@reriolu this is based on old legends of mermaids taking sailors to their deaths. the little mermaid had NOTHING to do with this song by eagle-eye cherry off a fab album about love, loss, mistakes, drugs, etc, desireless.
the disney movie was based on the old fairytale written by hans christian anderson in which she trades her tongue for the mixed blessing of legs but ends up having to choose between killing the prince or her own death and chooses death. so in that cherry gets it closer.
@reriolu I really dislike Disney. As you mentioned, it ruined the story and has ruined many others too. It has a nasty habit of twisting everything, making Americans out to be the heroes and everyone else to be cowards or villains.
@Moonraker1974 It's cool. I enjoy Disney to an extent, but they DO ruin stories. I like a lot of the crossovers and stories people make up from the clips from the movies, ect.
My problem with Disney is that they're not true to the original story. In the original "Little Mermaid", the mermaid didn't get her man--she dissolved into sea foam. "Beauty and the Beast" didn't go ANYTHING like the Disney film. Don't even get me started on how far off "Hercules" is from the original Greek myth. "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" also changed the original ending. "Pocohantas"....ARGH.
i really liked the video! it was all the best bits to fit with the song, and in a way it didn't look like the little mermaid, it looked really original :) i love the song too :)
yeah, i think the song is about love beyond death. it may sound wrong at some point, especially when Eagle Eye Cherry sang the line "...there is nothing i won't do for you lorelei..."
but this is such a beautiful song. i absolutely love it. =)
I hate to break it to ya, but it doesn't. This song is based off of the legend of lorelai. You see, the original Little Mermaid involved a mermaid that became human. The legend of Lorelai involves a human that became a mermaid...then seduced sailors to their deaths.
Once again Eagle Eye: You are not alone.

Hate to break it to you, but in the book "The Little Mermaid", it describes her as being unable to cry. Disney ruined the story, including that!
