i would say that was an option but he obviously is running a larger scale import and or distributing business to have that many cups and that little experience. his best bet.. hire someone who isn't afraid of them and knows proper techniques for hte days when he's importing large numbers of tarantulas, for both HIS and THEIR benefit.. Haplopelma and Chilobrachys are very popular imports with pretty nasty bites...

This man has a job working with spiders, which is part of a larger business, he needs to be knowing what he's doing beforehand and the shop should have taught him at the very least.

If you deal with animals, you really need to know how to care for them.

Tarantulas are fragile, and that is NOT the way to handle them! Even an aggressive one that you, (a human 1000 times it's size) might find scary, should be handled far better than that. Get on some forums and learn that there are safer, easier, and more humane ways to handle a tarantula that won't lose your company money through animal deaths!

Well, here's another person that would never buy from this store, whether I was looking for an invert or reptile. Do not sell animals if you cannot manage them correctly. That is no matter than the stupid giggly teenage girls at my local pet store that freak out when touching a baby corn snake or rat.

Even my mother, who is terrified of my tarantulas when they're not completely secured, helps with unpacking and re-homing them by gently prodding them with a paint brush.

The second one ran off. When a T dies on impact, it doesn't move afterwards. That one took off. They usally die if they have fat abdomens, but burrowers usually stay slim, and too they are not fattened up prior to shipping because their abdomens can bust if there is turbulent desturbance in their traveling container. If you havn't dealt with a cobalt blue, you don't understand how nasty these things are, and how fast. I have a cobalt, and they don't respond slowly to disturbance.

Don't know which colombian bird eater you dealt with. Mine is nice. My haplos run up the forceps too, and I have a deli cup waiting for them at the top, so they crawl right in and I seal the lid. No harm done. All that guy really had to do was take the point A cup; lid off of course. Then turn it upside down over the point B cup, rim to rim and maybe give it a tap and the spider should just gently drop into the other cup. The company's fault for not training him how to do the job right.
