  • I saw this video on a help site for the new paint, so I'm hoping you can help me:

I have most of the new MS Paint figured out, but when you're painting with just the normal brush, how do you get rid of the ligther pixels of color without going though the slow process of just darkening them yourself? Is there some button to optomize the color in the brush? Or some secret way to flood fill the line?

  • waste my 3:25 mins..nothing I learned from this video. :(

  • Now everyone defends a program they never used in the first place. What the hell?

  • WHERE IS THE LINK????

  • how do u get that???

  • I remember when I had Win 7 for the first 2 days and I needed to do some really quick edits with some pics, opened paint and then -.- '' oh yeah it's the new paint '' . Then I clicked the buttons for 10 minutes and I went completely pissed and forgot about the pics. Now I am looking for a way to get the old one back. THE NEW ONE IS SHIT TOO COMPLICATED.

  • Why do software developers insist to keep changing everything? The new Firefox sucked, luckily you could change it to look like the old.

If it's not broke, then don't fix it!

  • Uhhhhhhh.....anyone has the new paint here?I lost mine.......

  • its annoying because when you draw a straight line there are those endpoints to move it and you cant make another one text to it because the control arrow appears and you have to change the tool and change back to line to be able to actually join 2 lines. if you know what i mean. how can that be avoided ?

  • I hate Windows 7 Paints ribbon effect :S

  • i hate it when theres a square at the end of a line to drag it, i cant continue drawing next line like that

  • looks like i have to get gimp or somethig cuz i cannot draw a fuken line without it starts to select it like i drew it wrong wtf?

  • Comment removed

  • I want to see you copy and paste, why does there seem like there is no way to get rid of the white background of a pasted image or drawing on windows 7 paint? Windows xp paint can make that white background go away, Windows 7 seems like it can't do that.

  • hey man how do i get paint?

  • I love the new features, but the GUI from Microsoft Paint 7 was just so good!Bring a tab with the new features,in Microsoft Paint 7..then its just the best!

  • in MS paint i can copy and paste things and move it over another thing but the white i selected wont show up so i can just overlap things but the white wont. but i don't know how to do that in windows 7 paint and i really want to lol

  • I've been trying to figure out how to use the color replace potion of windows 7, but it seems to be hiding from me. Idk if this has been posted before but, how do you color replace? ];

  • Do you know a way to make the Curve Tool after your done using it stop getting the "marching ants" around it?

  • compared with the paint of XP, this is great

  • great, now how do I remove line segments... and anti-aliasing...

  • This is worthless for people that like to draw simple things. But this is pretty good for difficult painting.

  • umm photoshop?

  • I hated it first but now I like it and I do not want to go back to the old Paint cause it lacks many of the new features.A lot of you just do not understand what is good with this new Paint on Windows 7. The crayon brush is my favorite cause it does not give a flat color. It makes thinner color on the sides, giving it that blending effect and its very useful for editing pictures cause pictures are usually not flat colored but layered.

  • iM KINDA GETTIN USED TO THIS PAINT ITS ALRIGHT

  • If you like the old ms paint thumps up!

  • anyone know if i can get the old ms paint on windows 7? just i like the new one but just not used to it at all and my drawings look so bad in the new one even with the line tool...

  • The new paint is just fine, only: HOW THE FUCK DO I DISABLE THE FUCKING TINY EDIT-SQUARES FROM THE LINE TOOL???!!!?!!? UUUAUAAAAGGHHHH

  • xp paint is way different

  • I HATE THE NEW PAINT!!! and I cant even download the old paint onto my laptop because it won't take anything under a certain amount of pixels. GIVE IT BACK TO ME GAHHHHHH!!!!!!

  • Great video, nice quality. thanks.

  • I ctually used the old MS Paint a bit. I agree that the version of Paint on Windows 7 is improved. However, I haven't figured out how to "undo" actions (or "mistakes")? Does anyone know anything about how to do this? Thanks. =)

  • @smoothgraphite Easy, just hit the "undo" button on the Title bar at the top of the Paint window or simply press Ctrl+Z

  • can you invert the colors like the old one and if so, how?

  • I cannot find the old colour switching feature (used with eraser, foreground colours and background colours), and that was a very useful feature in the old version of paint. Since I'm a pixel artist, the new brushes and auto "anti-aliasing" aren't what I came to use paint for.

  • I constantly need to deselect with the line tool, it slows me down.

  • its broken.. draw a shape with the normal brush then use the paint bucket fill and you will see what i mean. the outer edges leave lots of little white dots! very annoying

  • The new paint is really improved, you just need to get used to the new interface.

  • ok if you draw a circle how do you do to fill that circle with color but do the circle with the brush

  • where is the undo in thsi crap!!

  • @diemunguia you are a noob ---CTRL+Z noob

  • @Litlecoyot o thanks but is not that an a noob is that i am not a computer nerd ,i have a social life

  • @diemunguia OK OK SORRY

  • @Litlecoyot wow man check how old is the reply

  • wth

    whe're 480p

  • damm at first i did not found the cutting tool

  • the Zoom function(i Have found a selective zoom function) the coler selection(you cannot use right mouse selction to select your right mouse coler) selecting tool(is far to sensative, select a item then try to select an item near it, and you distort it.) there is no customizabilty, so you cant move the moenu's to ware you want. and basicly everything is in a tab menu so you endlessly have to go threw menu's to click what you want. sumory: BRING THE OLD PAINT BACK MICROSOFT!

  • this paint.. is so bad. its infuriating!

im used to the old one. the old one was fine AND customizable - functional - and user friendly. this paint. is entirly NON customisable. NON user friendly, and just imposible to use smoothly. the zoom function is horible it will allways and only zoom to the top left corner so you have to scan across the page to find what your looking for... i dont have enough word counts left to list everything so i will post again in a second.

  • acerida bro down there I HATE PEOPLE WHO SAY ( DAT ) in stead of that.

  • Whoever says this is easier either uses adobe (or something hard). This paint is fucking impossible. All I want to do is invert one stupid picture, no idea how!!!

  • download normal mspaint.exe from other sources.I did.

  • What's missing is what's really annoying. No transparent pasting or foreground/background options. Had to install a dual boot system to edit files. Hows that helpful?

  • I'd like to get this new Paint in Windows XP.

  • I don't like the new paint. Does anyone know how to get the old paint back?

  • holy crap... i really want windows 7 now O3O it would REALLY help my art.. sorta ^^;

  • yeah me to acerida08 i just need to make the paint see through thats all

  • i hate da new paint. i want da old paint back!

  • @acerida08 oh noes, wanted to give you thumbs up, but my mouse suddenly started to ...suck... an i gave you a thumbs down. sorry :(

  • @acerida08 same >:l

  • @acerida08 agreed, i knew cheats for drawing in the old paint that i cant use with this one!

  • It looks better, except for the weird stuff they did with the titlebar. Leave the titlebar alone!

  • I HAV THE SAME PAINT!

  • new paint sucks. The only people who like are the people who didn't use it before for pixel art. There are other art programs that are free to download that are better than the new version of paint, so why did they have to to attempt to even compete.

  • Omg they ruined the oldskool paint

  • dammit dont make mspaint so realistic

  • You know, I just figured out you posted this on my B-day! lol

  • They ruined MS Paint.

  • 1:00 you drew a bum

  • luckily I have windows 7 build 7600

  • I think it needs more improvement too. For one, maybe let us use pixelete drawing TOO?

  • Where are the buttons - when you put a picture in your drawing - where you can delete the outlines? I want that back!

  • i love the new paint i use it along side with adobe photoshop cs3 all the time =D !

  • omg i hate the new one its to complicated and you cant even have fun with it anymore i wish i could just degrade :(

  • I use Windows Vista paint...but it still is nice. The paint one I see does look complicated

  • aurggghhhh why the fuck would you ruin it this is so terrible I cant even use somethign as simple as fucking MS paint anymore.

  • So different

  • when i fill in it leaves white dots neat the outline ):

  • i cant find "behind and Front" buttons :(

  • Select- Transparent Selection :)

  • I want my solid brushes back... paint was great for like drawing game stuff now it has this no 1 pixel of exact colour crap..

  • I agree with you. The new brushes are terrible. I want my pixel brushes back! My pixeling speed has been reduced to a crawl because they took it away! (along with a few other annoyances present in the new Paint...)

  • I hate ms paint 7, i wich i had ms paint xp/vista...

Most of the time thing dont work in ms paint 7.

Like adapting the colour from a line, it takes the colour beside it.

Or pick a colour when pressing a new tool.

  • i didnt think it was possible to ruin something as basic as paint

    guess i was wrong.

  • They should have left the old brushes for people who want to paint in solid colors. Thease ne brushes are worthless, I can get better effects in Photoshop or Corel painter 11

  • i got my 2 disc 3 days ago in the mail

  • u cant haeve it!its not in sale yet.

  • Thank FUCK i have CS3

  • I really like the quality of the new ms paint, but it just look like it is for younger people like 10 and under? So what you could assume I am saying is that it looks cheesy.

  • @PotatoSeargent Younger. I don't really love the looks of it. But I haven't tried it yet. When I first saw it I was like O_O that doesn't look so fun...then I see how much tools it has lol

  • Yeah, it has really nice features to it.

  • Why didn't microsoft make pain(t) to real photoediting/picture making program? That version looks like horse sh*t.

  • The new paint sucks dicks

  • True this.

  • meh screew you... have you seen the old one?!?!

  • i cant figure out how to invert colors like you do on vista

  • CTRL + i ?

  • I have seen Windows 7 and I saw the paint differently, I wanted to see how it worked, thanks!

io ho visto windows 7 e ho visto il paint diverso, volevo vedere come funzionava, grazie!

  • Why on earth aren't you using Aero? oO

  • I was using a virtual machine inside a Mac, and it didn't support Aero.

  • ahhh ok. I was gonna say, if you were running it for real, Aero would not only look better but also improve UI performance.

VMs don't support Aero because Aero requires 128mb of video memory and full dx9/dx10 hardware acceleration, which no VM software currently supports.

  • Indeed, though VMware Fusion 3 (which comes out in a few weeks - October 27th) is supposed to support Aero fully.

  • if you run run windows performance test i think it will work after a restart.

  • wowzahz! i want eet! :O

  • Windows 7 MS paint looks more advanced with cool new tools and looks just like powerpoint!!

Does this version of MSPaint support transparency? I want to know.

P.S. Internet explorer must suck pretty badly if MS employees are using Firefox instead!!

  • Unfortunately, Paint still doesn't support transparency; it works based on pixels still rather than "objects" or layers (like Photoshop, Fireworks, GIMP, etc use), which means that once you "paste" an object, you can no longer edit it. This would make it very hard to add transparency to Paint without a complete overhaul.

And, haha, I'm not a Microsoft employee, just an enthusiast (though my primary OS is Mac! :o)

  • Everything = well said

But I think I found transparency. You can use the spray tool maybe, spray all over the place to make it look kind of transparent. What do you think?

  • Hmm, it sounds like it's just overlaying a color of a certain opacity over solid pixels. I'll try it out once I get back on Windows 7. I'm fairly certain Paint still doesn't allow you to make nice transparent images, but there is a chance I'm wrong.

  • Wait, you have Windows 7 ?!?!

How is that possible? Windows 7 has not even been released yet (I think).

  • You can get the release version if you are a Microsoft TechNet Plus member, and also through several other less legal ways.

  • Well no offense, but I think it kinda spoils it sort of, like if you wanna really have it and see what it's like on the 22nd, you already know.

Well, at least people like you who have it don't give all the features away. If I had lucky 7, then I would be bound to giving away all the features and making a video on every little thing, lol.

  • why do you still have the Beta?

you should have upgraded to the RC, which is much more stable. Im using the RC right now :D

  • that is the Beta

  • you can get it if you are a MSDN subscriber.

  • don't you hate the new paint

  • i think i will stick with gimp

  • Office 2007 must have been a prelude to Windows 7. Some of the apps in Windows 7 uses the same UI as Office 2007.

  • IDK what you're talking about but MS Paint is used a hella lot. Just not professionally bra.

  • I say the classic version's better for spriting but this will do as well.

And I do lots of spriting. D:

  • LOL MICROSOFT FAIL!

    he has firefox!

  • Werd lol IE sucks badddddddddddd

  • that just shows you how bad it is. a MS employee using firefox...smh

  • were can u get this it is awesome!

  • it sucks wheres the rectangle select and moving around and that polygon where you make a shape and it fills it in for you??

  • there is one but it sucks!!!!!!! it fills it in while ur tracing it

  • windows 7 paint is shit!!!!!!!!!

  • klick, klick, klicl :S:S:S:S

  • what the heck happened to it? Where is my secondary color erase tool? It was just right clicking with the eraser tool but now I can't find it. T_T

  • poor flower -.-

  • I uploaded a video about Windows 7 paint too, and I'm gonna upload a snipping tool video. Its all for my blog... xD

  • damn. part of the charm of MS Paint was the fact that you could make such quick low fi drawings with it. Now it's just another photoshop like program.

  • how do i get this ms paint on vista?

  • if i get mspaint.exe file for the windows 7, will I then be able to run it on vista?

and i have no a mspaint.exe file, so if any have one, please upload it to the web and tell me :)

  • Sadly, I do have the mspaint.exe file from Windows 7 on my Vista machine, and it says (file path)\mspaint.exe is not a valid Win32 file.

  • O0! this is very good! is like a nice photoshop! ^ ^ And the most interesting is that this guy with the Microsoft Office 2007! to download windows 7 RC! it is now available!

if you want me to respond, please, translated to Portuguese, since I do not know very much English, only translated this sentence!

  • Hopefully one day, Paint will support transparency.

  • Or a layer system.

  • ur ms paint is different because this 1 is fr windows 7, and does anyone have a download link so i can download windows 7 mspaint becaase i have vista

  • No. You can only get it on Windows 7.

  • um my ms paint is different

  • Actuly mind you.

I cracked photo shop cs4 with keygen

and i still prefer the GIMP

    because its much less laggy

    and all sort.s

  • That depends on what system do you have because Photoshop CS4 isn't that heavy actually... runs fine on my other PC which has a P4 @ 2.4GHz, 512mb of RAM and XP.

  • CS4 is not so heavy indeed, but you do need a decent video card.

If you have a decent video card, it will even work smoother then CS3, if not then it will lag.

Because the new features requiere a good video card. But you can turn off those feature to lessen the lags.

Even 4gb ram and 2ghz quad-core won't do it if the video card sux

  • Even if you have 4gb ram and 2ghz quad-core, CS4 will not work good on your computer, if the video card sux. You'll have lags cause the new features in CS4 requier a decent video card. But you can turn those features off to les.sen the lags.

But if you have a good video card, CS4 will run even smoother then CS3.

  • Wow! I hope Microsoft updates Vista's Paint with this one!

  • they won't

  • i've downloaded windows 7, too and it's much better than the old ms paint !!!

  • adobe photoshop is gonna be in trouble !

  • That depends on which version of Photoshop you're talking about... No offence to Microsoft because Windows 7 is a massive improvement over Vista (like it were too hard...) but Windows 7's Paint doesn't do half the things Photoshop does (note: I'm talking about Photoshop CS or higher)

  • well its about time

  • Couldn't agree more!

  • mspaint never gets used? what planet do you live on?

  • I agree completely - Windows 7 has brought many new updates which will likely increase the number of people who use Paint.
