  • solid video man, definitely a good lesson for tapping. I agree with using the thumb to anchor, but one finger iworks fine for me, and ill often use multiple fingers to tap multiple notes and add to the complexity of the runs

  • As much as i understand what xCAMxCAMxX is saying technically finger strength doesn't exist as it were

  • I think this guy is stoned, he's good though

  • LAND AND PULL. LAND AND PULL. What is this? A Lamaze class?

  • and people say you dont need bass in a band :(

  • Palikot...? xDDD

  • Great work have got tabs

  • JASON SEGEL?

  • Marshall Eriksen 0_0

  • @Sosuke95 i was thinking the exact same thing lol

  • Tocata and Fugue !

  • he isn't EVH

  • that bass sounds like crap and does not do you justice, you're like michael schumacher driving a Lada.

  • @asifineededaname

I'm thinking that is more a limitation of the recording gear rather than the bass itself.

  • pretty awsome

  • Sounds like

    Billy Sheehan

  • Bad ass! This helped big time!

  • idk what it is.. but classical music on rock instruments is just amazing.

  • Bach fucking rules!!!!!!!!!!!

  • as soon as he hit a note i couldnt hear shit...

  • u look like kyle gas

  • Nice tapping!

  • wow you are amazing :D \m/

  • cool , congratulations , i'm learning this piece with guitar , is much beautiful !!!

  • Douchetastic!

  • ive got some realy good skills on guitar with tapping i did it today at friends on a bass and damn it was good XD

  • fatty van halen lmao

  • impressive look at the big smile on his face at the end like hes so proud of himself

  • This guy is such a stoner i love him! :D great vid man kewl :)

  • this dude is still a hippy pussy why don't he just hit the fret with his hand if he's that fucking weak

  • You definitely do not need 2 fingers to tap a note. Get finger strength.

  • @SpaceDanish Have you ever done it?

  • Flaminco players were tapping before any of these guitarist were even thought of. and this dudes a pussy if he has to use such a shitty tapping technique. He looks like a big meaty hook

  • this boy knows all about the two hand technique

  • pro

  • was it not zappa?

  • Haha nice debate. Either way what song was he tapping i recognise the tune but :/

  • Guys, I hate to break it to you, but there were guys tapping on a electric guitar before Eddie, before Satch and before Page.

They popularized it in the hard rock/metal scene, and of course added their own interpretations to it, but it had been done before.

  • great hair!

(as far as Sach vs EVH, prob'ly most non-guitar players never heard of Satriani... and people have been tapping fretboards for generations before either of them)

  • i owe my great hair to head an shoulders ;) (comercial reference =P)

  • WROOOONNNNG eddie did not bring it to the scene

  • @HugelyBig

eddie was around much before satriani and yes eddie did bring tapping to its current popularity.

  • Just because Eddie was around first doesn't make him the first to start tapping. Satriani started it - Eddie stole it and made it popular.

  • Eddie was tapping with Van Halen I, which was recorded ten years before Satriani's first album hit the scene.

  • Really really awesome, why is everyone banging the meaty hook style? I like it haha. Thanks I just started getting into tapping so this should be a fun little project for me to give up on later.

  • jimmy page was the first to bring tapping out on the scene eddy even says his tapping was inspierd by pages tapppin on dazed and confused in the film the song remans the same

  • is it me or is his fingers weak to use the "meaty hook" im 14 and i play without that haha

  • This guy looks like an asshole

  • Omfg, you are so right.

  • WOW "meaty hook"

or you can just strengthen all your fingers so you don't have to use the "meaty hook" and so you can increase your speed.

  • @xCAMxCAMxX - No laws on the technique, but even with strong fingers, you may find the notes articulate much better if you try the meaty hook technique, especially playing live.

  • @BassBooksVideos If the notes arn't articulating right then you find a more practical solution to the problem. taking my middle finger away from other notes just to reinforce my index seems like a lazy and half assed solution to the problem when I could spend a few days working on my weaker fingers so the notes I'm tapping sound as best as possible.

  • @xCAMxCAMxX you know where I got that tip? Billy Sheehan. Next time you see the guy, why don't you tell him he's doing it wrong, as if there's a wrong and right way to do it. You could probably show him quite a few things about tapping and bass playing in general, I'm sure.

  • @BassBooksVideos Why the sarcasm and hostility? I'm telling you I disagree with you and telling you my opinion. relax.

Also, just because Billy is an amazingly talented bass player doesn't mean hes above having an idea that isn't as logical as another.

another thing, I never said that there was an absolute wrong or right. I just said that I disagree with this idea and introduced an idea that I have experienced to be a better method. If your above sharing new ideas then get of the internet.

  • @BassBooksVideos By the way, this isn't just a theory, I'm speaking from experience. If I had adopted the "meaty hook" technique years ago I wouldn't be playing at the level I am today.

  • wow ur pretty good lol

  • :P this is funny cuz i can do this stuff without the "meaty hook" i just use my middle finger to tap another sting

  • Sweatpants or dirty jeans, what does everyone think?

  • sweatpants!

  • nice sound

  • waht is the name for this song?????????????

  • Fued in d minor he said it at the end of the video

  • Toccata and fugue in D minor by Bach

  • I don't know I find when I finger tap, I like to use one finger. I find that my finger slips off the nail and it's just much easier with one.

  • i have that dvd

    =D

  • good bass guitar player.

  • fantastic youre a great bass guitar player.

  • dont you have the tab or somethibng please ??

  • damn your good

  • omg i have the same bass as you lol

  • GREAT!!!! i loved it!!!...where can i have a tab from this?!?!....ill see your video until i can play it on my Ibanez RDRG505!!!!....

  • mmmm... big meaty hook

  • I've seen actually no point in using two fingers to tap one note. Of course, the strings are more difficult to press down but with practice it can be done easily. No offense of course. I do know that great players like Sheehan do that, but I still see no point in that.

  • sounds amazin!!!!!!!

  • good job, my problem is that its not all tapping, hes only tapping one note then strumming the next, so the tapping is actually only every other note,, do you have any vids where every note is tapped and he uses both hands to tap not just tap strum tap stum,, very talented tho, im not bitching just noticing,, good vid

  • that sounds fuckin cool

  • Hey I'v heard this song on the organ before, I think Back composed it but I forget what its called. still its cool.

  • moonlight sonata by Beethoven is the piece you're reminded of. Not the same song but similar.

  • Sorry, that comment was one left by my brother when he hijacked my account.

  • it's actually fuge in d minor he says it at the end in case you missed it, beautiful song on bass as well as piano apparently, who knew!! lol

  • sounds best on organ =D

  • thanks! thats gonna really help me

  • big old meaty hook

  • ThaT was kewl!!!

  • awesomew

  • tab for the fugue?

  • what is the name of theis book you speak of O.o

  • nice

  • i just do this with my thumb, its much easier and gives you better speed...but you still get the proble of you can only tap one string at a time :/

  • that technique would be great until the moment you discover that you want to use 2 seperate fingers to tap, then you finger on top of another technique would be the most useless thing ever

  • guy.. u really rock

  • Wow, I can't wait to start practicing this one.

  • haha! That was pretty sick dude...

  • Eddie Wasn't The First To Tap, It Was Around For Years Before, He Made It Famous

  • Godlike oO

  • thanks
