  • Wow, you know you watch this broadcast and it's so weird to think that OJ was accused of murder. I mean the guy is so charismatic, charming and seemingly intelligent. I'm not presenting it as an excuse, but do you think his ex-wife did something to him? He changed a lot, at least in the public eye in a very short time.

  • Is that Casey Anthony in the booth with Namath and Gifford? Wait...no

  • The 85 Dolphins were also playing for the 72 Dolphins in this game

  • @FRSFreeStateES Didn't Shula bring every living 72 Dolphin onto the sidelines at one point during this game? I remember Larry Csonka being interviewed on the sidelines a number of times that night.

  • @WatchVenusSpa

You know what I couldn't tell you, I was nine years old during this game. My memories of it are somewhat vague.

  • I wish they met in the superbowl...darn pats.

  • What tough and powerful teams did the 1985 Bears play besides Miami? Their division was full of pussy teams that couldn't add up to a winning record.GB 8-8 was their toughest challenge. Minn & Detroit were both 7-9 and of course the toughest of all teams TB at 2-14. With a 24-40 record who couldn't clinch that sissy division to include 1984 21-42-1 and 20-44 in 1986. The 85 Bears will never get my respect unless they accomplished this record playing in the powerhouse NFC East or AFC West.

  • @KingPurplePimp they destroyed the 3 best teams from the "powerhouse NFC east" as u called it. they beat the redskins 45-10, the cowboys 44-0 and the giants 21-0. learn your football instead of adding records together.

  • @KingPurplePimp

owned by paytondeasy! Have a clue before you open that fat pie hole on the interwebz.

  • the electricity in the ob was amazing

  • OJ WTF

  • @Jean0987654321

    Greatest monday night game ever.

    O.J.Simpson & Joe Namath?

This is crazy seeing those 2 broadcasting the game.

  • This is what happens when you have the quickest release ever in football, nobody is faster then the ball when Marino throws it.

  • Shula out coached Ditka. Chicago was awesome that year in every aspect, however the better won and we live alone in perfectville...Thank You VERY Much

  • Should've been Super Bowl XX!!!

  • @socalscottie80s Miami just might have pulled the upset if they had made it. When I watched this live back in the day,I thought this game was just a fluke win. Now that some history is behind us,I now believe the Bears had no answer for Marinos quick release. He gave the blue print on how to beat the 46 defense. 3 step drop and get rid of it quickly and attack the Bears average corners. The Niners started doing just that with Montana one season later.

  • @kingfish4242 cont. In 85, most teams had their Qb's doing the standard 5-7 step drop and the Bears pass rush was just too fast to be successful against it.

  • McMahon was injured so this game was a total fluke.

  • Good ole OJ AKA "Ya Boy" dissecting the Chicago Bears. Maybe he can gives us his analysis/advice on how to cover up a double murder?? I love how they had to delay the game because the Bears offense couldn't hear the snap. Go Dolphins! We're gonna see a replay tomorrow night!

  • Good ole OJ AKA "Ya Boy" dissecting the Chicago Bears. Maybe he can gives us his analysis/advice on how to cover up a double murder??

  • Interesting video.....OJ the double murderer talking about the Dolphins and Dan Marino...the QB who could never win the big one.

  • THE NIGHT OF FOOTBALL EVER, I WAS THERE.... MARINO MAGIC NIGHT!!!!!1

  • bears were good, but overrated, not an explosive offense, if they got behind, they would have a tough time catching up... thats' why many other teams were better. besides, did they repeat? no give me the 61-62 pack, the 88-89-90 49ers, the 72-73 dolphins, the 92-93 cowboys, the 74-75 steelers... again, a good team for ONE year, but NOT a great, great team... 49ers beat them the year before, 23-0, in 87, 49ers beat em 41-0, in 88 49ers beat em 28-3 in chicago...thank you

  • There was an overwhelming percentage of Miami fans from the 70's glory days at that game, including retired players. Hell, Mercury Morris said he could hear the stadium noise from his prison cell in the downtown jail! Old timers came out of the woodwork for that one! And yes, the bears were NOT going to be beat that year. The truth is Miami was damn lucky they maintained such a force of momentum in the 1st half, or they would've lost the game. It was extraordinary!

  • @RailRocketJr ummmm nahhhh. Miami is just better. Accept it.

  • BTW, it didn't get much more loud and hyped, back then, then at the Orange Bowl on MNF. Does it seem like the fans have settled down a bit, these days?

  • This was a huge regular season game, garnering attention from everyone, including Good Morning America. Chicago was mauling everyone in their path, and there was a feeling that if Miami didn't stop them, nobody could. What made it interesting is that the rifle arm of Marino was protected by a great offensive line, anchored by Dwight Stephenson, and had 2 electrifying receivers in Clayton and Duper. So much fun to watch! Man, NFL football was great in the 80's,

  • Man I remember this night like it was yesterday. A million people can say Dan never got a ring, but I can tell you he did something more important for the Dolphins.

On that one electric night, he made absolutely certain their legacy will live forever. For a true Miamian, born and raised there, he will live forever.

  • Hard to believe that this is still the highest-rated Monday Night Football game in history!!!

  • We should have played them in the Superbowl...We would have beaten them there too.

  • Oh my God @ 4:00 I found the REAL killer.

  • @neneshubby lol fuck OJ hang em'

  • @Potandthekettle Well if that's what you believe. However the debate is 85 bears vs. 72 dolphins. And I don't see how the 73 dolphins or 84 bears are relevant. If you want titles then talk about the niners.

  • @brocky70 If you cant see how those teams are relevant, then you dont understand what the word "team" means. And the fact you want to divert this argument to another team, just shows that you know what I say makes sense but you refuse to accept it.

  • Miami still has the best Undefeated Record Ever : )

  • OJ is bad ass.

  • LOL at 4:20 O.J. said "ya boy". He was ahead of his time with that one.

  • @miggizle85 Dude you were so right...I noticed that too, because when most people back then, referred to themselves, they would say, "your's truly"...It's a damn shame that O.J. let his life run into shit, because he could have gone down as the coolest football player ever...

  • Damn how amazing was it that up till that point only 3 times had a team ever had an undefeated regular season, and only 2 teams had done it. The Bear twice and the Dolphins once. The Dolphins were the only team to finish the season undefeated and now the Bears were looking like they were gonna join them. And who was that stood in their way on this night? Why the Dolphins of course. It's crazy the way things just work out sometimes.

  • The MNF Theme music back then was so awesome!

  • I was there, swinging a teddy bear from a rope from the upper level. Great game, the electricity in the Orange Bowl was incredible.

  • I don't care what people say. To Me the bears were more dominant in 85 then the dolphins were in 72. Back to back shutouts in the playoffs. Record for points in the superbowl, would still have it if the bronco's defense wasn't a complete peice of crap in the 80s, winning the superbowl by 36 points. The big difference is that there was no pressure to go undeafeated in 72 because no one had done it before, and wouldn't you know it the bears had to face the same coach, something the dolphins didn't

  • @brocky70 More dominant? I'm not sure if youre aware but those Dolphins made the SB 3 yrs in a row and won 2 of them(72 and 73) with a 44-6 record over that time. THATS dominant.

  • Comment removed

  • @Potandthekettle whatever you say dolphins fan.

  • @nintendovspcuniverse In other words, you FAIL.

  • @Potandthekettle i dont care what you say bears were better and you cant change that

  • @nintendovspcuniverse Thats true. I cant change stupid.

  • @Potandthekettle that made no since.

  • @nintendovspcuniverse Thank you for proving my point.

  • @Potandthekettle also the dolphins record has been beat patriots were 18-0 before they lost a couple years ago. oh and chicago also one more games they were 18-1 18 is more than 17.. if there were 19 games back in 72 i guarentee you dolphins wouldnt of went undefeated.

  • @nintendovspcuniverse "before they lost" I rest my case on that one.

  • @Potandthekettle besides the dolphins what teams do you like.

  • hell i cant get any of games unless i have cable. there was a time when i could turn the tv on and there would be a game on at least two channels . now you have have all kinds of rigmaroll

  • They blacked this game out in Chicago! Didn't have cable then!

  • @1560438 They did not black out this game in Chicago, I remember watching it on my little Watchman in the first quarter because I was working at Mc Donalds and then I watched it at home without cable it was on ABC Channel 7.

  • It was a showdown game... MNF, stage was set, great passing offense versus shaky pass defense, QB with quick release, versus strong pass rush. This was a tough matchup for Chicago, although they would have won in a rematch in Super Bowl.

  • @1560438 Game was not blacked out. I recorded it on VHS while watching. No games were blacked out in 85....especially 85

  • its nice to see o.j. keeping busy

  • I still stay that had the 49ers gotten it together, they may have given the Bears a game they were 18-1 the yr before.

  • A truely memorable Dolphin victory!!!

  • Ah yes, takes me back to when OJ and Nicole were the happy couple.

  • The 85 Bears were literally bigger than the game. I've never seen one team hyped to this degree and we may never see another one like them again.

  • Damn, why couldn't ABC still have monday night football?? ESPN sucks so damn bad

  • @bryanw91178

I do wish ABC kept a separate sports division as well. Anything nowadays on ABC is "ESPN on ABC".

Monday Night Football was a big deal on an over the air network. I guess today's consumers don't care who puts the product out.

  • Around the 1:00 mark, you see the highlights from Super Bowl XIX, which was played earlier that year on

January 20, 1985...ABC covered the Super Bowl after the 1984 season, in which the 49ers beat the Dolphins 38-16...they were the first team to win 15 regular season games...the 1985 Bears were second...

  • GO BEARS

  • "Hey Frank. I wann a kiss you" lmao

  • yeah, should have been Bears vs. Dolphins in Super Bowl XX.

  • Why? The patriots dominate them and it was not even close.

  • Totally different scenario. That AFC Championship was played in freakin' monsoon. Perfect conditions for that Patriots team. They just got hot the same way the '98 Falcons did...ruining a better matchup along the way. Miami would've been the perfect foil for Chicago on that turf in New Orleans with Duper and Clayton. Alas...it didn't happen

  • this!

  • 72 is still perfect

  • phins would have kicked the bears ass again if they met up again in XX.

  • Yeah, if only Miami would have gotten past the Patriots! The Bears got past everyone!!!

  • except miami that night :)

  • It didn't stop us from going to New Orleans that January! But I must admit that the "Fish" picked up Buddy Ryan's blitzes beautifully that night. It's a wonder more offenses didn't do that against the Bears in '85 and "86.

  • Rumor has it OJ got the knife in Miami.

  • this would have been marinos real and probably only ring i HATE the patriots.Patriots SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Watching this makes you now see how contrived and unnecessary an intro that has a fake party and Hank Williams singing "Are You Ready ... " in it. All you need is a kick-ass theme song (the one in this clip is good, and it's not even the one we all know and remember), a good announcer (not a Gumbel), and some mixed-in crowd noise. This intro had it all. And by the way, Giff is an ex-player that commanded the booth as well as anyone today.

  • LOL The Juice...

  • '85 bears got lucky the pats upset the dolphins in the AFC championship game. Based on this game, the bears would have had a very tough time stopping their offense. And the bears didnt have the kind of offense that could match the dolphins score for score.

New England deprived us of a much better super bowl.

  • Got lucky? Are you kidding me! The Dolphins chances of beating the Bears for a second time in the same season would not be in their favor. I was hoping Miami would've came out of the AFC, I was hoping for the rematch but Miami wasn't good enough to beat New England. BEAR DOWN!

  • That was great, I was there. The atmosphere was electric. Way to go PHINS !!!!

  • I can't believe this was 24 years ago--it seems like yesterday to me. Those Bears were incredible, but Miami had their number for that one special evening. Looking back, it's somewhat amazing, and sad, that Marino never did win a ring.

  • i am bears fan but man, that is sad that the orange bowl is gone.. That place looks so much more lively than dolphins stadium. Dolphins stadium seems so far from the city, generic, and stale.

  • I was very lucky to go there in 1999 to see a Penn State vs. Miami game, too me personally it was the yankee stadium of football games. Too many epic games were played there Super Bowl 3, 10,13. Orange Bowl 1984, 1982, 1991 & many others, along with this game 1985 , wide right 2 & 3, and of course THE EPIC IN MIAMI. it was cramped but it had character.

  • @SFFOOL76 I remember that PSU-Miami game in 99 I wasnt there but I am a big PSU fan and remember watching it. I never liked the Canes but I do miss games being played at the Orange Bowl.

  • I agree, the Orange Bowl was like another player on our side. What is your opinion of the modernizations to Soldier Field? (Removing the astroturf several years ago was a huge boon.)

  • The Shula/Marino Dolphins proved that the Bears 46 Defense was vulnerable if you could Pass Protect for a short period, had a accurate QB & good WR's because of the Bears average Secondary.

  • Thee is not one Steelrers player from the 70s who would give up one of the 4 rings for an undefeated season.

There is not one Steelrs fan who would give up one of 6 SBs of any of the 4 in 6 years and back to back twice for an undefeated season.

The 70s Steelers went undefeated in the playoffs 4 times, that's all that mattered.

  • No doubt!...but you seem to have side-stepped my whole point. Pittsburgh would

never have added to their SB trophy case

without Harris, Blier, & Swann. Don Shula

had to rebuild after 1974, just as Chuck

Noll would have if he had lost his 2 backs

    & best WR.

  • The 72 Dolphins were really good but their unbeaten record just sort of happend.

If they would have lost one game by 1 point at the gun or in OT that year and still won the SB they would never be metioned with 85 Bears or 70s Steelers.

  • "sort of happened"?? Maybe in the sense that

it was'nt planned, but it took all-out team effort

to not have a let-down on any given week.

Also, for those who harp on a "weak schedule"...if Miami was riding to the post season based on that, then surely playing 3

top teams in a row & one on the road would

have done them in. Having a soft schedule

does'nt condition you for the strong teams.

Miami was solid & consistent, playing smart,

    error-free ball.

  • I never mentioned the schedule, 14 games vs NFL Pro teams is never soft.

My point was their legacey as a great team is based on not losing that year when Ibeleive they would ahve been no less of a team if they had.

Everyone talks about "Undefeated" buth the best accompishments is not that but rather 3 straight SB appeaarances and Back to Bac kwins.

  • Going undbeaten & winning the SB does

mean something, especially since no other team has ever accomplished this feat. Going 32-2, winning back to back SBs, appearing in 3 straight & losing 3

    marquee offensive players after 1974...all

that alone without mentioning the unbeaten record, puts them in the class

of 85 Bears & 70's Steelers. This squad

was in no way finished when the WFL set

them back. The '74 Steelers would be 1-shot wonders had they lost Franco, Rocky

    & Lynn in 1975.

  • They lost the opening round of the 74 playoffs, it was a great game but it's not like they advanced even to The AFC Title game.

Does any one really believe that the 72 Dolphins could run on the 85 Bears or Mid 70s Steel Curtain or that Gresie could handle that kind of pressure?

In 72 the Best Dolphins team beat a far from mature Steelers team by 4 points.

Bradshaw was still frowing, Frnaco was a rookie, Ham was in his 2nd year and Lambert, Swann, Stallworth/Webster hadn't even been drafted.

  • Yeah, they lost 28-26 to Oakland in '74

& without 2 starting DBs...All-Pro & SB MVP Jake Scott & CB Curtis Johnson...

just like Steelers lost to Oakland 24-7 in

1976 when Harris & Blier were sidelined

with injuries. That '74 "sea of hands"

game definately ranked as a Championship worthy contest, so Miami

can be forgiven for losing, just as the dynastic Steelers can for losing 2 post-

season contests following their 1st back

    to back SB reign.

  • And for some reason, that '72 game was IN Pittsburgh. Not Miami. And does anyone think the Steelers of the 70's could've locked up the 80's 49ers or the 90's Cowboys, considering how much bigger and stronger those teams were? I don't

  • 72 title game was in Pitt because before 1975 Home Field was determined by a rotaion of the 3 divisions.

As far as the 80s/90s go, even the

80s 49es were slower and smaller by today's stanards, their hey day was 20 years ago and their first 2 SBs were only a couple years after Pitss 3rd and 4th.

If todays' plyers were born when the 70s players were born they would have been the size and speed of the 70s players and had the 70s players been born when todays players were born then visa versa.

  • Man this brings back so many memories

  • Dolphin over bears...Dolphins always ruin there Undefeated seasons and i lol

  • BEARS win that game if mcmahon plays. we would have stomped that ass if them shit ass fish couldve beaten the patriots! s.fuller was a very mediocre qb at best, shit i could have won a few games behind all that talent. best fucking team ever, stick that 72' dolphins team up your ass!!! MONSTERS-OF-THE MIDWAY alltheway!!!!!!!!!!

  • How many games did the 85' Bears loose, that would be one right. And how many games did the 72' Dolphins loose, uh that would be none. You obviously have no idea of what you're talking about.

Go back to school and learn how to write a proper paragraph, dumbell!

  • Go back to school and learn how to spell lose, dumbass

  • Oh, a typo here then let's take you back to the 4th grade and recall spelling;

LOSS, a noun - an amount or number lost: The loss of the life.

LOSE - a verb - to fail inadvertently to retain (something) in such a way that it cannot be immediately recovered:

  • They also lost one Super Bowl.

  • And so did the 06' Bears.

  • 1972 Dolphins lost Griese for 11 weeks

including 1 playoff game & the 1st Half

of the AFC Championship; don't whine

about losing McMahon for 1 measley game.

  • you clearly dont remember the game well at all, i have the game (along with every game fromt he 85 bears) the dolphins O-line played solid enough not to let the bears completely destroy marino but they certainly were getting pressure and mcmahon didn't come in till way later in the game, steve fuller started the game for the bears and played terrible turning the ball over in bear territory, and i dout the bears D was humbled to much ebcause they were still cocky and won the super bowl

  • actually i just checked mcmahon didn't come in till about 9 min lift in the 4th quarter and the score was already 38 - 24 so, i dunno how it was a "aweful performance by the mcmahon led offense" its was a bad performance by the fuller led offense

  • dan marino was sacked 3 times this game, but he wasn't under much pressure, it was really a team effort for miami though, they sacked the bears 6 times and got 3 INTs.... sounds like you dont remember the game to well if u dont think marino got hurried even 1 time when he was sacked 3 times

  • he got that quick realease

  • 85 was not perfect

  • i miss the orange bowl! listen to the crowd. those old stadiums were the best.

  • Yeah, I was there. There's nothing like it !!

  • where or how can i watch this entire game? im like 14 so this happened before i was born so i couldnt watch it. im dying 2 watch that game, if anyone can help, plz respond

  • my dad taped it live

  • how am i supposed 2 watch it?

  • ditto. i want to see the game.

  • IT"S OJ MAN!!!!!!!!!

  • the ghosts of the OB

  • Fins win! I beamed when we beat these guys and then we got pasted by the Pats in the AFC championship game, then Pats got pasted by Bears!

  • amazin !

  • This game is easily one of my favorite memories as a Miami Dolphins fan! That night was simply magical. Marino was as good that night as he ever was in his entire Hall of Fame career! Dan was in the zone and he wasn't going to be stopped. This guy didn't give two spits for the fact that he was playing the Bears! He was always the picture of cool, unrattled focus. If only he had ever had a running back and/or a top defenseive unit behind him. He'd have easily won multiple rings!

  • The slaughter, is what this game should have been called. Marino lit up that Bears Defense, they could not stop him. What memories this games brings, I was a freshman in high school and was doing my homework while watching the game that night. The next day at school people where high five each other,,, I went to school in South Fla.

  • Oh man, I remember watching this on tv. I could feel the "electricity" through my set.

    This was a GRR-REAT game!

  • What Dan Marino did this night was dominate the 46 defense. He threw for over 270 yards and 3 td's.The Greatest QB ever!..And what he did to the defensive lineman was legendary, made them look like high school kids..

  • Frank Gifford = Mr. Monday Night Football

  • hey its oj

  • The Dolphins got lucky that night...I don't think any team would have wanted to face the Bears in the Super Bowl XX.. Dolphins, Raiders, nobody would have had a chance. The 46 D best D ever.

  • Miami did not get lucky. I was at that game. It was in the air. Yes, the Bears were the better team that season, but Miami was the better team that night. It was an old fashioned beat down.

  • Hey didn't that one guy cut his wife's head off?

  • It's hard to stop a loaded arm like Marino's! My favorite game!!!

  • There already is full nfl games uploaded on Youtube already like Super Bowl 14 steelers vs. rams

  • Could you imagine the kind of ridiculous hype this game would've got in today's 24-7 TV and internet sports culture? It would've been nuts

  • It's so nice to see a MNF game start without all the unnecessary fluff, whistles, and bells.

  • Of course, Chicago was severely handicapped in this game. Steve Fuller was playing QB. If Jim McMahon had been in there, the result may have been different.

  • McMahoan couldn't decide what headband to wear. There was no way Miami was going to be denied this night. Miami had more to play for. Chicago had everything wrapped up by then. My biggest regret is these teams didn't meet in the Super Bowl. Had Miami not choked away the AFC Championship, the results in the Super Bowl would've been the same as this game. The Bears couldn't blitz on Marino and had a weakness in all a QB had to do was roll out of the pocket. Marino perfected that!

  • No doubt, '85 Bears HUGELY overrated. Maybe most overrated team of all-time. Marino would have picked them apart in the Super Bowl. Would have LOVE to see McMahon, Ditka and company eat crow.

Hey who's that AA color announcer? Wild

  • It's nice to know others are as passionate as I am. I was at a friend's apartment to see this game. I was away at college at the time. There were about 10 Bears' fans and 30 Fin fans there. It was wild!

  • Hey, I just saw a MURDERER!! OJ. A Brutal MURDERER!!

  • fuckin dolphins

  • =-)

  • GO DOLPHINS ahah =]

  • Yeah this was a great game.

  • The highest-rated "MNF" game ever.

  • Wow, Namath was right on target with his commentary. The team with the most emotion had the edge in this game.

  • Yeah if there's any way anyone can put this game on here that would be fucking sweet. I've never seen this game but always have wanted to watch it.

It's a shame the Dolphins couldn't get to the Super Bowl that year...a Super Bowl rematch of this game could have been one of the greatest Super bowls ever

  • I'm surprised the NFL doesn't sell DVDs of some of these classic games. Sometimes they show them on ESPN CLassic or the NFL network in the late summer months leading up to the regular season. I've love to have a DVD of this game and that 1994 Jets game where Marino brought the Dolphins back with some amazing laser-like passes in the second half and ran that spike play. Ahhhh the good ole Dolphins glory days. Hopefully Parcells can restore some of that over the next few seasons.

  • Hey Delphinus72,

You can find lots of these games on Ebay. I have loads of classic games on DVD. Normally really cheap too and pretty good quality for the age.

  • Hi khmerwolf1

I was wondering where I can find you on Ebay 'cause I tried to find those DVD's that you have and all I could find was those Super Bowl and/or those team boxset that Warner Home Video put out on DVD a couple years ago so write to me ASAP

  • ditto. i want to see the game.

  • OJ Simpson, lol

  • My husband and I,and our two children bought tickets early in the season for one game of our Dolphins. We live near Tampa, because it is so far we only went to one game each year; this is the game we selected; we had really good seats. We flew down on Sunday and to say we had a "Great" time is an under-statement. Dolphins have always been our only NFL team. We taped the whole game so we could watch again when we returned home. Still have that tape. Thanks for the memories!

  • anyway you can upload the whole game on youtube?

  • If someone uploaded the whole game, Steve Sabol and his lawyers would come down on Youtube like a ton of bricks.

  • December 2, 1985....my sixth birthday, and as a Dolphins fan this was the best birthday present I've ever received!

  • Broadway Joe and The Juice...never been a cooler Monday Night crew than this one

  • O.J is one evil man.

  • MCNEAL is awfullllll!!!

  • In 1985, who would have believed that O.J. would kill his wife and an innocent man, get away with it, and then kidnap a room full of people?

  • very nice

  • That OJ sure has a big head.

  • Miami 38

    Bears 24

  • RIP Frank Gifford

  • RIP? frank gifford isn't dead.

  • What a superbowl it wouldve been if Miami could of got out of NEngland in 1985

  • Indy at the AFC East?

If that were still true today...

    //drool

  • It's been around a hell of a lot longer than that. Paul Brown used what's now called the West Coast Offense with the Browns as early as the 1940s.
