  • sounds like you drink alot

  • you're awesome man !!!!

  • awsome drum'n man...i want ur book..u kick it old school an ur good!

  • Jim your my hero! Ur an animal at double bass! I want that book

  • can anyone recommend a double peddle for me i have played for 15 years, but have never played doble bass

  • you are too tense when playing, relax man!

  • Two bass drums,, well it's a matter of preference. It really doesn't matter from in front of a kit , ( audience), but I find both ways equally fun for different reasons. The feel is different on both accounts but equally fun. Anyway, this guy is cool, but reminds me of myself when I am drunk. He's probably about my age too. (50).

My playing is sloppy and disjointed when I am impaired, much like this fellow. Don't mean to be cruel. But he is selling teaching material. Wow, really?

  • love the kit nice work. the pattern works for me

  • can u play any 32and notes on them bass drums?

  • don't get double bass pedal, get double bass drum

  • i want double bass and i have the space for 2 bass drums but wot would u recomend double bass drum or double bass pedal. plz help

  • most people buy two drums, mostly for showing, but others tune for example the left one a bit higher(like mike portnoy) because you get two different sounds, althogh it will cost you much more than buying a double bass pedal. Good luck and hope you do the right choiche:)

  • not shure if you got it yet but i would go for the pedal because it has a style like the drums tho the people cant see but you can use the angle if you were to make a music video

  • I would get a really nice double bass pedal. Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive is one of the best; it feels just like 2 bass drums, but saves you space, and money, depending on the drum you would have bought.

  • Nobody needs two bass drums!

But like the so much air in move when i play my two kicks! :-)

Mostly on gigs i play double pedal, easier transport!

    Your choice!

  • hey, man i see you are using a pinstripe front head on the kick... it is really limiting the sound. I know you are old school but I would recommend an Ebony Powerstroke 3 front, it will make your kick sing! If you have a pinstripe on the batter too, I would recommend putting a Clear Powerstroke 3 on with a falam slam, the clarity of the kick will increase.

  • Hi, Thanks for the advice, I think I'll take you up on it. Jim

  • no offense, but how do you figure? i use them on my double bass set, but i also use Holz kits for port holes and i dont put ANYTHING in them. not even a blanket. the whole reason i use em is for a deeper sound and a shorter resonance. i do that coupled with kickpads, and tape around the edges, to eliminate the vibrational nodes with the higher frequencies... its loud, short and deeeeep.

i myself recommend them to all double bass drummers.

  • well, if you are old school that is the standard. The way most drummers do it now days is a clear P3 on the batter and an ebony p3 on the front. you don't really need anything in the kick drum and the ebony p3 has a built in dynamo so you don't have to cut one or get a holz kit. an ebony p3 has a built in muffle ring and i think still has a better sound than an ebony pinstripe. again the p3 is probably remo's best kick head since the pinstripe.

  • truth be told.

i like how staccato the thud is with the two plies of the pinstripe personally... the lack of 'boom' is great for 32nd notes. but maybe i'll give that head a try and see what i can do with it, looks pretty sweet. my main kit's 22"s are already pretty loud.... but i assume it'd be fantastic for an 18" drum.

  • Nice drumming Jim - hope you had a Merry Christmas - its another year passing us

    Tom Brice

  • massive variety of double bass playing, i never realised how complex it really can be. Massive demonstration

  • Thats a pretty set of drums....and I like that cool shirt he's wearing. You too will will be a double bass monster!!

  • not knocking ya or anything, but how can you play such a dry set?

just wondering, cause I cannot play on a set like that at all. not physically, but mentally

  • What does he have on his toms to deadend the ringing? Looks more than just tape. I'm just curious because it seems like a good idea, instread of putting tape in the middle of the toms.

  • Muffling rings

  • try moongel.

  • Weird style of playing, but the results are there. That's what matters.

  • Awsome drumming, ive got this book and its amazing!!!!!!!! So good... Excellent

  • Isn't it tiring using your entire arm?

  • ....well, how long would it take to go through all of them?

  • Great job at playing and teaching -

I just got the book and love it

  • Youre pretty good old man. You should just o freestlye and record that and upload it to youtube for us all to see.

  • Excellent idea to promote your book on youtube, Jim.

Good luck to you, I hope it sells a million copies.
