@800mEric I gotta agree with PerversePoster on this one. although hip-hop is, in the broadest sense, a cultural movement, the label of 'hip hop' as a musical style was birthed out of the development of rap. people wanted a way to distinguish intelligent poets, who know their roots and connections to the hip hop culture, from the idiots just trying to make a quick buck, and in doing so, abuse the craft and drag it down. Talib, common, mos def, etc= hip hop... 50, weezy, jock, etc= rap.
