Sad to say, though Civ 5 had minor improvements such as transport carriers are no longer needed, I feel Civ 4 provided more realism. Other rulers reacted to your religion; you had culture bombs that were actually useful in slowly encroaching and ultimately consuming neighboring cities. The most unrealistic aspect of Civ 5 was gold. How the hell can you buy buildings out of nowhere? I bought a nuke.... where the fuck do I buy a nuke in the real world? From rogue terrorists? .....

Better yet, buy civ 5 from steam. Its on sale this weekend until monday at 10 am.

I'm JUST getting my head around this game, and ive been playing civ for about a month now...and i'm a longtime strategy game player. It's a steep learning curve, but it pays off really well. Definately this game, or 5 like i said.

ok I ordered Civ IV Complete and I want to know with Warlords and Beyond the Sword can I run all the content of each expansion pack? Or do I have to play each separate for their content? like do I install Civ IV then Warlords and then BTS so I can play all the content at once?

If you play BtS you get all the stuff from Warlords, but there are specific mods for Warlords that you'd have to play Warlords for (BUT people mod more actively for BtS and play it a lot more).

So there's problems with all of em really, there is no perfect Civ.

Civ III = railroads OP, chopping UP, pollution too harsh, disease not severe enough.

Civ IV = chopping OP, railroads nerfed too much, food production nerfed too heavy. health perfect, disease perfect, pollution not even a factor

Civ V = crap

I mean I guess rushing to railroads was considered OP in Civ III and previous Civs, especially if you were near some cattle/wheat just rush railroad in industrial ASAP, diplo other techs you skipped from your allies and skyrocket past your rivals. But 1 fucking production and only on hills, 10 movement instead of infinite was a severe nerf..

It's bullshit that the AI cheats on the higher difficulties. It's extremely annoying to have to restart the game 12 times because you were swarmed by 5+ barbarian armies within 2 turns of starting the game.

If they didn't allow the lower tech units to compete with higher tech units it would screw up balance. Yes it is unrealistic, one attack chopper could mow down a whole contingent of knights in real life, that being said game play must take precedence.

Go into options from the in-game menu. In graphics (or maybe it is in general) there is an option for "single unit graphics." Just put that to off.

1600 years for my first damn Settler. Why do i have to wait 25 Turns at the start of the game for 1 settler and then some stupid lion comes out of nowhere and kills it. What a joke. Even if i put it on extra production it doesn`t go down. If i`m lucky it takes 20 Turns for 1 settler at the start of the game. What the heck, lol. And is it normal for the enemy to attack with 30 Units on one of the easiest difficulty settings while i`m still only getting my 3d city up.

I race to the enemy capital with horse archers raise it, and then send my main force of swordsmen axemen and catapults to expand my territory. Their capital city usually has a lot of production and they usually have to build another settler to get it back while I plunder their land I love civ 4.

The AI in this game is absolutely terrible. For example, I give "Peter" combusion, and in return he gives me nothing and refuses to give me anything for the rest of the game. I'm frustrated. And if like he said, older infantry ALWAYS beats me.

Even tough the game is pertty old the battle system in the game kind of sucks. Used to play it alot, but now the battle and my troops allways getting killed just makes me angry. The game is very repetitive and gets dull when you have tanks and stuff but they just keep getting killed by the enemy archers. The should have made the game more realistic in the time periods also. It takes more time to construct a worker than research new tech in the beginning. Sereously WTF.
