I picked this song up today, from a charity shop for a quid. It's a 4 track CD single, the other songs are "Hole in the ground", "Velvet Room", and "Tinted Rose".
maybe there's some sound engineers in here? How hell can I get such a great delay for vocal? What type of delay is it? I really wanna get such kind of effect on my vocal.. please somebody =/
It's NOT the Lennon/McCartney song recorded by the early Beatles. They only borrowed the title, but the song is an original by the Overtures, though highly influenced by the '64-'65 (For Sale-era) Beatles. Great song, great sound. Can't seem to find more originals by the Overtures, but if they had an album, I'd surely buy it.
Dennis Pugsley, their lead singer/ bassist wrote this song and many other originals alone and with other bands including the bands: The Pencils and , The Green.In 1994 Den wrote 2 songs for Merlin's Beatles video ('Behind The Beat', 'In Spite Of All The Danger') and has a song featured in the Oscar nominated short film Killing Joe (Joy Films).
He has also composed The Overture's original material: Piccadilly Goodbye; Don't Wait Too Long; Hole In The Ground, Forever England and others.
This version is way better than the original version. I think if the beatles re-recorded this in '65, it would have sounded just like this, but because it was an early,early beatle (quarrymen) song, it didn't sound as good. 12-string guitars were very popular in the mid 60's, and this version has that mid 60's beatle/byrds feel. This version could almost pass for a Byrds song.
@hopop313 it's no the same song paul and george wrote in the late 50's.. lennon wrote this song in the late 70's... the name is the same but it's not the same song at all
incredible song, fantastic, amazing!!!! congratulations for the band and thank you very much for uploading this video, who also shows the number 1 studio in the whole world...seeing this video is like watching to dream of mine, i just love abbey road studio, is my favorite/top magical place...

Just discovered The Overtures and found this song, a real sense of the 60's and beautifully written. You should play it more often live.

@glogi555555 It's a Rickenbacker 360-12, not a 325.

@glogi555555 this song sounds like a Lennon song, but was written by Dennis Pugsley in 1994 and is usng by him here.
In 1994 Den was commissioned to write two songs for Merlin's Beatles video ('Behind The Beat', 'In Spite Of All The Danger')

Man, I searched this song long and hard. So Beatlesque - sounds almost like an authentic, unissued Lennon-McCartney number
