lol, did Jarrah actually call the moon's surface "soil"? As far as I know, it's the part of the earth's surface consisting of humus and disintegrated rock. Does the moon have humus?
Actually the whole subject of the landing rockets disturbing the moon-dust is null and void. They didn't need to use rockets to soften the landing when gliding in on 1/6th Earth's gravity and those four huge things, one on each corner of the lander are shock-absorbers. Easily big enough to take care of a soft touch-down without the use of descent control thrusters.
Stop using what you learned in high-school physics outside high-school.
@TheTruemouse Well, they did need to use the rocket thruster to slow down their descent. It was a constant deceleration. Once they got to about 5 or 6 feet above the surface, if they were going only one or two feet per second, they could cut off the thrusters and drop from there. That much impact was within safe range, but they wouldn't want to do it from much higher than that.
@Astrobrant2 Point is they wouldn't have had the concentrated blast from the comic-book landing the hoax-squad seem to believe they would make, and certainly it wouldn't need the force they describe.
It just seems to me that folks forget this was the 'lunar landing module' it was designed to land on the moon. It wasn't called the 'hovering in the backlot of a poorly budgeted special effects company module'.
In addition, the exhaust bell covered a very large area which spreads that force out a lot, thus minimizing the pressure on the ground. Add to that the fact that in a vacuum, that exhaust comes out at very wide angle.
I think Kaysing was the first to come up with this crater nonsense. I'm hoping hoax nuts will learn just how ignorant he was, in addition to confessing that he concocted this hoax nonsense at the request of an anti-American heroin addict.
Do you people realize that Bill Kaysing, with his BA in English, is the most highly degreed person in 35 years of hoax accusers?
Yep, not one person with a technical degree. No masters degrees or PhDs. Kaysing's title of "service engineer" is bogus. He did not have the credentials or experience or training to be hired as ANY kind of technical expert. He left Rocketdyne 3 years before Apollo and started all this crap when a disgruntled GI suggested it to him out of anger toward the government.
I recall one video where it was claimed David Groves has a PhD. Yet nobody can seem to find confirmation of this title for the "Dr. David Groves" who made the claims that the Apollo photos were faked.
I e-mailed Rocketdyne some months ago, but didn't get a reply. I'll try again.
It looks like you got the information I was looking for, but I'd still like to have more detail. I want a letter from Rocketdyne explaining all of this so I can post it as a reply to Jarrah's triumphant video where he posts the letter listing Kaysing's euphemistic credentials.
One television documentary did label Rene as a physicist. He later admitted that he had no such degree.
I'm not saying "we have" or "we haven't". All I was pointing out is that "proof" can be faked.
Case in point. The age old belief that the Earth was FLAT. Until is was proven, and that means actually sailed around, many people didn't believe the scientists of that time. Another...bio-engenieered foods BOTH sides have "Ph. D's" to back up their sides. Whose right? TIME will tell. Samething here...BOTH sides have "Ph. D's" only TIME will tell.
This argument does NOT have PhDs and other experts on both sides. Not one qualified person in the world, for the last 40 years, has challenged the Apollo missions. This has been done ENTIRELY by uniquely UNqualified conspiracy theorists AND every single argument they have made has been utterly debunked. Many of those arguments are so stupid, most 8th graders could thrash them.
The whole moon hoax thing was started by a paranoid psychotic with a BA in English and a severe hatred of his country.
WE HONESTLY DO NOT KNOW. It's like religion and God...you go on faith. Pictures, film, radio broadcasts, interviews, all the other "proof" for both sides can be faked. We really have NO CLUE. With all the events that governments lie, hide, or cover up EVERYTHING has cause to be questioned. In the end your faith in truth and government is what is needed. Sadly...I have none.
Until another nation goes there...or we happen to build something on the moon...no one will ever know the truth.
All of the Apollo videos, photos, transcripts, and visual and radar tracking do prove that man landed on the moon, regardless of what the CTs and HBs say. More importantly, the moon rocks themselves, returned by the astronauts and which have been examined by dozens of nations, prove that man really did land on the moon.
If the USSR could have proved that the Apollo landings were a hoax, then it would have been the political coup of the century for them.
YOU don't know. But if you study the facts, you can learn.
We went to the moon. It is not a matter of opinion. It is a fact. There are only people who KNOW and people who don't. It is probably the most thoroughly documented event in history. Not only would it have been utterly IMPOSSIBLE to fake, (especially with the Soviets intently tracking EVERY rocket we ever launched), but every single claim made by the hoaxers has failed.
When faced with that, it is lunacy for anyone to claim a hoax.
I kinda feel sorry for Jarrah. He has some brains and seems to be fairly bright, yet long ago he was misguided down a path filled with BS and outright lies by his mentors. It must be kind of hard to turn back towards both reality and the truth after allowing oneself to blinders for several years.
GTP, for every Jarrah, there are hundreds of others who have been exposed to the hoax arguments and gone to find out the truth. They learn that the hoax arguments have all been debunked, and they go on about their business -- we never hear from them again. They are among the majority who can admit they were wrong or didn't know something.
Jarrah is the way he is, not because he was exposed to the wrong sources but because he has a huge ego and is extremely conceited.
AB2:This is a perfect example how jw et al fool themselves. You should add a demonstration showing the real cause of the"crater digging" which is explosive spalling: Apply a brazing torch to a chunk of concrete (heat, no thrust), pieces will begin popping-off. The water locked-up in the material turns to superheated steam. All of this is well known.
Comments to this effect have been posted to jw videos for many months and I know he saw some of them. What is he trying to accomplish?
Keep in mind that JW knows that he attracts uneducated idiots as followers. All he has got to do in order to reel them in hook, line and sinker, is to mix his lies in with various elements of truth.
Come to think of it, this is exactly what evangelists say Satan does. "Weeeelllll," the church lady said. "Could Jarrah be...SATAN?"
If I could go back and live my life over, I would be a classical guitarist.
And an astronaut, of course. Well, Judy Resnick was a classical pianist.
(Being a guitarist and an astronaut would score a lot more of that p***y than being a school teacher, ya think? I mean, let's keep focused on our real priorities here.)
If you spread out the thrust, you spread out the force, and when you spread out the force you need more thrust. Is that according to science, of course there is always the possibility to askascience.
Occhamite, he is trying to become a woo-woo celebrity. He wants to be the unchallenged heir to the hoax crown of Kaysing and Rene.
I think he sees himself appearing on talk shows and documentaries. Somebody should break the news to him softly: even if he was a prodigious genius and even if he was RIGHT, he will never be a celebrity because of the way he talks.
Well, with AB's recent video efforts, the Boozyscientist, Jamesbooty's two efforts, philwebb's excellent series... I have two things to say to Jarrah and his cohorts?
(a) Where are un4, SD02, s/v, stmark et al?
(b) Hahahahahahahahahahaha, look what happens when you meet people who know something about science you drop out pricks.
Oh, now, they may be science drop-outs, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they are pricks. They have to have posted deliberately misleading hoax videos which claim to be "proofs" in order to be pricks.
Tkw, may be they are busy making that radioshow on Conspiracy FM? LOL
No, I really don't know. I noticed some change in their comments when LRO became an issue. And as soon Jarrah made a video about it they gathered on it and collectively shouted FAKE FAKE!
I'm going to do a search for Un4, Straw, Secular, Stmark and the other monkeys. Some weeks ago I counted 36 of them. I guess they are extinctive...
Yep. Firefighters hate fuel truck fires since the heat from the burning gasoline can make concrete explode, adding another element of danger to the situation.
Holding up mathematics to a conspiracy theorist is like hold up a crucifix to a vampire.
I can understand how the physics might elude them, though. The effect of the thrust on the vessel is entirely different from the effect of the exhaust on the ground. The total thrust, regardless of the size of the nozzle, is applied to the whole ship. IOW, pounds.
The effect on the ground becomes a factor of the area covered by the blast, IOW pounds per sq. inch. Distance, of course, is also a major factor.
Hey, are you guys finding this associated with Pinnacle videos? What's with that?
There is one default tag in the movie making screen, and that's Pinnacle. When I first uploaded this, (privately), I didn't put in any tags. The Pinnacle was still there. Then I got rid of that and put in the other tags. I wonder if it made these associations a first and didn't change them.
Good job Astro! You're estimates pass the muster. The nozzle looks to be about 3" o.d. and probably has fuel running through the wall for cooling, making the i.d. even smaller and hence, the pressure larger.
I didn't notice your hidden messages on the book cover, white board (White board?), or VCR tape. They were well hidden. The bong I thought was real.
I wonder if your (very excellent) videos take so long to load at the beginning because your intro title has all that static in the background. I wonder if that bit, after being rendered, takes up a lot more space than the rest of the video. The progress bar shows it's much further along in the loading than it really is, and I wonder if it bases that on how many bytes have been transfered and it assumes it's loaded much more video than it has...
I don't know what's with Youtube comments. I posted a reply to this a long time ago.
Yeah, that last "Yes, we did" was tough.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned my golden arches from the "silly NASA boo-boos" video.

Maybe from Patriot "University," where Kent Hovind got his.
Astrobrant2 2 years ago
The title of "service engineer", according to the company that later absorbed Rocketdyne, referred to an unskilled worker.
So Kaysing did not have to know a thing about engineering to do even that job.
Amazing how hoax believers love to inflate his education, isn't it?
And it's also funny to see how they often refer to Ralph Rene as a physicist.

I actually got it from Jay Windley's 'Clavius' website, on his entry on Kaysing. He might have details listed there.
Given it's source, Jarrah will denounce it quicker than a cockroach darting from an incoming shoe.

Sure we do.
And your comparison with religion is far from the mark.

Just as the conspiracy theories just do not stand up to any scrutiny.

Of course the fragments of concrete were caused by the heat not the pressure.
The heat evaporates the water in the concrete causing it to expand breaking of fragments. It is a well understood effect.
