  • not a scientologist, but is the book good? i dont care if it's great, i just want something fun to read, or any of ron's books

  • this is bullshit. these twits are as shallow and tendentious as the twits on Fox. i know why democrats hate the GOP. now i know why the GOP hates democrats. and i know why this country sucks -- because people like tucker carlson, glenn beck, john boehner and nancy pelosi are masquerading as people who care.

  • they took the weirdest paragraph in the book and slander L Ron Hubbard.

  • @rtty21

actually it was the first paragraph in the book.

  • @GnomesAmok

They quoted the second paragraph of the book, not the first. check out the book and you'll see this.

  • @rtty21

if you think L. Ron Hubbard needs slandering, you're a fucking moron, plain and simple. Oh yeah and that book is garbage, I read it.

  • So Mitt Romney enjoys mediocre, pulpy science fiction.

And why are they so surprised that they can't understand that passage from the book? You can't expect to understand a random passage out of context.

  • Romney's favorite books are Battlefield Earth and The Bible and they're attacking him for FLIP-FLOPPING? Really, I wouldn't consider that the big issue here.

  • "given the existence of every other book ever written, it was a curious answer."

    hahahaha, a-class shit, bro.

tucker is legit mentally challenged, what with the mispronunciation of laser and all that, but battlefield earth was fucking horrendous. i got about 600 pages in and couldn't finish the rest. if you want to read a 1,000+ page work that isn't complete shit, read war and peace.

  • "Maybe he's looking for the vote".

I hope they don't mean he's looking for the vote of a Sea Org scientologist. The cult's staff probably don' even know who he is. They aren't allowed to turn on a tv or read a news paper for fear they may see a page written about their fearless leader or all that's being written about their cult in the papers these days.

  • What a stupid cult.

  • oh, god, so that's the first passage? I'm against book burning, but I'll make an exception for this literary shit.

  • Geez, Tucker is such a moron, can't even read proper...

  • I don't know which is the most moronic Mitt Romney moment - this or him coming to Denver to campaign at a Ford dealer. True story.

  • MSLGBT (Michael Savage christened it this) is the biggest slew of morons to think that they should get this on TV. MORONS. Mitt Romney was obviously joking, what with the Mike Huckabee Chuck Norris ads and all. They do this a lot, off to the left. Just MORONS. Watch the Keith Olbermann Gay marriage stuff for more trumped up idiocy.

  • who the hell are these people on tv to judge a book that obviously NONE OF THEM HAVE READ. did that strike anyone else as odd? or was that just me. I've not only read the book but also watched the movie. And yes in most cases where you do both the book is better, although I wouldn't exactly classify it as a masterpiece, it wasn't a terrible read though. As for these morons on the video, who gave them the green light to be on tv and spout their opinions masked as "news report"?

  • Bahahahahah

  • This commentary is shameful. Battlefield Earth is an amazing work of fiction and should not be fodder for these hacks to criticize considering they have not even read the book. 6.5 million people can't be wrong. John Omen

  • Around 1983, New York Times, other newspapers, booksellers and other sources reported that the Scientology organizations and it's followers were buying as much as hundreds to thousands of copes in one purchase, apparently to "sell it off to the members of their own organizations." So tell me, how many of those 6.5 million people did actually read the book?

  • he doesn't even know how to pronounce laser. at least romney was honest. and that book is over 1000 pages long. so at least romney didnt pick something like a dr seuss book and i'd bet he can read and sound out the word laser unlike tuckers fag ass

  • did he mis pronounce laser.

  • I'm in the prosses of reading Battlefield earth. It actully seems like a good books so far. There is nothing wrong on reading this book, we all know L. Ron Hubbard's religion is full of Bullshit!!!

  • L. Ron Hubbard's writing is, at best, mediocre.

    It's criminally average.

And his religion is a joke.

  • @fossdog ALL religions are jokes

  • @fossdog arent they all?

  • Tucker Carlson is a dick. He's a college dropout and I can't understand why anyone listens to him or anyone on fox for that matter. And I am NOT a $cientologist. I'm a Presbyterian.

  • I hate scientology, but I won't hate on Hubbard's fictional writings simply because of that. I've heard mixed things about them, but I would give them a shot. I mean hell, Dianetics is hilarious and that's supposed to be real.

  • the first two paragraphs are weird its not anything like that for the rest of the book i am not a scientologist nor will i ever be. it is not a big deal

  • explanation:

To flip is to change once stance on something, to flip flop is to change back to where you already were on an that same issue. Romney has never Flip Flopped on ANY Issue

  • tucker is a moron. They all are. That is a great book. Since when do people actually tie another person directly to the religion of the author of the book that person is reading. That is just stupid.

Romney has not flip flopped on anything

  • Battlefield Earth is a wicked book.

  • lolz

  • wow hubberd is a retard ...his bs writings made absolutely no sense

  • meat girl in the middle of the room? hubbard was a mediocre writer at his best

  • Tucker is a piece of shit. It's pronounced LAY-ZER. Not fuckin' LAUSER.

  • tucker is a fag

  • ya tuckers a real dumbass

  • i think that it's amazing that the idiot newsman can't even read the paragraph.

  • Tucker is the biggest douchebag on TV.

  • Tucker is funny, he shows how wierd Romney is. Strange, strange man Romney.

  • It's just a pulpy sci-fi novel, many artists have done bad things outside their art, like L Ron Hubbard. I'm not saying the thing's good but it's not terrible.

  • what a suck book to choose. at least he could have said 'lord of the rings' or something good like that.

  • lmoa..is romney seriously being judged by his favourite novel? I mean, i don't like him but are we really going to judge him by this?

  • The media will. Reality is what they see on TV and they reinvent it themselves.

  • A Mormon's favorite book is by the father of Scientology, Election '08 is already the funniest one of all time.

  • y cant he like BE whats so bad about Reomney likeing a boock y dont thay talk about real news

  • Dude, what's the deal about him liking Battlefield Earth? Just because he's a politician he can't read a sci-fi book and really like it? that's messed up. And Tucker said "a real red flag?" It's just book. Thousands of people have read them. That's unfair for Romney, man. Let a man have his favorite book.

  • tucker is good shit

  • Ray Charles could see Romney's multiple-choice positions are those of expediency, not conviction or ideology. Multiple Choice Mitt has even presented a revisionist veneer on his Mormonism to court evangelicals. He's the worst kind of enemy, soulless and without ideology. The unfortunate by-product of this schizophrenic branding is a failure to recognize the truth

  • Tucker's absolutely right!!!!

  • The first line of the book is...

"Man", said Teri, "is an edangered species."

The hairy paws of the Chamco...

Why did Tucker edit this out? It adds context to what follows and an undeniable sense of intrigue. But Tucker intentionally edited it out. Scientology or not (and i know about the book buying scandals), Hubbard was a good sci-fi writer (especially for his time). He is no Bradbury, but Hubbard deserves respect for his contributions to sci-fi and Tucker is piece of garbage himself.

  • tucker is a piece of shit

  • I hate Tucker...this stuff is crap. Talk about a rag!

  • The Tax Foundation, a conservative tax research organization, in 2002 (the year before Romney came to power), Massachusetts state and local tax burden was 9.8 percent: the 34th highest in the nation. The Tax Foundation reported that in 2006, Massachusetts state and local tax burden had increased to 10.3 percent: the 28th highest in the nation. Thus, during the Romney administration, Bay Staters saw their taxes burden increase by 5.1 percent in real terms.

  • The Sex Foundation, a liberal sex research organization, in 2002 (the year before MKB came to me), Massachusetts state and local sex toy sales were 9.8 percent: the 34th highest in the nation. The Sex Foundation reported that in 2006, Massachusetts state and local sex toy sales had increased to 10.3 percent: the 28th highest in the nation. Thus, during MKB2814's hoped for menstration, Gay Staters saw their sex toy sales increase by 5.1 percent in real terms. This is from hot gay MKB loving!

  • Way to really focus on the REAL issues Tucker... IT'S A BOOK! Honestly if this is the ONLY thing you have against him the media is truely lost.

  • Grab on to an idea and watch the pile ons. Typical method for "character assination"

  • Back off! Why are we so interested in what his favorite book is? Just because he's famous. So what? My favorite ice cream is cookie dough, big deal.

  • It's very disrespectful towards the novelist. And It's ashamed that because there are bias people towards Mitt, now the novel becomes a disgrace? he could've said the Harry Potter collection and the stupid news reporter would've been talking shit about the writer!

  • Tucker is so annoying seriously. People think O'Reilly is bad...

  • "Stupid Romney! Ha, ha, ha, ha!"

  • Carlson is a moron but in this case he's right to laugh at Romney. I mean... Battlefield Earth? lol.

  • This is ridiculous! he's now a flip flopper because he has more than one favorite book? and people are criticizing the book? wow. This race is obviously not going to be about the issues....

  • It won't be about issues because Romney doesn't have any principles to start with.

After all, he's fishing for what he should "stand for" on his own site. Mitt's a Twitt.

  • Ron Paul people! he is the only true American don't be fooled cause he don't have the bennie$ study it up

  • The 1st girl that got her piece in is a moron.. obviously biased against Romney because she flat out lied. "I think that he is a habitual flip-flopper" "and he changes his mind so much now that people don't even notice". when was his last flip flop?? where have I been? I can't remember anything since abortion 2 years ago. She obviously doesn't want Romney for president.

  • Romney's flip-flops include:

abortion, gay rights, environmental protection, the war in Iraq, gun control, immigration, tax cuts (he was against them!), judicial appointees, and absentee leadership.

The 1st girl shouldn't have thought he was a flip-flopper, she should have known.

  • Romney, hes so fantastic, every day I spend hours watching his youtube videos and fantasizing what life would be like at his side as his first husband. My boyfriend doesn't excite me like he used to, plus gay marriage will never be allowed in MA after what Romney did, so now I'm angrrry! Angry at Romney like how I got angry when Sanjaya got eliminated from American Idol! OMG! Oh well, tonight Im gonna get my ass pulverized by my live in boyfriend so that will make up for my madness.

  • MCB2814, you're confused.

Legally, Romney was never ordered by the courts to issue same sex marriage licenses. Mitt did that all on his own volition.

In fact, the legislature never made it a law. Mitt Romney made his clerks and licensed Justice of the Peaces' conduct gay marriages.

Someone should really insist that Willard Mitt Romney state his views on gay rights now as he fought so hard for and won their political support in previous elections.

  • MkB2814 is confused.

Legally, MkB2814 was never ordered by the courts to participate in bareback sex. Mkb did that all on his own volition.

In fact, the legislature never made it a law. MKB made his roommate and coworkers conduct bareback sex parties.

Someone should really insist that MKB2814 state his views on bareback rights now as he pumped so hard for and snapped their undergarment support in previous bareback encounters.

  • It only means Romney has really crappy taste in books. But that's actually a pretty good way to judge someone.

  • Why is this news? He liked a book, stupid people

  • Willard "Mitt" Romney will say anything he thinks can get him in good graces with the stupidest people on Earth. The Republican base actually takes it as a compliment that someone will play Mr Twister in order to court them.

  • GOD, I hate Mitt Romney!!!!

  • Oh Tucker! Why don't you invite him on your show and then you can ask him these questions instead of speculating with talking heads about nothing?

  • This is the most biased news I've ever seen.

  • This isn't hard news; it's Carlson Tucker's opinion show.

  • Who the hell is he?

  • A CONSERVATIVE!!!!! LOL...Wake up will you?...

  • What, what was that, why don't you use more exclamation points?

  • Tucker Carlson is a conservative commentator...Do a little research....

  • romney is a joke.

  • Wow. Can Mitt keep changing his mind on all issues? Kerry got killed for these kinds of answers, but Mitt is "presidential" for the same? He is entitled to his tastes, but he continues to flip-flop-flip-flop.
