@mandolinroad I use have used the 1000 for at least a hundred gigs. It sounds clean and smooth, without an exaggerated top end. They have a pretty good throw, that is you don't have to get right up on it. I just throw it in my gig bag with a SM58 and it is very road worthy. though I wouldn't say it's my favorite recording mic, it is well worth the $200 and far superior to a SM57 or Chinese condensers.
Nice review. I've been using one of these for my acoustic guitar for years. Btw, you can remove unproductive comments by clicking the drop down arrow next to "Reply" and then clicking remove.
@heebajubanabad Thanks!! As for the first ever mic, I recently got MXL 008 USB mic - it's very basic and no audio interface is needed. I needed the mic for my vocal only - no instrument.. But in the future, I would like to upgrade to a better mic .. I looked up FS pro 40 -.. it's great but for me it has so many functions and inputs, which I won't need. Would you recommend any lower end? As for SE1A, would that cut as a good vocal mic? I was told to get LDM for vocal..?
@WVUtubadude I'm gonna have to agree with you. I bought these back when they came out and kept them for a while waiting for something that they might work on. After a year of gathering dust, I sold em.
@LawtonRecords I know how to use microphones, thank you very much. These things are widely regarded as shit, however. They don't sound good on ANYTHING.
Don't even get me started on your closet of a "control room."
@WVUtubadude HAHAHA sorry kid but you cant redeem yourself now. You already made yourself look like an idiot when you said these mics are crap. Hey maybe I'll sell you one when you get off your welfare budget lol.
hahaha nice job!. You can google the recording worlds top rated mics and say that you own them. haha frop me a call and I'll offer you an internship at my studio. You might learn something
@LawtonRecords Why would you offer an internship to someone who was so unpleasant towards you? I was just about to listen to your advice, but now I realize you have terrible judgment.
@WVUtubadude Not to get involved in your pissing match here.... BUT.... "the C1000 is one of the least respected mics out there" -- Well, I'm just going to simply have to pull the BS flag on this one! I'm not going to get into an immature name calling match with you about it, but I'd be interested in knowing your source for these bad reviews! To each their own for taste in mic sound - however, I'm a believer in these mics after a decade of using them ;)
@WVUtubadude What is a guy who apparently is the "owner" of several U87's M150s and CMC6s, doing looking on budget friendly microphone videos on youtube?? dude if you own such mic's, you would'n have time to mess around on youtube, commenting on peoples looks!
For death metal I ALWAYS use an Audix DP6 on the kick drum, My ACG100''s as overheads, a shure sm57 on the bottom of the snare, an Audix i5 on the top of the snare and senheiser MD421's on every tom.
I'd love a Tascam 688. Analog is way better than digital. Do you think I should buy this mic as paired with the other or could I get decent drum sound with one?
Thanks for the video. I use my C 1000S primarily for vocals, but I also recorded electric guitar thru an amp and the sound was amazing. I definitely recommend this microphone.
i just got the mic and its perfect! good review

Hi,
can I connect this AKG c1000s mic to the mac?? I was told that I need a converter to connect mic to the mac computer. Is that true?
gersing 1 year ago
@gersing you need an audio interface really, for your XLR connections :)
I use a focusrite saffire pro 40 which i would highly recommend, it has some really nice preamps on there, plus it's has a really reasonable price
and cos you sound like a newbie, you'll need a DAW such as logic or protools to record on to :)
plus, if you havn't already bought this mic, don't buy it, if you want a SDC mic look at SE1A
If you want any more advice (I have plenty of it) i'd be happy to help

can you record AKG c1000 with mac? how do you connect to it?
gersing 1 year ago
@gersing You would need to purchase an audio interface with an XLR input that can supply Phantom Powe (unless you use the battery option).

@LawtonRecords Welfare budget? I didn't know people on welfare could afford Neumann M150s, U87s, Earthworks QTC40s, and Schoeps CMC6s.
So why don't you just chill out you fat fuck. You obviously don't know shit since the C1000 is one of the least respected mics out there.
