The bill was sponsored by Senators Barack Obama (D-IL), Chuck Hagel (R-NE), and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Congressmen Adam Smith (D-WA) and Spencer Bachus (R-AL). That's 3 Democrats and 2 Republicans. To say that the bill would cost the American tax payers $847 billion dollars is misleading at best.
