heating up issues.
And the reason as i need to explain it, i have about £275 worth of PS3 games on my shelf, so why buy a Xbox at this stage

Tdrumming-I have a xbox slim and elite and a ps3 slim I honestly choose xbox live and the games over the ps3 and the failure rate for the xbox has gotten better where there's not much rrods but the slim xbox cost the same as the elite so in my opinion go with xbox ps3 is too complicated for me!

I used to play my roommate's (4 years together) xbox 360, but now we are done with undergrad and don't live in the same place anymore. So I gave him all the games that I bought for the 360, which he gave to his younger brother. I enjoyed xbox 360, but I think my next game console will be ps3 slim because I want to use it as a blu-ray player, along with ocasional gaming (getting too old to play games all the time). If xbox 360 had blu ray player, I would definitely go for that.

i left my slim on for 14 hours and it still runs fine no issues i feel asleep watching a movie and i woke up 14 hours later and it was still almost cold, awesome console when i bought mine all my mates went out and bought them as well =D although my friend is trying to get me to buy a 360 slim -_- not sure if i should or not

@downsideup100 Piano black looks nice but it's impossible to keep it dust and finger print free, also the finish can scratch very easily which is a nightmare no matter how well you look after it. I personnaly prefer the look of the slim it looks very neat and tidy and the matt black finish is a bonus cos finger prints are no problem and dust is'nt noticeable. As for the backwards compatability personally I have a PS2 slim so I don't care about it lacking on the PS3 slim. Just get a PS2 cheap.
