heya how much like shaving do you have to put in for them to burrow in - gonna get a gerbil and just like want some info on like how to keep them happy x

we now have 2 new gerbils and they girls. Gerbils usally live til 3 or 4. it's rare for them to reach 5. My mom has had lots of gerbils and none of them reached 5 she had one that was very close to 5 tho
@icebloomafoo It is. Some gerbils live to maximum of 5 years if they are extremely healthy and happy. Your gerbils must have been cared for propperly, if they weren't, they wouldn't have ever had a chance to reach 3 years, even. You must have been a good owner to them. Your gerbils must have been VERY healthy and loved you ALLOT!!!
I love mice, rats, hamsters, Gerbils etc. they are so funny to watch lol! xD

It really just depends. Sometimes they live a long time, this one didn't quite make it to 2 years even though she seemed healthy to the very end. :/
But like Lyra said, hers is 4, that's pretty old for a gerbil I think.

@rexjay12 I've read in some books that gerbils can live to be maximum of 5 years old if they are happy and healthy so you should be ok. :)

@lemurfan123 emm, bit late, one died from pnemonia and one had a scent gland tumour and died, one was nearly three and one was over three xx

my gerbil is nearing 4 so he cant be bothered to dig burrows anymore so i make him ones made of looroll tubes ^^
